  1. Get the Dora and F86 also if you don't have them yet. Unfortunately the Mig-15 wasn't on sale this round because it looks awesome to fly online.

I wanted to know if I'm missing the correct file location for the F-86 Lods and see if people would be interested or think it would be a good idea to create a "Universal Mod" for WWII/Korea era planes since alot of servers are running the P-51/Dora in Korea missions also. I thought about asking the ACG WWII mod creator if it would be ok to throw an adjusted Mig/F-86 Lod Mod in it since alot of guys fly both Korean/WWII anyways. It would be nice if most of the WWII/Korean servers could agree on one mod to use because removing/adding a mod to fly on just one server can get old. Is DCSWorld/Coremods/aircraft/F-86/shapes the correct location because I only see this located there?   3. The ACG mod changes things other than just the gunsmoke ... like the LoD settings for the WWII birds. You can download a separate mod to remove the gunsmoke from the Sabre that work. It would be nice if the guys that run the Korean War server would make a similar pack with reduced gunsmoke, external sounds (not really a problem here), and slightly adjusted the Lods.

  5. Well the F-4, Mig-23, Mirage, and Mig-25 all saw action in that theater so they would make great additions to it and elsewhere.
  6. Combat has been going off/on in that region for more than 3 decades so it would be ripe for activity with alot of planes that are modeled or on the way.

  8. Agreed, map location isn't as important to me as having the ships, ground units, etc. They could put a Normandy map in tomorrow but if they don't include the other units if would be mostly pointless for a WWII mission planner.
  9. If we get shot in the tail we can lose elevator control now? Haven't flown the K4 much since mid-Jan but after taking some damage to the tail I was unable to pull up or push the nose down.
  10. Well we don't have to worry about fighting on any historical mission servers because they are pretty much air quake missions now with cold war era ground units if they have any at all. I'm not saying that their should be mission slots for Bearcats, P-40s, etc on every mission but hopefully combat servers will have slots for these aircraft from time to time. I look forward to seeing how the Bearcat preforms in combat even if that means I'm flying the K-4/D-9 since it was introduced so late in the war.
  11. Yeah I hope to see it on combat servers ... it probably won't be much worse than the Spit XIV as far as unbalancing the servers anyway. The Bearcat was operational and was in no way a paper napkin plane so it deserves a slot.

  13. Hopefully the engine management gets some more work if it indeed isn't getting the correct overheats and associated problems. This is one of the things with the DCS ME 262 development that I hope get alot of attention because early jet engines had alot of problems especially when handled improperly.
  14. Should call this the K-4 Windex mod. :thumbup: Changed the F-86 reflection crap yesterday and cleaned up the K-4 today. Thanks to all the modders out there doing the good work.
  15. Hopefully we will see some level of DCS Ground Forces with realistic, accurate modeled tanks but I'd wait until at least EDGE/Normandy Map comes out to gauge if it would be worth your time. Wait to see how much the WWII MP community picks up at that point and talk with ED to see if they are even interested. My guess is that you will need much more than the original manual to make a tank for DCS and you should talk to other 3rd party devs about the their processes. Just make sure you have an opponent on the battle field for whatever you create ... don't let it be like the Mustang and sit by itself. Hopefully with EDGE the servers will be able to manage higher numbers of players for something like this or multiplayer crewed aircraft to work properly.
  16. 25 on the Korean War server last night. I don't have the Mig yet but it looks like a great warbird from the Sabre's point of view.
  17. Currently there is just the one HUGE map for both but more are on the way. WWII units, map, etc are still under development along with a large numbers of new modules from 3rd parties. There are some basic missions but nothing like the BS2 or A10 modules. Really until we get the ground units and maps its going to be pretty hard to do. Try the P-51 trainer model if your interested in trying the WWII planes ... its free. You can catch all the modules on huge discounts from time to time also.
  18. Good video especially showing the axis for reference points. Keep the rudder to the right to start with, pull the stick back to the right slightly, accelerate to 2700 rpm a little quicker, and put the stick back to the neutral position more smoothly once you hit the 150-180 kph range. Once you figure out the rudder control a little better you can stay on the ground with the tail up by pushing the stick slightly forward of neutral to built up more speed before lifting off.
  19. I was flying the Mustang yesterday with a K-4 and Dora on my tail ... it wasn't very hard to evade their attacks with the simple hard up and left turn. Dora could never make that maneuver to begin with and it appeared the K-4 couldn't do it either as it tried but couldn't pull anywhere close enough to follow. Hopefully they address the wing breaking bug soon enough because it seems worse than before.
  20. Yes. Just have the server apply the mods when someone joins and then when it gets updated or changed nobody has to worry about having the correct version. Would definitely make it simple for those that play on multiple servers that have mod checks and or those that just want to jump on for awhile.
  21. Download the ACG mod to fly on their server ... much easier to spot enemy planes with the changes they made. They also removed the exterior sounds, gun smoke bug, and added a tracer for the K-4s 30mm.
  22. Is there a way that mods can be forced on the server side so people didn't have to worry about finding certain mods or downloading them?
  23. It will be fine if those that fly it use it correctly. Just like any of the others (Dora, Mustang, etc) you will want to go in with a height and speed advantage or fly with a wingman if you want to trim the grass. Simply do your best to not allow the enemy to get in a decent position or disengage. I think I went 6-1 (crashed the landing because of vulchers) yesterday in the P-51 which I probably have flown 10 or so times since July. Those that fly on the deck will deserve to be shot down and I have no pity for them. You don't have to climb to 30k to be effective but you do need to climb in the 10-15k range.
  24. Maybe I caught a leftover or something because I killed a FW190 Ai and there were 14-17 players on the server. I run the mod pack 1.1 but I was flying allies for a change so I didn't really notice a huge difference in Axis skins. I understand why they are included and your server isn't the only one that has to use them. Guess I'm just tired of the "air quake" or "airfield vulching quake" missions and miss the more patrol oriented or actual mission types but I'm probably in the minority on that.
  25. I really hope you guys consider it and this would a great aircraft to be able to put 2 people in it. Pilot and having a friend be a gunner ... :joystick:
