    DCS: F-5E!

This thing is going to be a lot of fun anyway. We just have to adapt to it's limitations, just like any good pilot would do :)
  2. The first two are correct. The last one does not exist. There is no such thing as a full DCS module of any of the FC3 aircraft.
  3. I think you are confusing the standalone Flaming Cliffs 3 modules with full DCS modules. They are not full DCS modules. They are exactly the same as you get in Flaming Cliffs 3, except you buy them one by one. Flaming Cliffs 3 is like a package including all those modules, plus MiG-29 and Su-33, which are not yet sold separately.
  4. Well, lazduc, that changes things slightly. I was seeing things from my own perspective, but I'm not even half your age. If I step into your boots for a second, I think I might change my mind and decide that buying right now is the better choice. New graphics card models are usually ridiculously expensive the first few months after release anyway, so there could be another year from now until they reach reasonable prices.
  5. Question is.... what's the refresh rate of the real thing? :) This is something that has been bugging me a little bit. All HUD symbology in all DCS modules seem to refresh as fast as possible (every simulated frame), and symbols are very precise. Reality is a bit more complex than that.
  6. 1.5.1 is still using the old clouds. They will be replaced with a new system soon.
  7. Third parties still have to go through ED quality assurance before they are allowed to release their product, right?
  8. Thank you CptSmiley. There can be no more confusion now.
  9. You are wrong about EFM. There's no way to tell where on the scale EFM should go, because it is entirely up to each third party dev to decide for themselves how they want to make the flight model. Edit: Sniped by SiThSpAwN :)
  10. Don't forget the M2000C :)

  12. Well, cobra recently said on simhq forums that the time between announcement and release of the products will be short, so don't loose all hope just yet, okay? :)
  13. We know the resolution of the displays, the approximate field of view and roughly how the head tracking systems work for both the Vive and the Rift. This is not nearly enough for me. I understand that when it comes to VR there will be a lot more than just tech specs that goes into making a decision. Tech specs can't tell you how comfortable a certain headset is. It can't tell you how durable it is. Opinions from people who review several headsets will be able to tell you however. We will see a lot of such reviews when both the Vive and Rift has hit the market. By the way, price of the Rift will be 350-400USD if you didn't know. That includes an xbone-controller with a wireless adapter which I find kinda silly because many people already have one. I would rather not have that, and pay slightly less instead.
  14. Sounds good. Personally I prefer to stay away from dual GPU, and in a year or two there are going to be new cards on the market. Instead of putting another 980ti in there, I prefer to sell the old card second hand and get a more modern card instead. If you go that route you can also subtract 300W off the power supply. Graphics cards that are just a few years old are easy to sell second hand for a fair price. One time I have literally put one up for sale in the morning, and had it sold before the evening the same day. There is no EDGE 2.0. There is only EDGE, which we already have access to in the open beta. Don't expect DX12 support. I find this very unlikely to be implemented in DCS within a reasonable time. Stuttering is something you always get with SLI. How much stuttering depends on the software, but it's always there more or less. The next high end GPU's will certainly be catered towards 4K/UHD, just like the AMD Fury X was. They will be using a new fabrication process at 14 or 16nm and you can expect huge performance and power efficiency gains. The top of the line products will likely have HBM. The new cards aren't as far away as you might think. Pretty sure Nvidia is aiming for an first half of 2016 release, which is just a few months away. Could definitely be worth waiting for these cards, instead of buying right now, unless you don't have a PC at all.
  15. Indeed. Ignorant consumer practises and hype can really drive sales in this day and age, and don't even get me started on pre-orders, where people throw money at things that don't yet exists. How hard is it to just wait until the product is finished and then read some unbiased reviews before making a properly informed decision?
  16. Show us some tracks so we can see what errors you make. For the first instant action mission, I go about like this: First group is undefended. Take them out with guns or unguided rockets. Second group is defended by AK-74 infantry and is almost harmless. Dropping a GBU-38 at the exact location of the waypoint will take out all the infantry. Finish off the vehicles with guns or unguided rockets if they survived the bomb. Third group is the bridge, and it's defended by an ZSU-23 which is an AAA unit. Avoid it by simply climbing to at least 10 000ft and drop your other GBU-38 on the bridge. Fourth group is a bunch of tanks guarded by a Strela and a ZSU-23. Climbing to 15 000ft puts you out of range for both of these air defence systems, but you can stay at 10 000ft and safely take out the Strela with a Maverick while approaching the area. It's the vehicle farthest to the left (east). Take out the rest of the vehicles with GBU-12's and Mavericks. The last group is defended by ZSU-23 which sounds easy to defeat but the challenge here is that you are running low on weapons and the targets are moving. I will let you figure out this one for yourself. It's important to know what your going up against and know the strengths and weaknesses of those systems so you can exploit their weaknesses. Edit: Oh, sorry, I thought we were talking about A-10C so the mission I used as an example will not be the same mission you see when flying the A-10A, but still, there's probably a thing or two you might learn from it.
  17. Update your Oculus Runtime. https://developer.oculus.com/downloads/pc/0.8.0.0-beta/Oculus_Runtime_for_Windows/
  18. Calm down people. Current hard-drives costs about 0.03USD per GB. 26gb of Nevada NTTR will therefor cost you 0.78USD. So what's the big deal?
  19. Did anyone notice the cockpit options for Mi-8 and MiG-15 now? You can have Chinese cockpit if you want :) Or is this an old feature that I have missed up until now?
  20. That was invented a looooong time ago.
  21. Did you overclock the graphics card? Is the GPU temperature within reason? Do you have the latest driver (15.11)?
  22. A single 980ti is all you need. Anything more than that is just a waste of money, even if you happen to be filthy rich.
  23. Same. I decided not to activate and press exit instead. I hope they can fix this so I don't have to waste another activation. Starforce.... Blargh!!! Not the first time it causes problems either.
  24. Some military aircraft has FLIR on HUD. Since BMS 4.33 it also exists in consumer flight sims :)
