While the KA-6D first hit the Fleet in 1970 as did the A-6E. It was my understanding that all 90 KA-6D's were rebuilt from A-6A airframes. While technically true, it turns out that 12 of the 90 were in fact A-6A's that had been early upgrades to the A-6E standard, prior to conversion to KA-6D. These were early "barebones" A-6E's that had not received the TRAM upgrades and such. I would like to offer my Apologies to you Sir. I was mistaken. -Woog Ref: http://www.joebaugher.com/usattack/newa6_4.html

** DCS: F-14 Development Update - September!! **
Woogey replied to Cobra847's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
I couldn't agree more! While I understand, and have read Cobra's reply to this exact concern, I also hope that somewhere down the road we can get a "fresh out of the depot" version of the A, B, and D cockpits. While I understand that these were workhorse machines that got beat up pretty quickly, We could also compare this module to your favorite beloved model of sports-car. I'd prefer to hop into a classic car that was in good (Not Pristine) condition, over one that looks like it has been left out in a field with rats and birds making a home in the Cockpit! What I don't want, is a request like Clean Cockpits, to take precedence and delay our release any further than it already has been. The textures DO look amazing even as is, and I can not wait to get my hands on it! Please Cobra and the Heatblur team: All I want for Christmas is my F-14. -Woog -
Sorry revelation, but your statement is not correct in any way. The D's came before the E's. They are not re-purposed E's at all. In fact the other way around. There were new build and rebuild A-6E's. Followed by TRAM updates, and many more. One of the largest improvements: a completely new composite re-wing program on the E's after multiple crashes lead to the discovery of fatigue and wing failures. With all of this said, the press release states that they are doing both of the aircraft KA, and E- Tram as Ai of course. -Woog

I get what you’re saying, but I don’t think it’s actually the case. In terms of information processing, the potential with the right design philosophy is no more CPU intensive than Dubai or Nevada. Again not huge in terms of gigabytes of data, using the land class methods. Not to mention that loading and offloading of visible objects is a feature being refined by E.D. as we speak. Additionally There is a VERY high probability that DCS 3.0 will use a full globe simulation engine. To create a map like this is going to take a couple years anyway, now we’re in overlapping territory with the next iteration of DCS. We might have different philosophies here, but I am the type of person who rises to a challenge and finds a way to make it happen, This is called progress. While others may be left behind thinking “it can’t be done.” -Woog

Same Size as Caucuses and Persian Gulf, 600 miles by 1000 miles. Granted these maps have a much smaller “High Detail” area, but the full map are is in fact 600mi x 1000mi. The point of bringing up the ORBX stuff in the original post, was to show that the map could be high detail in its entirety, and still be kept to a manageable size memory wise. This map could be done and still not break 40gb. There is no reason this map could not be slid north a wee bit, but it can’t go West and East to cover Kaliningrad. That would expand the map to be larger than anything in DCS currently. The main thing is to not slide it far enough north that Bitburg, Hahn, and the other SW German USAFE bases become excluded. It would also be preferable that they are not at the very edge of the map. While Sub pens would indeed be a high value target, this is also primarily a flight sim, Therefore the aircraft and there airbases need to take priority. -Woog

For a long time I have longed for a DCS Euro Map. If you go by the current NTTR dimensional map size (500mi x 500mi) this could potentially encompass Germany with a tiny bit of the bordering countries on the outskirts. However, if you take into consideration the extreme reaches of both the Black Sea Map and the Persian Gulf Map, then our coverage over doubles to a dimension of 600mi x 1000mi. Using ORBX Land Class Sceneries as a basis of potential size, All of their European Sceneries combined works out to 38.4 Gigabytes of High detail (Equivalent to DCS) Landclass terrain. The area encompassed by ORBX Landclass territories includes All of Ireland, Scotland, England, Wales, Norway, and Germany, Plus a complete area coverage for all of Europe. Additionally, ORBX has created a Completely PhotoReal Coverage of the Netherlands, however using this Tech, the Netherlands alone comes in at over 75Gb for this little country alone! I bring up ORBX only as an example of the amount of data that a map of this size could require, and the difference between Landclass and Photoreal (Orthophoto) style of map creation. Attached is a Proposed photo of the map that could be. While it would not satisfy all parties, it would cover a larger group of coalitions, while giving a very good area for Cold War Operations, and even an expanded coverage area for WW2 Battles. I moved the map far enough West to encompass the Mach Loop in its entirety. All of the Current Normandy map is included, of which most of that map could be recycled into this version. I think one potential strategy with a map like this could be to build it as a WW2 map, but release modern campaigns for it in the future which add assets, buildings, and Airfields that suit the aircraft that the missions are intended for. Does anybody else have the desire to fight Nato Vs. the Warsaw Pact in Europe like I do? It seams to me with the current Assets, This is the map that Flanker/Flaming Cliffs should have had all along! Eagle Dynamics, can we get a refocus on the Basics, and please create a map like this?

Roussen Class (Super Vita) Fast Attack Missile Craft
Woogey replied to Astoxos's topic in 3D Modeling for DCS World
I am also very interested in these, especially now that we have the F-4 and F-16 on the way, and If I remember right a Med and Aegean Sea map on the way. -Woog -
I just hope that Ugra Media decides to add some real world accuracy to the map. For example: none of the Airports exihibit a layout that reflects how they appeared in WW2 (or today for that matter). With as much historical documentation as there is available, is baffling that the Dev’s decided to just make up their own designs!

Works perfectly fine fore me. Always has. I am also on WIN 10. I update DCS every time, and it has always worked. -Woog

I hate to rain on your parade but you have to make a choice here if you want to be accurate. The Cockpit you are choosing to go with belongs to the MH-60R which replace the SH-60B. However the MH-60R got rid of the Trailed MAD Boom. What you have is a late model SH-60B Fuselage, and an MH-60R/S Cockpit. You either need to delete the MAD Boom and Pylon from your 3d Models Mesh, and Call it an MH-60R, or get an Entirely new cockpit model that looks like this: SH-60B MAD Boom MH-60R Does not have a MAD Boom or Pylon. With that said I appreciate you bringing this model to DCS, My favorite Helicopter of all time! -Woog

Addon Tents, Watchtower, UH-1-Cargo
Woogey replied to upuaut's topic in Static/AI Mods for DCS World
This Mod Just Keeps getting Better! Do you think you could add a couple more models? Here are some examples: This would really bring some character to our USAF/NATO airbases. Your Mod in addition the the VPC Airbase Objects mod, has done so much to change DCS from a sterile environment, to a nice recreation of what these Airbases should feel like! -Woog -
Nato Western Style Airbase buildings? DCS 2.5
Woogey replied to Ghostrida9's topic in 3D Modeling for DCS World
These Sceneries are all for FSX. Done by ACG, NL2000, and MAIW. I agree, these location would be absolutely ideal in DCS! I have dreamt of a long time for DCS Fulda Gap or DCS Northern Europe. -Woog -
Only after the brass took an Axe to the Sundowners, did VF-101 steal the Shark from the true rightful owners........VF-111!

Yes Matt had talked about the plans for the Expansion loosely in one of the Live Streams. If I remember Correctly he said they were looking at adding King Abdul Aziz Air Base as well which means that Qatar and Bahrain should be detailed out fairly well in the future. Surprisingly Bahrain doesn't even exist currently, the Entire Island is missing! -Woog

Well let’s see here, FC3 has: SU-25, SU-27, SU-33, Mig-29A, MiG-29S, and a Russian Aircraft carrier. Then there is the A-10A and F-15C. That is 5 Reds + a boat, against 2 Blues. I would say it is time for some more Western Hardware!

If anyone is good a 3D modeling, or can find good 3D models of these missing structures, they can be added in a standard mission template. However I believe that the Major religious landmarks, and things like Ferrari World that have trademarked names will not be touched by ED. I would like to see these airports added along with the Sports complex just adjacent to Al Bateen. Very distinctive structures there. -Woog

Find the Virpil Mod Packs, It will give you a lot of stuff for both Redfor, and Bluefor.

Can only use TF-51D & Su 25T on PG Map
Woogey replied to Raven1606688515's topic in DCS: Persian Gulf
There aren't any missions yet for the other aircraft. You have to create you own mission. -
I find it very odd that this map does not include country options for UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Oman, or Bahrain. Will these countries become available in the future? -Woog

E-2D Advanced Hawkeye
Woogey replied to Woogey's topic in Release Version Bugs and Problems (Read only)
Yes the props are just one aspect. The Current model is a D, not a C. As accurately as ED aims to be for individual modules, the overall platform lacks consistency and congruency in the modules operating together. DCS used to have an E-2C. My request speaks simply to a desire to put like aircraft together. F-14, F/A-18, A-7, S-3, etc served with the E-2C model with 4-bladed props. This change/Alteration to the existing model could be implemented by one 3D artist in a couple of days. I would even be willing to front the bill for 3 days salary out of my own pocket. If anybody else wants to chip in, I won’t complain! -Woog -
I was playing around with the Hawkeye a bit and noticed a couple of things that I hope ED will address. 1: The Rotodome spins the wrong Direction! In game now it spins Counter Clockwise. It should spin clockwise. 2: The engine start up sequence should be engine one, then engine two, and should take at LEAST 5 minutes, not 30 seconds to start rolling. 3: Most of the time the Hawkeye crews will taxi with wings folded until they are near ready to turn onto the Runway and/or just behind the JBD on the carrier. Currently the wings are unfolding right at start-up. Lastly I request that ED create a 4 bladed E-2C model for use with our F-14's and older generation Naval assets. The French, Japanese, Portuguese, and other military's that only operate the E-2C Hawkeye surely would appreciate it. The E-2D did not go IOC with the first squadron until 2014, and even now is has not been distributed to the entire fleet yet. The E-2D model is lovely, but a little bit out of place as it is state of the art brand new hardware, nothing else in DCS is of this era. Please consider my request ED. Sincerely, -Woog

Thank You! But How Do I load these into PhotoShop? I had them once upon a time, then I built a new computer reinstalled PS, and have not had the FS colors since. I forget how I did it last time. -Woog

You know after thinking about it for some time now, I have a new list of Aircraft that I am theorizing could be part of the new pack. Jaguar Buccaneer Skyhawk Fitter Possibly Etendard Possibly the Original Mig-29K, not the new one. This list is based on a couple of factors: 1 factor is the announced maps coming up (Persian Gulf, Syria, Falklands). Another factor, is that some of these have been in development as independent mods, and I could see ED making a deal with each group to make them "Official" but on the simple side just to expedite completion. The Last thought I had was the other aircraft that did not make this list: Mig-23, F-16, Tornado, etc. These will become full fledged, High fidelity modules, no need to include them here. With one caveat: Sub-models. It is possible that ED might throw us a less capable F-16A model or even an early F/A-18A model for example, in the same way that the A-10A is to the A-10C. Any way it turns out, I am excited and will be purchasing FC4 on day one! -Woog
