The F-22 vectoring thrust was apparently added for high speed turning, not low speed high AoA, which the Russians usually like to show off about thrust vectoring. They never said it was a useless gimmick. They said it was not worth the extra weight and extra complexity on current aircraft.

I don't fly with afterburners on 24/7, only use afterburners on takeoff to climb altitude and for long range AMRAAM shots. I was more referring to getting these tanks for the newer theatres that will eventually become alot more bigger in size. My post wasn't really about the fuel gain anyways. I was just simply asking a question why they aren't added. The small map thing isn't a good excuse, imo. People showing alot of squadrons using them; I just have no idea why they aren't in the game as an option then. By the way, can they only carry AIM-7's on the CFT's?

After doing some searches on these forums, i did see some past conversations about them, but nothing for a concrete answer on them for not being in DCS. Is it the same story with the R-27EA? Not enough F-15's had the plumbing done, so there wasn't a large amount of numbers of F-15's that could use them? (aka not widely used). I thought they would be fun to use, especially with the AFM that could easily model the drag they gave.

It looks like most people agree with you that the Eurofighter is better. But that doesn't make the F-35 no slouch. But hey, keep underestimating it. That's a sign of weakness. By the way, last i checked. They were designed mainly for two different roles. And can't even be compared. If anything should be compared that's in the USAF inventory it's the F-22. And with how quick the Germans were to brag about their victories against the Raptor; i'd say the F-22 is just as good as the Eurofighter in WVR.

Both great games, I remember walking into a Target, or Bestbuy and just seeing all the different Flight simulators games in the PC section during the 90's. Man how things have changed these days.

Wouldn't get that excited. I would assume it would be Model -> 6dof -> AFM. Followed like the other aircraft. Sadly, with the other aircraft; they took forever to get through those three steps. Though, you could be right. Just saying, don't get your hopes up. Might just be an updated model for the MiG-29 and maybe at best the 6dof (these were said to be worked on for a while now on the russian side of the forums.. I remember seeing). edit: or Wags could just be outright trolling us and it's nothing. :)

+1 man, spot on. I hate seeing 3 ships guarding a carrier ingame as they all volley SM-2's at the same KH-22. My personal wish though would be to see an early Arleigh burke class destroyer. I think down the road we'll have some updated CVN ops. Just would be more immersion. I'm not saying going full fledged on a model and it needs to be done ASAP or anything. But hey, it would be nice to eventually see one down the road. They're just such a huge part of a CVN group now.

Only thing i see in the IRIS-T vs AIM-9X is weight, which is 89kg vs 85kg. They're pretty much the same missile...

Haha, maybe they did. :lol: on a much serious note. Not sure why people even compare to the two. I mean honestly would they ever face eachother in a situation before either are out of service? I just can't see it. Typhoon is just a great aircraft. I just hate hearing that the F-22 is only good at BVR when it can hold it's own in WVR too. It has a decent wing loading, it has the excess thrust, and has a very clean configuration. Though, it is lacking an HOBs/AIM-9x. But hopefully that will be fixed soon.

F-22 almost weighs twice as much as the Typhoon. I'd say if anyone was "sweaty" it was the Typhoon squadrons; slicked off down to the bone, and still only enough to trade blows with the much heavier F-22.

I have the upmost respect for all the airforces around the world. Red Flag is a place to learn, engage in information, receive it, and then build upon it for real scenarios. But what they did was simple chest thumping. Especially with comments such as "raptor salad for lunch". But hey, what can you do.

Went as far as putting a marking on their aircraft. "look at us, look at us... give us attention". Real professional.

is the IRST a pod or built in like the Japanese eagles IRST? Tried to look for some information on this a bit ago. Couldn't pin anything down.

If there is any radar that is comparable to the Irbis-E or better it would be the AN/APG-63(V)3 (it's on some ANG Eagles i'm pretty sure). But honestly i wouldn't trust any public figures on what's exactly which one is better. They are either overstated or understated... I'm not to knowledgeable on radars, maybe someone can come in explain a little better which one is better and why.

Depends on what version of the F-15s' radar (there's alot, including an AESA now), Frosties' link should help though.

I respect your opinion and see where you're coming from. But from what i've read and heard in Kosovo with the A-10's being stuck at 30,000 feet the whole conflict makes the aircraft seem pretty dim when you could have an f-16, or even an F-35 at the same altitude flying faster and further. Maybe i'm just misunderstanding you guys, but i honestly don't see the A-10 being on any frontlines in a modern battlefield, i think MANPAD's are more frightening for aircraft than anything today.

The guy thought the F-15 was a total failure when it was being brought in IOC. The guy thought the F-16 would be better without a radar and no BVR missiles, when on the other side of the coin you got an F-16 pilot that has flown from the F-15 to MiG-29 said he would rather they would upgrade the F-16 with a bigger radar than what is currently on the aircraft. The guy wanted the F-16 never to be what it became today... an 'everything' fighter. It's hard for people to take him seriously. Especially when his comments about 'stealth' being useless. I beg to differ, especially against tactical fighters (their radars i'm talking about). I see the Maryland A-10's fly every other day over my house, (they were the first ones to transition to the C version) and still see them to this day, but i think their time has come, it's time to let go. I mean honestly, do you guys think an A-10 would be survivable in any modern environment?

Now i'm a bit worried that my GTX 980/4770k won't hit 60 fps at 1080p in DCSW 2.0, :(.

Would like to see this updated too. Whatever happened to "MiG-29 6dof cockpit coming soon"? If ED is waiting on DCS World 2.0, i understand 100% but we haven't heard anything so i assume it won't even be for 2.0. I mainly fly the F-15 online but i like to venture to the Russian side once in a while. It's so hard to play the MiG-29, online or offline. A 6dof cockpit/new model is all i need to enjoy it right now. Been flying with the SFM since Lockon release (and the demo they had!) so i can deal with it.

RT does the same thing about the F-35, yet Russians always use that information as 'testament' of the F-35 being crappy. Just ignore those kind of articles :P
