I hope you're right about these. Just getting one or two of these would be amazing for the SH. Three of these upgrades would just be icing on the cake. EPE engines would fix alot of problems the SH has currently, the IRST would increase it's capability and CFT would increase range/weapons payload. Hopefully you're right and they do go for all three.

Fort Wayne Airshow & Oshkosh 2016 A-10 pics
wilky510 replied to Kippy's topic in Military and Aviation
Hey Cichlidfan! The Andrews airshow is every 2 years now. 2016 was one of the years they skip! Keep an eye out for 2017 for the airshow at Andrews, Thunderbirds are listed to be @ Andrews in 2017 for September 16-17, so it's safe to say it may be on for this year! Thankfully for me i live by the air base that had the F-35 and the F-22 for the Baltimore airshow! So 2016 was a great year here. Got to see the F-35 take off in full burner. -
Maybe the MiG-29 PFM/Su-33 PFM? I remember them being pushed back to "2017?"

Don't usually participate in giveaways, but i'm strapped for cash and i'm tired of using the 3d pro 30 dollar junk stick for over 7 years now. So, here goes nothing.

Actually, the F-22 is quite boxy, even with it's "bigger wings", it's the size of a freaking Flanker, so that may help it's apparent lack of "boxy" appearance when looked at. The F-35 is boxy because it's an F-16 sized aircraft with huge amounts internal volume for fuel/weapon bays. And before you go on some rant, I'm quite aware it's no where near the actual empty weight of an F-16. But it IS the F-16 for the supposed "stealthy hi/low mix" So with the F-35 being in the "low" mix, what do you do, when you want an aircraft to be less expensive? You reduce the size... The F-22 is the high end of the mix, it has 2 engines, instead of 1, and requires more money to build because it's a much bigger aircraft. But that isn't good enough, now people want 300 million dollar aircraft for the low end mix. Now people want a 1.50 T/W thrust vectoring F-16 with no stealthy features since stealth aircraft are an apparent "waste" of money (BTW, a patent released about the F-35 shows it's fiber-mat stealth coating works across all bandwidths for radar ranges, including the supposed super duper all seeing low band radar ranges) while somehow having 25,000 pounds of fuel with "off the shelf" technology... You just can't win. I bet you even with it's apparent "crappy" boxy appearance it's still more aerodynamically clean than most 4th gen aircraft loaded with just fuel tanks and A2A missiles. If the F-35 is such a turd by simply looking at it, and you can clearly can do better with all your "expert" opinions. Why aren't you working for the USAF?
-
Boagrius, alot of people here are biased (Just look at Weta43's post). I'd advise from just not even engaging in a conversation with them. You'll save yourself the frustration. Some people just can't be bought on the F-35 because of what the media feeds them.
-
You mean Pierre Sprey? The guy who said the F-15 was a waste of money? The one who thought pilots were expendable by throwing them in cheap aircraft with no radars (F-16 pilot who has flown the MiG-29 to the F-15 said the F-16 would be better with a bigger radar..)? The one who said the M60 was comparable, or even better than the Abrams because you could field twice the amount of tanks (what good would that do? The cannon would have a hard time against even a bare T-72...). I don't wanna go OT, but here's some new information lately... "The patent claims composites with CNT-infused fibers are capable of absorbing EM waves from 0.1 MHz to 60 GHz, a bandwidth unheard of in commercial absorbers, with particular effectiveness in L- through K-band. The patent does not quantify the absorptivity, but does say the panels would be “nearly a black body across . . . various radar bands.” Also, interestingly, a layer can be composed so an attached computer can read the induced currents in the fibers, making the layer a radar receiver." I'd say that's quite impressive for F-35, and doesn't sound like it's a sitting duck at all. Sounds like to me the USAF learned it's lesson about long wave length radars with the F-117 downing. I would also like to throw in there was no jamming that night, which would've been especially helpful. USAF knows that stealth isn't the end all, be all solution for air defense. That's why they apply jamming techniques and even have developed things such as MALD-J's. All the stars lined up for the shootdown, but it was indeed a big feat. So you can't take away from that.

That's usually a two-way street. I've seen my fair share over the years being a big lurker on these forums for the longest time :megalol:.

We desperately need more eastern bloc aircraft
wilky510 replied to desdinova's topic in DCS Core Wish List
IF ED can and make aircraft from Eastern side of things, it'll most likely be along exactly the aircraft generations you said: very early 4th, late 3rd or early 3rd generation. Problem is MP won't be terribly balanced for the Eastern side, and there probably will be some balance complaining if and when this does happen. -
Thanks! i really appreciate the answer.

Thanks for the update Wags, that's exactly the information i was looking for. Maybe when you guys feel ready, can we shed some light on exactly what's going down on the Su-33/MiG-29 PFM/AFM? All we got was "su-33 PFM/AFM is coming" and haven't heard from it since. What PFM/AFM will we get first for the MiG-29? A? S? Will we get both at all? Not exactly looking for release dates on them, just some more information.

I will fly it more often when the PFM comes. When i got the taste of the PFM life, it's hard to go back to SFM playing it all these years.

Those poor poor REDfor flyers always with the "bullshit", the AMRAAM is totally a god missile and nothing is ever wrong with it... like the flight profiles?... Just the poor ER eating chaff all day. Right. We do notice, it's not something we can fix on our own.... FYI, my favorite Eagle times are when using 1980's loadout vs Flanker 1980's loadouts..
-
Oh yeah, you're totally right, i totally fly the Eagle just for the AMRAAMs and not the Eagle itself, you've caught on why every flies the Eagle now!! They're just skill-less SPAMRAAM players looking to beat up on the poor skillful Russian players who only have their SARH missiles! Or maybe they just like the Eagle?... The Red side flyers on these forums sometimes...

Anyone notice an fps increase overall in Nevada terrain within the new "patch"? I saw a 20-30 fps increase in the areas where i was hitting 58-60 (the new low was 79-80) Was just wondering if i'm crazy or did they optimize Nevada alot more? I used the same aircraft tested pre-patch on the same exact area where i was going below 60 fps, i had to even check my settings numerous times to make sure i wasn't missing anything. Running a 980 ti SC with everything maxed except with depth of field off, also with MSAAx2 and at 1080p.

SA-2 with upgraded variants, SA-4 and SA-5 would be lovely.

It is getting the AIM-9X, it's just not as pressing as other issues. 2023~ all the Raptors should have a helmet and AIM-9X capability. I remember missiles being in their infancy and missiles still dominating the majority of the kills in Vietnam even after the guns were added. What was missing was BFM from pilots. Which are still taught today. Missiles have evolved alot since the 1960's and not really going to go into it because it's off topic. PS, i am fine with newer variants of Russian aircraft. The question is, is the Russian government fine with ED developing these aircraft?
-
Voted AH-1W. Though i'm more interested in the Hind they're doing. Wonder if we will hear information on the Mi-24 this year.
-
These forums are quite the opposite of what you just explained, so i doubt this is even true. It seems there's ALOT more Russian 'fanboys' on these forums, more than Western 'fanboys' by quite a bit. You talk about the AIM-9X/AIM-120D being in limited service and thus shouldn't be accounted in the game, but want the R-77, which hasn't been shown on a Flanker variant since... 2016 on a Su-35?... I can tell you the AIM-9X is quite plentiful in the F-15C squadron community right now. As for the F-22 AIM-9X, there's more pressing matters to worry about in the USAF than an aircraft that can dictate how to enter a merge with it's stealth capabilities instead of worrying about a neutral 1v1 merge where a HMD would probably be more useful.

I kinda wish we would get an update on all these AI models (if some will be added or all of them). If they can't come to fruition, i don't see how anyone would be mad. They're just AI external models.. eye candy.

I would totally love those aircraft in the game. But as Mattebubben said, you'll have alot more vocal people from the MP side complaining about the imbalance which is rightfully so. It'll be a one sided seal clubbing quakefest. IMO? I wish more developers would aim for earlier aircraft on the Western side aswell as Eastern aircraft of the same time period (while leaving ED to decide on the much more modern aircraft). Maybe one day ED can nail some info for a fully fledged updated Su-27 Variant.
-
Again and again this is asked. Russian planes are just in general harder to get information on. It's that simple. I agree with you. I fly Western aircraft and would love all Western aircraft in the game, but i want the other side to have aircraft to fly too (makes for more fun). But yeah, I've been around here a long time, and if you look hard enough, you'll see some ED officials bringing up how hard information on Russian aircraft is to come by (legally).

No one escapes in front of the Russian aircraft

Frostie, i personally think CM easily spoofs any type of missile in the game. So in a way i agree with you. -
No one escapes in front of the Russian aircraft
wilky510 replied to Ragnarok's topic in DCS: Flaming Cliffs
Those poor poor Flanker pilots that are vastly superior in WVR to the F-15 also want to be superior to the F-15 in BVR too with 100% hit R-27's.. -
Quora article: Is the MIG-29 a better plane than the F-16?
wilky510 replied to SDsc0rch's topic in Military and Aviation
I don't watch any media to be perfectly honest. My post you linked supported that idea. I think any media being "credible" laughable. Especially Moscow. Sorry if you felt that way Kuky. Didn't mean to low blow you. I just read your posts over the years (i've been a lurker for many, many more years than before this account was made) and thought you had a distaste for Western aircraft (American especially). I'll retract my last statement.
