Quora article: Is the MIG-29 a better plane than the F-16?
wilky510 replied to SDsc0rch's topic in Military and Aviation
Anyone that's been around here long enough that has seen your posts knows that. :) -
Why Red Flag exercises are not indicative of aircraft performance
wilky510 replied to rrohde's topic in Military and Aviation
F-22 is vastly superior to the F-15 in WVR in every area except for maybe T/W depending on the fuel loads of both aircraft. T-38's train more often against Raptors. It's just that simple. BTW. The T-38's carry really nice ECM pods and can actually be a menace at BVR too! -
Why Red Flag exercises are not indicative of aircraft performance
wilky510 replied to rrohde's topic in Military and Aviation
As Garrya has pointed out Picard has a certain agenda. He likes IRST's to the bone. I saw him quoting an IRST spotting a stealth aircraft at 120 miles with no factual data to back it up, other than "I saw it". He likes the Rafale alot, and has some wonky claims! -
I'm sure if the Europeans had an stealthy aircraft people wouldn't be singing this same tune, they would still be wanting the European stealthy aircraft over American Aircraft just because it's European. But if people don't wanna pay the price for stealth, they are gonna find themselves in a pickle when more and more countries are able to afford S-300 variants and S-400 in decently amount of numbers. If they want the Rafale/Eurofighter just for the interceptor role, that is fine. But offensively these aircraft lack stuff the F-35 has. While the F-35 may lack at A-A compared to the Rafale and Eurofighter, these two aircraft will mostly lack in A-G to the F-35. Now i think of it, the USAF would probably being doing all the first night stuff anyways for most European countries, so the F-35's fit perfectly in a war the USAF would find itself in against a near peered country... But that is my personal opinion.

Is there any way we could get more official skins for the F-15 in DCS? I feel like the skins are kind of lacking compared to the Su-27..

Graphics Problems in 2.0 Upgrade GPU?
wilky510 replied to Mad Dog 7.62's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Like i said in the other thread. Get the 970 FTW, it's 10-20 dollars more and will preform with a normal 980 in terms of FPS. What resolution are you playing at? -
Huge performance hit between Caucasus and NTTR
wilky510 replied to Fred00's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
a 970 FTW will preform as well as a normal 980. I'd honestly buy the 970 FTW. Though if you wanna shell out the extra cash for a 980, i would get atleast an SC or the FTW version of the 980. I'm running a 980 ti SC and 8gb of ram too, haven't noticed any stuttering or anything on NTTR after 3-5 hours playing in a MP server yesterday. 16gb of ram will be fine. 32gb is overkill imo. You'll probably upgrade your pc before you see use out of the 32gb of ram. -
I personally agree with you. I think the Typhoon and Rafale will just be as much as an F-35. I honestly think the aircraft Canada's looking for is out of their reach.
-
Which is fine. But Canada won't be finding a Mach 3 aircraft out there, unless you made a typo and meant mach 2. Also, with this change, Canada won't be able to engage in any foreign relations, (IE bombing ISIS). But If that's what they're aiming for, good for them! This change also doesn't make the F-35 any less capable, though, it will make the overall price of each aircraft go up.

You're still convinced the F-15 isn't realistic with fuel tanks?...
-
The next cards will be powerful, but won't be cheap either. You could find some "rumors" on the new cards, but it's all a guessing game at this point. I've seen some say 50%~ faster than a 980 ti to as little as 25%~. But the next generation will for sure boast a huge amount of vram with the new technology they will be using (HBM). As it stands. Waiting for the latest and greatest means you'll be waiting forever. I'd just take the shot and buy something now. If you are really that hell bent on the next generation, you can always Ebay your card you will buy now for near retail price (i sold my 980 for 500~ dollars on Ebay used after a years worth of time in my PC).

Russian A-321 crashed in Egypt, 224 dead
wilky510 replied to Yurgon's topic in Military and Aviation
You're welcome to believe that, as that is your opinion. But i can't help but laugh. -
Voted 4th generation multirole fighters. I wish we could get some more "FC" level aircraft, with PFM attached, such as the F-16. Then this could allow a "step up" program down the road to make it full DCS level with less time involved since the cockpit, PFM would be already done. I really enjoy DCS study sims, but they take a LONG time to make. Having some aircraft to fly with a PFM is very fun inbetween waiting for new aircraft. I've been playing since LOMAC days, and the PFM just makes all the FC level aircraft a new beast/fun to play.

Russian Air Force Photos and Video (NO DISCUSSION)
wilky510 replied to Flаnker's topic in Military and Aviation
Lucky i guess. MANPADs are very dangerous, but their warheads are very small. Depends on where it hits, it may looked like an engine hit, but it wasn't devastating enough to cause a major failure (aka lucky). Though, i'm not too sure on the FN-6 specifications. That could be a factor too. -

wilky510 replied to Flаnker's topic in Military and Aviation
Correct. Erm, no? It's getting reposted around lately as being hailed as a Russian Mi-8 being hit when it's actually a Syrian Airforce Mi-8. I don't want people to be confused, especially when the title of this thread is Russian Air force photos and videos. -

Old Footage. -
I think the USAF are RuAF are fine for operating safely too. Even if the media is stirring up from both sides. After reading the USAF UAV's shadowed by the RuAF fighters assures me that everything is fine. The USAF wasn't complaining, they said their flights weren't impeded and the RuAF wasn't out of line. Though, these things can turn the wrong way quicker with one wrong move.

I wouldn't worry so much about the USAF doing anything brash when you got Arab countries on the borders. Speaking of which, does Turkeys' F-16's carry AMRAAMs on any of those border patrols?

If you say so. -
He thinks BVR is a waste of time. He wants an aircraft loaded with all IR missiles. He wanted the F-16 to have no radar and carry 6 sidewinders. He wants a small lightweight cheap fighter that will be expendable in combat (by the way, the F-16 was all this in the beginning, it lacked BVR missiles, and could only use sidewinders). Once the f-16 started getting all the bells and whistles it has today to make it such a great aircraft, he dropped his "support" for the F-16. He considered the F-15 a 'failure' too, was too big, had a big radar, and was specifically made to carry BVR missiles. He goes by mythical "Vietnam" Statistics on missiles "failing" (when in reality, if you actually take the time to look at stats, missiles still dominated Vietnam even after the US trained for dogfights/guns again). He thinks BVR will never happen in the future, based on Vietnam data, and some data from other conflicts (Israeli conflicts). He doesn't understand technology can move forward.

Military and Aviation News Thread (NO DISCUSSION)
wilky510 replied to topol-m's topic in Military and Aviation
What exactly does this have to do with anything? The Russians were defeated in Afghanistan.. Just because they simply left earlier makes their strategy some how more sound in the current conflict? He brought up a very valid point. -
Russian missiles - usage, bug, problems, advantages
wilky510 replied to tovivan's topic in Su-27 for DCS World
Rebalance a little bit? The AIM-120C has a range of like 35-40km MAX in this game. How would giving Su-27's a missile that can go 170KM's range rebalance the sim a 'little bit'?... -
Will my PC run EDGE/new maps/aircraft?
wilky510 replied to ozTRipwiRE's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Your CPU is fine, well above the specs. http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/downloads/world/beta/ Download it and run it. Note: You will have to reinstall your modules on the open beta, but it doesn't take a Starforce registration to put it on open beta (as long as you log into your account with the ingame login) -
I'm not sure where to really ask this, but i think this seems like a semi reasonable place. Will the MiG-29 external model update just be the A, or is there an S version being worked on at the same time?
-
Su-27 Flight Performance I am sure when the F-15 FM update hits the Su-27 will easily best the F-15 up close, though; I can see where the higher thrust to weight on the F-15 will still cause problems. You guys have the better missile in WVR IMO, i wasn't strictly talking about performance, the AIM-9M is good, but the R-73 is better. R-73 might eat flares though, which could be brought into the discussion. I personally think all IR missiles are too easy to spoof.
