  1. Great game, gave it a go thinking this'll be good for a half hour, played for ages. Try nuking the world at least once... P3 got a lucky hit in on this one and everyone went to jesus...
  2. Can't get it to work at all. Extended, OVRService and wscript ended, direct, when I get the oculus as the main display I run it, instant action and get a black screen. I'm an AMD user. Any advice?
  3. It's not looking great but it isn't decided yet, I've heard they were due to fly over last Friday but that was delayed. The final decision hasn't been made (/published yet, due 'early next [this] week'.) RIAT is a big deal, but missing it wouldn't hurt sales too much Missing Farnborough on the other hand...
  4. So, they patched this and things look a little better. USB limit is gone, so you don't have to get the xbox controller out. If like me you were mugged for £30 on release day, go back and take another look....
  5. A reboot of a reboot?! Are all the good writers dead?
  6. There's also the huge amount of money aviation companies have to squirrel away for when the inevitable goon slams it in doing something silly...
  7. #23682 Overclockers .co.uk, to the UK :)
  8. Honestly I wouldnt worry. There is no natural analogy on the ground for sustained (+1 second) g or centrifugal force. You've taken the rules your brain (and ears) have been used to (and that of every human before 1901) and thrown them out. We are adaptable though and you can get used to it pretty quickly. I do think you might have started off a bit heavy though :) just in my own experiance (results may vary) food isnt so important but avoid fizzy drinks (really important) and caffeine (just happened to help me) I haven't yet done a spin and I'm over halfway to getting licensed, so well done for getting one in so early.
  9. From the accents I'm guessing it's one of the Alpha Aviation new Robins, I fly a much older slightly different model (smaller engine, smaller rudder, doesn't have the strake, spins not recommended :) ) Quick google and that aircraft is for sale :) http://www.aircraft24.co.uk/singleprop/robin/r2160--xi115917.htm Looks tidy.
  10. DCS Hawk please :)
  11. Seen your video's around, great stuff. Aviation is a great model for taxes, it's proportional and fair, the more money you have, the more money it takes away from you :)
  12. Thanks, t'was a firewall issue.
  13. Anyone else getting Can't Connect to Master when trying Multiplayer?
  14. Wow... I really shouldn't try that. ever did the thing in science class where you burned a doughnut to calculate it's calories? my cremation would look the same.... and it would be next week...
  15. Great thread, have some Umm Ali, I normally remove the coconut and substitute pecans for pistachios. Serve it at as soon as it comes out of the oven and keep a little bit of cool cream to pour on top... Ingredients: 1 package of frozen puff pastry (17 ounces) 1 15 oz can of sweetened condensed milk 3 cups water 1/2 cup cream 3/4 cup pistachios, shelled, chopped 1/2 cup pine nuts 1/2 cup almonds 1/2 - 3/4 cups coconut flakes (depending on taste) 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract Preparation: Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Unroll puff pastry sheets and place on greased baking sheets. Bake for 15 minutes. You want the puff pastry to be golden and puffed. Remove from oven. Do not turn oven off; you will be using it in a few minutes with the same temp. Break puff pastry into small pieces (about 1-2 inches. Add nuts and coconut and be sure that they are mixed well and evenly distributed. Place nuts and bread in greased 9x12 baking dish. In a saucepan, heat sweetened milk, vanilla, and water on medium heat. Allow to cook for about 3-5 minutes. Remove from heat then allow to cool. Pour milk over puff pastry/nut mixture. Pour creme on top and bake uncovered for 15 minutes. Serve warm.
  16. +Nothing particularly expensive / overclocked AMD FX8 4.0Ghz, Gigabyte 990 moboard, single HIS 7790 and 10gb of generic ram running off a 1tb non-ssd HDD. Runs 8XAA, high settings 1600x900 resolution. Graphics in X Rebirth are on par (so far) with Mass Effect, 1. Lighting seems particularly bad. Plugged in with a Xbox gamepad in the end, which at least works. Been pushing through and trying to play and it is shockingly buggy. Ships appear out of nowhere and disappear as quickly. In high congested area's they just plough right into each other. Asteroids appear in front of you without warning. multiple very large objects are placed close to gate / highway exits (presumably so the xbox people don't have to spend silly time actually flying to places) making the whole scene jumbled and claustrophobic. Not so impressed with the 'land on capital ships' thing (wait, if I am paying you to be the captain, why are you always leaning against that box?? shouldn't you be driving this thing?) Ship area for the title ship, Albion Skunk (Seriously??) is two low resolution rooms. No interaction other than a button to get back to flying. Voice acting sounds like English is a second language to the actors. I'll keep playing to see if it gets better.
  17. No framerate issues for me, but the joystick support is horrible. Pair of footpedals plugged, in couldn't distinguish between the foot pedals and the joystick. Removed the footpedals, whenever any input is detected (even tiny variation on any axis) the mouse input is disabled. Doesn't support movement on two devices at once (be it joystick and pedals, joy and throttle or joy and mouse) my advice, don't play this today. You'll only end up frustrated. Wait a couple of weeks.
  18. Great air show, pity about the Vulcan not making it. Mr Whaley flies Miss Demeanor like he stole it..
  19. Half way through a ppl. Go for a trial lesson, not less than an hour. By the time you land, you'll know :smilewink: It is expensive and you will need to dedicate yourself to it but get the right school and you'll have the most fun in your life. Don't mean to be soppy and poetic, but you'll see sights that change your view on life. 36 definitely isn't too old, but if you think the time might be right, get started. One day you might not get the chance! I regret not starting ten years ago when i hadn't thought of it and I definitely regret not starting when I did three years ago. Get your medical out of the way early. It is very through (you may be asked to cough.) and it may turn up things you don't know. it's about 120£. Until 40 it's once every 5 years if you have no trouble. If do have minor issues, get documentation and testing done before you go for the medical, if you look like you are on the ball and mindful of minor issues it goes a long way. Watch out for some schools, times are hard for GA and If you are learning for fun you are a cash cow that they need to milk to keep operating. Be very clear in what you are paying for and what you are not. Landing fees are a common hidden cost. If you think you're instructor is just punching the clock until an airline job, move. Dont be afraid to ask if they still enjoy flying, you'd be shocked at how many say no! You will have a lot more fun and learn a lot more from someone who enjoys teaching. Training generally covers a set syllabus so if you don't like what's going on, you can move without too much trouble. 45 hours is the legal minimum to get a license in the uk. Its achieveable but planning on being amazing isnt good planning :) You can get an LAPL in 32 hours which with a medical will be allegedly europe wide but is uk only with a doctors note. (you will not be asked to cough.) Ground school is the same as the ppl, so you can pick and choose on that one. Expect 100 hours or more with nose in boring book, but it isn't unreasonably difficult. I have no problems saying the average educated person could pass easily if thy dedicate the time to it. Since the Eu got involved both are for life, but your class ratings expire. Anything I can answer, feel free to pm me.

  21. **EDIT - Actually not from the same sequence. ignore me. Here's a good A10 pic instead.** It's not a standard A10, see this pic from the same sequence, so it could just be some sort of test article or mock up...
  22. Wow, did some googlefu, apparantly the pressure difference caused the autopilot to pitch down, together with the E3's slight climb this produced the effect in the vid. The E3 then performed an emergency landing, the sharp negative G causing some injuries to the crew. Aircraft is supposed to be LX-N90451...
  23. This is my favourite mission hands down, wish more servers would host it! really bored of redcrossmassacre!
  24. I had this problem, a previous poster mentioned it, every disconnect you must reset it using insert key or boom operator will not aim the boom. It will hang limp like... Nevermind... Up in the right hand side of the HUD if you see disconnect it is this 'issue' Other than that, patience, practice and calm is the way to go. Same as the ready pre contact bit, get in position, keep steady and wait and eventually it will respond without you needing to rush and shift position...
