  1. ^^The monitor itself connects to the PC via the normal connections, ie VGA or DVI. The touch screen overlay has a seperate connection, usually USB. That is a really awesome Touch Buddy profile for Black Shark. Nice work!
  2. Is there no chance you could get a refund from Newegg then? Going through 3 mobos doesn't give much hope for finding one that works...
  3. Maybe something has gone wrong with the bridge? Could explain why you had the SLI option before and now it has disappeared?
  4. What Windows are you using? XP or Vista? Might be a silly question, but it's something I worked out the hard way a few years ago when I first tried SLI. After Windows XP is installed, you need to install at least SP1 before installing the nVidia drivers for the SLI option to appear. If you installed the nVidia drivers before the Service Packs, you'll need to uninstall then reinstall the nVidia drivers to get SLI again. Not sure if this is you're problem as you mentioned you had the SLI option at some point.
  5. I was amazed for a second...but then I felt silly :P
  6. Don't worry fellas, Urze will get you your goods. I ordered the collective mod just before Christmas, and received it at the beginning of this week (took around 2.5 weeks for the item to get from Germany to Australia). It was well worth the wait, the thing is freaking awesome!:joystick:
  7. The main export of Chuck Norris is pain...
  8. Will it be tomorrow?
  9. Awesome news! I hope this happens!
  10. Great video Urze! Did you say that the touch screen is a 17" monitor?
  11. You're talking about the Default Spring setting. Try changing the Spring Gain to 38%, my stick is working now exactly how it should with trim. But like I said, I basically got rid of the mechanical spring first!
  12. Hadjuk, have you tried the force settings for the Evo Force I suggested above? It seems to be giving me the required trim effect.
  13. Okay, after a little playing around, I think I've got good force settings for the Saitek Evo force. Bear in mind that I've essentially incapacitated the mechanical spring. You can either try to remove it, or keep it compressed using tie wires (at your own risk!). Try setting the 'Force' settings for the stick (in the stick's Control Panel) to these: - Default spring = 0% - Spring gain = 38% - Other options at 100% This seems to give a good balance of force and spring to achieve the required effect while trimming. However, when pitching up with the joystick, there still seems to be a slight tendency for it to re-centre. You can use the Force Feedback Diagnostic Program to test the settings and find settings that work for you. It can be found at the bottom of this page. http://www.fs-force.com/support.htm
  14. From what I heard, the main differences of the X-52 Pro compared to the original version : - Slightly better accuracy - Removal of a 'deadzone' found on the original X-52. - Better spring resistance - Looks more realistic, as it's black, compared to the Star Trek look of the original But yeah, the X-52 pro can be considerably more expensive
  15. Miguez, if you've got your MSFFB2 force feedback working well in DCS (ie trim), you might want to keep using it in conjunction with a CH throttle or a X52 throttle. It seems like a pretty good combo. RichardG, I think all of the Saitek sticks use the SST software to programme the buttons.
  16. I got one of these about a month ago. I'm getting the same problem. The trim works to a degree, and releases most of the pressure of having to hold the stick in place. But it doesn't remain in position as the MSFFB2 does in Urze's vid demo. I've tried different force settings for the stick, but any changes results in no trim force at all. Oh, and I removed the mechanical spring. It's definitely not just the spring that causes a tendency to re-centre.
  17. To be honest, I think I would get Windows 7 if it offered the performance increase in DCS that Vista offers over XP, but brings back the span display mode...
  18. If it really is just Vista on a diet, I hope when released it doesn't cost as much as Vista did on release.
  19. According to the Gateway Support site, the specifications for your PC say that it's an Athlon 64 X2 4400+ (2.3GHz) CPU. You could upgrade the CPU quite cheaply, but I'm not sure what kind of performance increase you would see going to, say, an Athlon 64 X2 6000+ 3.1GHz CPU. Also, the Gateway website says your PC has a 300W power supply. It may not be enough to run an nVidia 8600. I'm going by the BFG specs for the 8600 OC, but it says it requires a 325W PCI-e compliant power supply. You might be able to run the 8600 with you current power supply, you might not.
  20. Awesome! Thanks for the WIP pics. Merry Christmas everyone!
  21. I bought the Saitek Evo Force yesterday and so far I'm pretty happy with it. However, within 30 mins of using it I decided to remove the mechanical spring. I don't know why it was included, because it just seemed pointless on a force feedback stick. Without the spring, the trim function works pretty well. It does still spring back slightly if you were to let go of the stick, but it does significantly reduce the pressure needed to keep the stick in the required position. I haven't really had a chance to play with the force settings - I have the Overall Force Gain, Damper Gain, Spring Gain, and Default Spring Gain options at 100%. There could be better settings for these. As far as accuracy goes, I think I've been able to fly the Ka-50 pretty well with the Evo Force. I'm having to use the twist rudder control at the moment, which is a pain, so it'll probably be better with pedal controls.
  22. I think the stupidest thing I've ever done is still not having bought the sim! :P
