  1. First of all, this complaint would probably go better in the Mig21 part of the forum. Second, you must be mindful that the Mig21 radar is very limited. It cannot look down, it takes a few seconds to sweep a sector so you don't get immediate radar returns. If an opponent is spoofing the radar with ECM you can use the ECM filter buttons right over the radar screen to burn through the ECM. If you can't even locate the enemy while using the outside view, then maybe the problem isn't really with the Mig21.
  2. Have you tried using Right CTRL + Enter to show the little inputs window and see if there is any weird inputs being made?
  3. Grattis på födelsedagen.
  4. Depends on how good your aim is. Firing two at once can mean missing with both at the same time. I usually prefer firing one at a time. Lets me make 2 attempts if the first misses. If I hit on first try, I can use the second Kh-66 against another target, dump it if theres still more to do in the mission after that, or just bring it back home since the autopilot doesn't seem to be bothered much by it.
  5. The amount of degrees depends on how much you need to correct. ;) I've never had a case where my ass hit the tarmac before my wheels, so don't be a afraid to flare as needed when putting it down. I recorded two small tracks where I land. I'm a bit out of shape, but I manage to get down without any major problems. I usually land with the RSBN landing system glideslope on, so this was a new for me as well. XD LandingDemo01.trk LandingDemo02.trk
  6. Watched the track. You have to work on your flaring (pithing up the nose before contact). Especially the first attempt, you pretty much just pound right into the runway and bump right off again. The second time it's better, but your descent rate is still some +6 m/s. Ideally you'd like to flare in a way that leaves you with a descent rate of 1-2 m/s before you touch the runway.
  7. You are talking to a crowd who enjoys playing games with a shit-ton of physics and buttons just for the hell of it. "Easier" is not in sim enthusiast's dictionary.
  8. Eh. Why not just ignore it? While I'm not a fan of people putting up threads asking for updates on something, I don't condone making it forbidden. The developers put up news when they have something new to report. Just ignoring threads where people ask for updates would usually lead to people not making those threads as nothing ever comes out of it.
  9. It is somewhat unrealiable. First of all, it works an arc that swings back and forth in front of the plane and the manual recommends that you give it 15 seconds to give you a full sweep of what is in front of you. Second, it only scans 1 degree below your horizontal line, which means that it essentially only points upwards. These are just some of its limitations. I recommend reading the manual and other threads in this forum to get a full insight into what the radar can do.
  10. UOAF have been flying this campaign every sunday for the last couple of weeks, and we managed to win it. Great stuff man, easily the best DCS experience we've had. ;)
  11. Hmm, they made a change to the radio recently that may be the cause of the problem now that I think about it. Before I only needed to press my ' button (next to enter) to activate the radio, but since a recent update I now have to use Right ALT + ' to get the proper radio.
  12. It could sound like the problem I reported a good while ago. It affects most of the missions that ships with the module. The fix is to open them in the editor, make a minor change an saving it again. See this thread for elaboration: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=130537
  13. Well the problem is that I have never felt that it was missing. No problems with bombing runs, dogfights, landings or anything. I was just wondering what other people thought of rudder usage, seeing how little impact rudders has on my flying.
  14. Thx for the input guys. I will see if I can't get rudders more incorporated in my flying, especially for the prop planes. ;)
  15. Just to make sure I understood it correctly, was the problem at the end that he pulled in his flaps and then lost the lift?
  16. I've always considered DCS to be one of the more lenient DRM games that I own. Never had to retype a code after a module buy or be inconvenienced in any way. This thread rings hollow to me.
  17. In Soviet Russia, jet engine warms up YOU!
  18. Hmm, I can't replicate it. Just made a simple mission where I put my Mig-21 cold and dark in Anapa and started talking to the ground crew, no problem.
  19. http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=130537 It has been problem since day one, and it seems to only occur in the "official" missions like training, instant mission and campaign. Not a problem with multiplayer or missions that has been made since the module was released. The Fix: In short, you will have to open your missions in the editor, make a minor inconsequential change, and then save it. Now the radio systems should be working properly again.
  20. You wouldn't happen to be able to link to some good video's would you? The only videos I can find on the subject of rudder only goes as far as saying "It's to keep the slip ball centered when turning". Can't find any comprehensive source on why one should bother with the rudder.
  21. I am actually not kidding when I'm asking this, but what is the best way to utilize rudders while dogfighting? I have a Saitek combat pro rudder pedals set, but I tend to find that I shy away from using it while flying fixed wing crafts. Obviously while I'm flying the helicopters I use it a lot, but outside taxiing I hardly ever touch them when using the SU-25T, SU-27, FW-190 or Mig-21. Now I usually never have any trouble blowing any opponent out of the sky in a guns dogfight using just pitch and roll, but I'm pretty certain that there's a good use for rudders in combat, although in my experience touching the rudders will just make me swerve wildly and disturb the energy of my plane. Any offers on when rudders are useful?
  22. Yeah I was considering that, but and extra column would have taken up too much space and it seems that the effective ranges are somewhat unrealiable numbers, so I decided to focus on the most critical information first ;)
  23. I used to have a damn hard time figuring out how to land properly, but then I watched some of Bunyap Sims video's on youtube where he meticulously goes through the landing procedures as described in the manual and put the plane down, as well as watching cockpit recordings of how real pilots do it. These days I often land at some 330 km/h, but it's important to do some good flaring right at the end, hit that sweet spot of 1-2 M/S of drop and reducing the throttle by some 10% to get it all the way down and reduce the chance of bouncing off the runway. The nose usually finds it's way down on the pavement by itself and then it's just a matter of deploying the chute. Setting the RSBN channels for the airport and do a ILS landing to give you an optimal approach angle also helps quite a bit to get down safely.
  24. I made this a while back, but I might as well post it here as well. A while back I made a small list of some of the weapons for the Mig-21 with notes on what they are for in the kneeboard. Just because I had trouble deciphering how they worked just from their names. Just take this file: https://dl.dropboxus...CSworld/004.jpg and put it in the path: "C:\Users\YourName\Saved Games\DCS\Kneeboard\". It will now show up on your kneeboard inside the game. In my case, the list looks like this: https://dl.dropboxus...0110_013220.jpg
  25. Very nice. ;)
