I run VR on a 1080; I7-7800HK at 4.3Ghz; 32Gb ram; 170% SS; Odyssey HMD; and get kind of okay performance in the weeds. I have spent hours upon hours tweeking to get it. DCS is strange though because I don't always get the same performance for the same settings in the same replay.... and often get better performance setting some things HIGHER *shrugs*. Here's some hunting in the weeds on GS with about 50 players with FPSVR overlayed so you can see the performance. It's not great but not terrible either. I have shadows on LOW and clouds on standard, steam per app at 170%, tree's 100%, steam reprojection enabled, shared parser = true, yada yada yada. This is a replay but the performace is the same... probably better live because I'm not recording. You can see a few stutters but not that many. I've also noticed some modules are a little easier on my GPU/CPU than others (Viper being one of the easier ones imo... and why I'm in it!).

Cool... We should get together on Discord. Just hop in whenever. I'm in Corpus Christi and fly late at night. https://discord.gg/QxVC8U7N

COOP mission 4
LithiumR replied to LithiumR's topic in P-51D: The Blue Nosed Bastards of Bodney Campaign
Also want to add: Thank you SO much for including a couple coop missions. Flying in DCS is a way for my son and I to “hangout” when we are far away from each other and having cool coop missions is awesome for that. So thanks! -
I should have searched. I should have known.

COOP mission 4
LithiumR replied to LithiumR's topic in P-51D: The Blue Nosed Bastards of Bodney Campaign
Okay... thanks! We’re flying it again tonight. Also: having a blast with your campaign!! Thanks for making it! -
I know you can coop a single mission but the best missions are made by the people making paid campaigns (not always but mostly)... but sadly you can’t edit them (totally understand why) to add a client wingman. So I really wish people who made campaigns had a way to make the campaign coop via the campaign engine. That would be pretty cool. Plus it would be cool for modules that accommodate 2 crew... F14 . Anyway, I’ve been flying DCS since 2012 mostly mp but I’ve recently started flying campaigns and they are soooooo GOOD! I had no idea what I was missing out on! But I just wish I could fly them with a friend or two!!

COOP mission 4
LithiumR replied to LithiumR's topic in P-51D: The Blue Nosed Bastards of Bodney Campaign
That was a really fast reply!! Sooo... there is an orange circle that shows up on F10 that’s says rendezvous point and a wp on the knee board but the 2 aren’t in the same place. We orbited the wp 1 on the knee board but at 8 nothing happened so we moved to the orange circle on F10 and orbited a while. (We did get a message that bombers were late) mostly just wondering how close to the wp do you have to be? I guess we’ll try again with a tighter orbit. Maybe a screw up on our part. Idk if we were right at 23k feet either. We were just conning a circle haha. Maybe we need to tighten up -
My son and I both got the campaign to play the COOP missions but on the first one (COOP mission 4 I think) we never got bombers. Just wondering what the specific trigger is. We play DCS a lot in MP but this is the first campaign we’ve done so maybe we missed something (but I think we did everything right). Also on mission one I got told that “We don’t fly that close, we’re not a display squadron” or something like that hahaha. I love it. I feel like having flown in DCS since 2012 and never doing campaigns I might have been missing out. This seems awesome... I wish there were more COOP missions though! Very cool so far.

This has added a lot of clarity for me with minimal perf impact. I don’t notice anymore shimmering than normal but definitely notice more clarity. No MSAA, PD 1.0, SVR 180%, shared parser=true. 1080 original odyssey i7 7820hk @ 4.3Ghz 32GB Ram

Same issue here. DCS continues to run but SteamVR stops. Tried switching both steamvr and wmr from beta to release with no change.

Awesome!! Thanks!!

Ageing legacy 3d models - Will they all be overhauled?
LithiumR replied to Konovalov's topic in DCS Core Wish List
I think what a subscription based model would most surely do is kill any new blood. There are a lot of new people online who started with the free SU-25 and ended up buying the Hornet cause it's soooo cool. Those people would have never played to begin with under a subscription model so.... there's that. -
For modern jets I leave labels off.... but in the warbirds it's no fun to fly around for an hour and not see anyone. Would be nice to use the labels to enhance the lack of scaling in DCS if they could fix some fundamental problems with labels.... like cockpit masking.
-
I love the DCS warbirds.... I wish they were more popular in mp though.

Decrease engine volume when canopy is closed
LithiumR replied to DayGlow's topic in How To Mod for DCS World
Have you tried checking the box for "hear like in helmet" in the sound options tab? -
You don't really have to do anything in the Saitek software.. though at some point you'll probably want to. Just double click the control you want in DCS and then click the button on the X56 that you want to perform that command (Buttons on the joystick/throttle do NOT have to be associated with a keyboard key). That should be enough to get you started. You really only need to make adjustments in the Saitek software for things that the DCS bindings come up short on. For example: in many modules calling for bogey dope cannot be mapped to a joystick... but you can make an advanced macro in the Saitek software that will hit the appropriate keys (\ F2 F4 or whatever) with one button press. Also if you are running the A10C I highly recommend that you create a modifier. For me I use the pinky switch on the stick. This will effectively double the amount of bindings you can create in DCS. When you go in controls at the bottom there should be a button that says "modifier". Click that button. In the drop down menu select the appropriate Joystick and then click the button you want to make the modifier. Now when you bind your controls you can use them twice. For example.... Trigger for guns, or pinky + trigger for weapon release. Happy binding!! Edit: I have attached my Saitek .pro profile and my DCS bindings for you to check out if you'd like. Feel free to edit them to suit your own needs. X56 H.O.T.A.S. Stick {065B1B10-88F1-11e8-8001-444553540000}.diff.lua X56 H.O.T.A.S. Throttle {065D8C10-88F1-11e8-800B-444553540000}.diff.lua A10C.zip

Is there anyway to talk you in to adding some warbirds? Maybe around Sochi or something? I see that people have already asked... but you don't have to own the modules to put them in anymore I think? Anyway, would be cool. Thanks for the server!!
-
Agreed!! To me this is one of the best modules in DCS.

The F5 is fun to fly and will teach you things that will make you better in other planes (like energy management)... but to fly it pvp you must be looking for a challenge if you are up against modern jets. You can win but it is difficult (which I like ... sometimes ha ha). The model itself is starting to show it's age though.

I use it to lure people into the mountains... usually over a sam site so when they go defensive from the sam I pounce them. That's about it ha ha. I got guns on an F15 this way just this morning in GS :P
