It quite a mystery and unfortunate that some do not see these changes. I really wish everyone get to see this refreshing VR experience. It is so good I do not fly to fight but fly to do sight-seeing. Flew a more than one hour mission last night in the Apache and did not fire a shot. Breathtaking depth on the Syria map terrain especially when you fly over highland and look down at the valley below . Might want to try again because it did not work for me on my first try. I meticulously followed the instructions on both the document and the video and baam!

I have not tried turning it off. I think it permanently there now. I do have just two profiles, the global and digital combat -Black shark. Two of my flight sims (DCS and Msfs2020) has received the enhanced 3d effect using the 3d effect settings in vr. Other vr sims I want to try now is P3D, steam Eurotruck/American Truck, Asseto Corsa. I am doubtful I would see much in the ground sims because I have found that this 3d vr setting show tremendous depth in aerial views. Beside the 3d effect, clarity in cockpit seems to have gotten a touch in dcs. However there is strong inclination not to messed up things are they are now.

Give it a go there. Pure satisfaction for me. The depth is amazingly deep if I can put it like that.

I may have applied this 3d setting to my global profile. I launched msfs2020 (rarely fly) and did the Egypt pyramid tour flight, it was scaring to look down over those pyramid. I do not flying that Sim often but I am sure something changed. Looking down the mountains from above is so spectacular. Anyone tried it in that civilian Sim because it is different for me. The Sedona familiarization l training flight kind of convinced me about the change. That I have done before. The 3d world in that civilian Sim just blew me away especially from above.

Yes. The coast line, the trees and the building just shines in 3d. Would you believe I love just flying that mission to go there and watch below me.

Fellows , I made a move on Evga 3070 last week with price at $649.99 pre tax. Delivery was planned for next week. Saw the same gpu down a little more and cancelled the order. Decided to a give a few more weeks and hope some world trend would not turn things around. I could spend about the same amount ($699.99) for Asus barebone setup with the following list parts: ASUS TUF Gaming GT301 Tempered Glass ATX Mid-Tower Computer Case - Black ASUS NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 Ti V2 Mini LHR Overclocked Dual-Fan 8GB GDDR6 PCIe 4.0 Graphics Card ASUS TUF Gaming 650 Watt 80 Plus Bronze ATX Non-Modular Power Supply ASUS B550-F ROG Strix Gaming AMD AM4 ATX. The above seems to provide a good upgrade path for a rx 5600x cpu from my present i5 7600k. This I reckon can keep going before the Nividia 4000 series and amd 7000 series launches(hoping one can get those when they come out)

So you rolled back to steamvr. I was beginning to think the openXR app might have had an effect on this remarkable 3d effect profile. The openXR made a big difference for me in playability and stability and that is a keeper for me. The fact that you could replicate the 3d effect in steamvr and openXR gives much credence to this 3d effect.

Me too. I do not think I want to by any chance alter what I getting with this settings in VR. It is like a breathe of fresh air into my VR experience. The way 3d object pops is fascinating. I appreciate the work on the Apache cockpit design by Ed the more. Navy asset are just pleasant to look at. Loaded one of the the KA-50 instant missions in Marianas map and the effect was glaring. Perception could be different from person to person but I can attest to the fact that I am seeing way different from before. I have next-to-nothing idea on how this was done but it sure look good. Hoping when I return to dcs the effect would still be there.

Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat! This is mod is no placebo as I previously thought. It truly works. I had done it initially not take note of the profile I applied it to. Now I changed the my profile to Digital Combat simulator:Black shark profile, launch my dcs in vr and it happened. Unbelievable view. First thing that pop for me was the Battery Power selector in the Apache, it was longer in height in 3D view. Lifted up and the views and sense of height became pronounced. This is goooooooood. This is some smart mod. I quickly took some time off to post here as I did not want to stop dcs fearing this may not apply if I restart dcs again. Amazing discovering here. Going back to enjoy some more flight.

It would nice to know if the DTC would be implemented for the Apache. I want to assume this would take care of having to input Waypoint, Control M, Hazard, Target etc in TSD page. Having to do this in every mission is somewhat a pain in the backside especially when for some reasons you crash and have to start the mission again.

Have read some reviews about CH products and they get good ratings especially in the area of longetivity. That company had some good product but stoppped being innovative. I have been doing flightsim without a rudder pedals which I rarely use except during taxing. The front paddles on my T. 16000M throttle have been doing the job but it is quite not precise and too sensitive for me. I had to convince myself to get a simple rudder pedal, the CH rudder pedal was one of those I checked. Eventually got the thrustmaster TFRP rudder pedal to introduce me to proper rudder control( feet control) and the Ah-64D just made the move more pressing. I hope the TFRP performs well and learn to use the feet for rudder(I have been told it takes teaching the legs and the brain to use the feet for rudder control)

Progress pictures on the Eurofighter Typhoon
Eaglewings replied to DashTrueGrit's topic in DCS: Eurofighter
Yeah like they said in the last update they gave, serious coding work on systems is underway. This I believe requires intense focus. -
I have no problem settling for the mid/high range cards and hope the new dcs graphic engine and mulitcore implementation come soon enough to help some.

Yeah new series with some trade off. If rumours are true about watt spec on those gpu, I dealing with heat generated in hot humid conditions isn't going to be fun. High Watts draw on the gpu and higher electricity cost from cooling the gaming environment. Wondering if this is same prediction on next Amd card. They seems more energy efficient.

Okay thanks. I will check the toolkit out. -

This thread is a very long one so a bit of a task searching for answer to this question. Pardon my asking asking if it has been dealt with before. Does openXR have a medium where I can monitor framerate, frame time and such like fsvr in steamvr? I would like to know how my hardware is performing. -

I certainly have good things to say about this openXR interface app. What was a stuttering fest before especially flying the Ah-64 in Syrian map is now playable to a great extent. The Visuals(cockpit and outside) are pretty much better. The impressive thing is that I could add MSAA and still manage to play. The developers sure did some amazing work with the VR interface application. My gtx1060 card and Samsung Odyssey plus headset got playtime extension in dcs till I can transition to reverb G2 and better affordable system upgrade. -
I have the same conviction about Vulkan on amd cards. Hopes are really high for the implementation of the new graphic engine and multithread. Thanks for your thoughts.

Copy that. Been monitoring closely on a daily bases since launch of new series. The new openXR tool kit application seems to have just given my card some lifeline for the wait. Visuals and playability greatly improved with that app in comparison with steamvr . Thanks as always

Thanks Deltamike. An overwhelming opinions here seems to go in favour of NVIDIA cards if doing dcs in VR. The green cards does better in 1440p and above comparatively and if this translate to VR which are more like 2k and 4k resolution, they look more situable. Original plan was to get the red cards because they have lots of vram going for them but was swayed to Nvidia cards.

Thanks LucShep, never had a chance like this. I might just have to go for.

I got an email from microcenter today of Asus cutting prices for their graphic cards. I have been meaning to upgrade from my trusty gtx 1060 to the rtx 3070 Ti to help with VR play. Microcenter has this for $699.99, $100 above msrp, is this a good time jump in on it and get one? Advice please?

Yes since latest patch, I get like 2fps in any of the maps I have and subsequently the game will freeze up. It will ultimately crash.
