  1. Poor Mirage has seen a little bit of wear and tear :(
  2. I believe this is a bit misleading, because it is probably a bug affecting only certain PC's. It's not indicative of what the experience is going to be once the new clouds are enabled by default. I have also used the new cloud system but I get no performance hit whatsoever by doing so. I have read in other threads that there are some who has the same performance problem that you are experiencing but not everyone has it. That's why I think it's caused by a bug, and it is also probably the reason why the new clouds are not yet activated by default. It is likely that ED knows about the problem and they want to fix it before enabling the new clouds.
  3. In the videos and screenshots we have seen, it's been imperial.
  4. I'm thinking the date of the tournament was pushed back because they want everyone to have the possibility to try out 2.0 open beta before the tournament starts. It would be kinda risky to have the release and the tournament start at the same time in case there are unknown issues discovered at the last second.
  5. 2.0 open beta in late november was and probably still is the plan, but anyone that has been in this community a few years knows that this could easily change.
  6. Always check oxygen flow indicator during startup. It could be that you thought you enabled helmet ventilation, but actually didn't.
  7. Cannot play the video. You might want to change it to just a simple link, or go to your youtube and enable embedded playback for the video :)
  8. I am very sceptical towards StarVR. They have to make some compromises to achieve such amazing specs as 210° FOV. It will be much larger and heavier than Rift/Vive. It will need much higher resolution displays to achieve even similar pixel density to Rift/Vive. Now remember, that even with the Rift and Vive you will have to turn DCS graphics options to their lowest setting. Even then you need a really fast PC. Imagine if the StarVR is to have the same pixel density as Rift/Vive. That means it will need twice the resolution. With Rift/Vive you will need a PC that can achieve a pixel fill rate that is approximately four times that of gaming on a 1080p monitor. The StarVR would require eight times as much! That is just no feasible with today's PC hardware. It will be a loooong time until we get there.
  9. I hear rumours that the Vive will cost up towards 1000 USD :S If it's true, I feel this is going to be a niche product, while Oculus Rift might actually attract the mainstream, with it's slightly more reasonable "up to 400 USD".
  10. No such problem here, with FX8350, 290X and Win10 x64. Tried repairing your install?
  11. From changelog: F-15C Infinite fuel after aerial refueling has been fixed Transonic Roll-off eliminated Wing rock effects implemented Rudders have more authority PTC operation corrected: trimming no longer required in transition from SL to 40000', 'wind up' effects corrected much faster, correct operation on-ground. High altitude, medium and high AoA behavior is corrected (related to TRO above) Slow speed, high AoA behavior is corrected Throttle movement range compression is mostly corrected (full movement range is useable, FTIT/RPM barely changes as altitude increases) Two wing tanks now have less drag than the belly tank Selectable bingo bug is implemented Afterburner stages lighting off are now subtly audible Conditions of oscillatory and flat spin are corrected Added strobe lights
  12. That's the one.
  13. What's all this fuzz about the "fog layer"? Last time I checked, real life didn't have perfect visibility either. :)
  14. Are you talking about the autolock cheats that you find under the "simplifications" section of the keybinds? Those are only enabled if you enable the corresponding cheat under gameplay options. Otherwise you will have realistic avionics.
  15. I guess they want to show off the new graphical improvements. The older videos are showing outdated versions of DCS.
  16. Making an EFM is not quite that simple, as thrust varies a lot depending on a many factors, such as atmospheric pressure, aircraft speed, altitude etc...
  17. I ran the instant action mission with the Su-33 carrier landing. I noticed that while landed and standing still on the deck and watching through the F2 external view, there is a doppler effect applied to the sounds coming from my aircraft, such as engine sounds. This should not be the case since the relative speed between the aircraft and camera is zero. Strangely, when I changed to F3 view (flyby), the doppler effect seemed to disappear even though the aircraft is now moving in relation to the camera due to the movement of the carrier. ED please fix  Open beta version 1.5.1
  18. Thanks again for giving us swedes some love :)
  19. Thanks for the video. Looks like a lot of fun indeed. Of course, some things still look like they need some work, but surely CptSmiley and the others know exactly what those things are, so I don't intend to rant about it. I think this is going the be a blast when it's done :) By the way, are those custom engine sounds? I don't think I have heard them before.
  20. Exactly. There's just no way to know for sure at the moment. We just have too wait and see.
  21. But the fact that the author got the specs of the Rift completely wrong is proof enough that he/she isn't to be taken too seriously. Also, the author most likely have not tested the consumer version of the Rift, which looks like a big improvement over the developer kits. Hell, I have even seen people confuse the Gear VR for the Rift. Would you take the advice of such a person seriously? I know I wouldn't.
  22. I have heard the same complaints from people running 1.5 so it's probably still there, although I cannot confirm it myself because I don't have a VR headset yet. Waiting for the consumer version. Don't want some stupid prototype :)
  23. Me being fooled into thinking it was a picture probably means it was a good rendering :)
  24. It's actually a photograph of a pilot's helmet with the squadron insignia of the Strike Fighter Squadron 103 (VF-103), nicknamed Jolly Rogers. They belong to the United States Navy and currently fly the F/A-18F Super Hornet, but Cobra is obviously referencing the F-14 which they have previously flown.
