Force feedback vs spring loaded cams ?
ricktoberfest replied to karel88l's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
That second paragraph is a little harsh, but if you read what I said and what the original poster said you’d see that I don’t disagree that it should be great. (It’s ok I can handle it, I’m a big boy) But currently unless you can modify an old stick (which the OP said was beyond him), or in some way have a really good setup, then force feedback in DCS isn’t worth it. I’d like to change my mind someday, and your right that the Logitech extreme is a crappy stick, but there aren’t a whole lot of choices for those who don’t want to create their own modded stick or spend a ton of money to have someone else do it. My negatively wasnt about force feedback itself, it was about the current state of joysticks that offer it and the cost and modding needed to get it to work -
There’s a setting in the “special” category. One eye is realistic as far as I’m aware, but it can be set to both.

Force feedback vs spring loaded cams ?
ricktoberfest replied to karel88l's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Force feedback is fun, but unless you’ve got a good setup and fly mainly helos then I don’t think it’s worth it. Not in DCS at least. I have an old Logitech force 3D extreme that I pull out every once in awhile but the stick isn’t comfortable and doesn’t have many buttons so after a day or 2 it goes back in the box for another year. Not sure about flying the ww2 birds with it as I haven’t tried that yet. -
The games been out for at least 10 years (if you consider a10c and ka50 as part of the base). A model that’s 2 years old doesn’t really seem forgotten, or that old to me. Especially when you never see it up close unless you’re trying to inspect it. I mean, most of the modules have been out since before 2018 too, and while they sometimes get updated, often they don’t for quite a while. (Looking at you F5)

Goodbye to this god awful, toxic community
ricktoberfest replied to Wrightie's topic in Forum and Site Issues
I’m going to agree that there is some truly toxic behavior here, but to me the toxic is people constantly complaining or badgering everybody else to try and make them unhappy. Why does everybody think we all have to be unhappy because they are? Most of us are perfectly happy with our game and eagerly await fixes at the times when it breaks. Usually if one module breaks, I’ll just fly another. Or take a break for a week or 2 until it’s fixed -

Again.. how is that toxic? Seriously. The idea that nobody cares when someone posts an “I’m leaving” rant is toxic? But ranting about how the thing you want hasn’t happened in the way you want it isn’t toxic? If that’s toxic then it’s no wonder that he’s fed up with this place. This is supposed to be a place to ask questions and have fun. I just gave some advice on how to either enjoy his game, or not. His choice. -

No idea. Now I’m just raving about how bad this forum can be. It’s a slow day at work. -

Why would you continue doing this if it didn’t make you happy? It’s the fact that people feel the need to post some rant about why they’re unhappy that triggers me -
Goodbye to this god awful, toxic community
ricktoberfest replied to Wrightie's topic in Forum and Site Issues
That’s just ridiculous. If pointing out something obvious makes people offended well then they should avoid the internet I’m simply pointing out the anything “toxic” would be completely unknown if he just avoided the forums. It’s like looking at YouTube comments and then complaining about them. Why make a post saying goodbye toxic community. Play, or don’t play. Thinking that a bunch of strangers care why you leave is just arrogant or trying to create more toxicity. -

ricktoberfest replied to Wrightie's topic in Forum and Site Issues
So you’re making a toxic post about people being toxic? I don’t generally defend or attack ED. Quite frankly as the best/only modern combat flight sim I’m just happy to be able to fly around and shoot things. Maybe you should play the game but stop trying to play the forums? If you have a problem you could always talk to support instead of a forum of people who are also playing the game. Also means your not getting on the hype train and then getting angry when whatever you’re waiting for doesn’t show up in the way you want it. You have to look at a game/sim like this long term. If you want a game like the others that comes out new every year then maybe this isn’t the place for you to be happy. Overall I’ve been very pleased with the way this hobby has gone over the last 10 years or so and look forward to many more changes, but I’m not so arrogant as to think my particular complaints are going to change the course of either ED or one of their 3rd party devs. Either be happy with what you’ve got or move on. It’s really the only choice most of us have unless we have some particular importance to the companies involved. -
SU-33 JAM/ECM doesn’t affect AIM120 TWS shots
ricktoberfest replied to jwbflyer's topic in Su-33 for DCS World
In game, the only thing jamming does is shorten the range you can lock a target. And it really only works on FC3 aircraft. So only the F15 is susceptible to it on blue side. -
Except the jtac is on a different laser frequency. He needs to fire his tpod laser on the bomb freq

I don’t think they went dark. They released the “fix” and very few people saw any improvement. They even had a forum poll for people to report any difference. Since then it’s been quiet of course but that’s most likely cause the fix didn’t really work.

DCS: F-14 Development Update - Enter the -A!

Has heatblur been around for 7 years? -
Fanboy? Me? Haha. No, I’m just sarcastic. It’s our families “love language” Typical angry response: blame all dissent on fanboys and (insert political party here)

Ah. Your message makes more sense than the op’s rant. When he said active missile it sounded like he meant the missile itself shows up in the rwr

I don’t know if it works on the viper, but in the a10 I have the lss set to the jtac, and the tpod designator set to whatever the bombs are with airplane turned on. The lss is for spotting the target and aligning the tpod, and then when I drop the bomb the tpod designates the target with the correct code.

Almost like it was a Fox 3 launched in TWS mode?

Should I get a VR set and if so which one ?
ricktoberfest replied to jfri's topic in Virtual Reality
I don’t remember what it stands for Asynchronus space warp or something like that It’s supposed to make 40fps feel like 80 or 45 like 90 by interjecting frames in between the actual frames but it makes things jumpy in my case. Like the interjected frames aren’t quite right when things are moving quickly across the screen. I’d rather just have the regular 40 -

ricktoberfest replied to jfri's topic in Virtual Reality
If it’s mainly for flight sims get the reverb. I have a rift S and while it’s an ok product, oculus support for it has been horrible. All the updates are for the quest. I wouldn’t use a quest for flight simming right now. They might figure out the link thing later but for now it’s just not as good as a regular headset. You should be able to use the reverb, but as with all VR, your FPS will be lower and graphics settings will have to be lower too. I have a 3570k at 4.5Ghz with a Vega 64 and can get it to 45 FPS single player or 30ish multiplayer. I don’t use the ASW as i can’t stand what it does to the graphics. Recently I went back to my monitor just to check it out again. Everything was so clear, and FPS was above 120 in single player, but it’s just not the same anymore and I’ll take the vr issues just for that feeling of actually being in the cockpit. -
