DCS: F-14A/A+/B by Heatblur Simulations coming to DCS World!
GeorgeLKMT replied to Cobra847's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
That's NASA test bird used at Dryden, F-14A had screens just like on that photo below. -
I'm sorry but I'm somehow missing your point here. ED is working hard on these tools and they're complex, so they shoudln't be released publicly because of that? Or perhaps I don't understand what you mean here really... How come I can use UE4 for free, something that's 10 times more complex than "just" map tools we're talking about? Or any other free software or content creation tools for games out there... that might be just as complex? My own theory is (I'll be glad if somebody tells me why I'm wrong), that they don't want map tools public so there won't be any free mods directly competing with ED's paid content. Some folks might create highly detailed theater for free and people are going to say "why should I pay for ED's stuff if I can just download this...". Maybe I'm wrong, but that's something that makes sense to me right now. OR, but I'm really guessing here, their map tools are somehow tied to the core so it's not possible to just release simple "map editor" without revealing some basic framework of their engine, and they don't want that for obvious reasons... But who knows, really.

Alright, thank you guys. :)

Two questions. EO mav timer: Can't find it in manual, but will mav seeker get damaged if I leave it on for a long time? Is there a limit? CDU warm start: After landing, my CDU displays error and then it shows warm start. Well, I found what does it mean, but is there anything I have to worry about if I want to takeoff again? I only noticed that I have to set my STEER PT to FLT PLAN again. Anything else I have to set up, or just takeoff and leave that WARM START note there...?

Nice, I'm looking forward to it. I guess that font is just WIP placeholder, I have attached a detailed photo that shows how it should look. Pay attention to the shape of the numbers. From what I found, blue should be FS15180 (#1D599F), dunno about the orange, I can look some more...

What kind of Headtracking system are you using?
GeorgeLKMT replied to Griffon26's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Alright, thanks :) I guess that wouldn't be an issue for me, as long as it works. -

What does that mean? I'm considering building this setup and I'd like to know what I'm getting into. Why those settings won't stay? -
:hehe:

Q: Will EDGE have [something that's not in the first post of this thread]? A: We don't know and nobody will tell us! ;)

Yup. That's what I'm counting on because I want to build it myself (TIR is stupidly overpriced, I don't care if it works), but there's probably no way I could get a model with removable filter... -
Then use Sim. Some modules have it named as Sim, some Real. It's the same thing, you just don't want Arcade or Easy. ;)
-
DX11 is 5 years old. Chances are, if your GPU can't support DX11, it doesn't matter because it's probably old crap anyway. ;)
-
I must have a different DCS then (10x speed)

View -> Dialogs -> Show liveries dialog. Small window pop up, on the left side you select the aircraft you're painting, on the right the livery you want.

Mustang's land textures zip file package
GeorgeLKMT replied to Mustang's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
Are you guys using that modified high.lua? For me, that was actually the reason for the performance drop by itself. -
Basically: Standard viewer (in the Bin folder): - Will crash everytime you'll try to open it directly by clicking the exe - Need a batch file so it won't crash. -- If it's still crashing even when batch file, then unfortunately I don't know why - Displays all the textures from your normal liveries folder (\DCS World\Bazar\Liveries) and you can select the one you need with liveries dialog. - I don't think it can display textures from any other folder, so if you want to paint CoreMods aicraft (MiG-15, 21 etc..) which don't have textures there, you'll either have to make proper entry in \Bazar\Liveries folder with description.lua or use the standalone. Standalone (the one you download and install separately) - Shouldn't crash and therefore doesn't need a batch file at all, just click the exe - If it's crashing, try different version. - You need to put the textures manually into \edModelViewer\Bazar\TempTextures - If that still doesn't work, I don't know either... That's all I have up in my sleeves.
-
No worries, I guess it's just got all mixed up for us. Standalone textures: I still find it weird that the standard modeviewer crashes for you though... it'll crash only when you run it directly but that's what the batch file is for.
-
You should have batch file in the main folder with this parameter: bin\ModelViewer.exe
-
Nope, just use the batch file to run that exe and that's it.
-
This is actually in that thread I linked before: 7) Help! I get "Warning Missing Texture" in place of my texture!! A) Put your textures in \Bazar\TempTextures of your Modelviewer install. So I guess that's it. That's why I'm using the included one, because it's using standard liveries folder and I can switch in between skins if I need to.
-
I'm using the included one, but if I remember correctly, you have to put your textures in TempTextures folder in your edmodelviewer installation.
-
There's a modelviewer.exe included with DCS installation in \bin folder that has to be open with batch file. Standalone, the one that you download and install, should open on its own.
-
I had the same problem, but maximizing actually solved the it. Does it crash with some error or just closes when you hit maximize? Have you tried working with standalone version? By the way, are you just clicking on that thumbnail or right click - maximize? Only the latter works. Modelviewer is open, only somewhere out of your desktop where you can't see it.
-
Is the batch file 100% correct? Does it not open at all or can you at least see it on taskbar down there?
-
All the relevant stuff is in the first post. When they will have something for us, they'll do another update thread and there will be a FAQ on leatherneck site coming soon as well ;)
