1. :D I guess screw me for not looking here or reading the manual first before I took off in the 21, maybe my first flight would have been longer. Takeoff wasn't a problem though the shaking did make me think I was going to wreck at any moment. Of course my gear didn't go up. Kept hitting G to raise it. I figured there was a lever I had to hit before raising the gear. Because I didn't RTFM I didn't know which lever to hit and just started clicking on things near the gear indicator. Well I never found the lever to unlock the gear but I did find out which one I shouldn't hit during flight:
2. I don't think we're getting an answer for awhile on this and I don't blame them. They've been receiving potshots here and there on the forums for quite awhile, I would think they'd want to bask in the adoration they are now getting for a bit before they announce anything that is going to bring the pitchforks back out.
3. Excellent and unexpected news to wake up to, can't wait for the 18th!
4. I'll have to try your mission out tomorrow, got back later than I expected. However, just running through some of the small practice missions I've made previously for myself as a bit of a shooting range I did notice that the gunners do not seem to be as effective as they used to be, gunners were not as quick to kill things with the miniguns as I remember them being. Not that I mind the change, but definitely means it has to be taken into account when attacking. I didn't see your post asking about combat employment from hover until after my testing, but I do feel as though my speed had an impact on the gunners. Will have to test this out more in depth tomorrow.
5. That is definitely a problem and I feel bad for you guys. I doubt this idea helps, but is there another variant of the L-39 that isn't being produced by ED you could do? One that you could roll over your existing L-39C work into so you wouldn't have to scratch all that work you've done so far? I'm not familar with the aircraft so I don't know how many variants there are.
6. Not sure what you are getting at here. You were mentioning ED just happening to have a cockpit that VP would need for their module, suggesting a potential sale of that cockpit to VP to finish VP's L-39. Since ED's module is set for release in 2014 by Wags own statement, obviously they have a flight model and external model, not just a cockpit. So where does the real PJT pilot come in to what I said?
7. What makes you think ED only has a cockpit? Wags said it was due for release at end of 2014, sounds like more than a cockpit in their possession.
8. If no one can confirm anything with the gunners before I get home (will be awhile) I'll fire her up and do a gunning run to see what happens.
9. Thanks Sith. Good to hear, hopefully they do decide to include them. Would be fun to go crossing the channel to attack RAF airfields, even though that wasn't taking place during the period the planes we have now were flying (and I'm sure the Allied side will enjoy the reverse). Could always do an alternate timeline campaign where the Germans managed to steamroll back the Allied advance to some degree. Maybe Allied mismanagement, Germany having hidden resources that suddenly got brought out and/or Hitler and higher level party members being assassinated and replaced by actually competent leaders (supposed to be that Allies rejected plan to assassinate Hitler because they felt his "leadership" did more to help the Allies than hinder). Makes a nice scenario until we have a late war map or BoB period aircraft.
10. I imagine many DCS carrier landings would look like this, just with a fireball at the end of it:
11. At least it is in the center and further up in the cockpit, have never liked having to look down and to the right just to see the display. Would love to have an Su-25KM or a MiG-29 Sniper. With the Sniper, maybe since it's a project that got shelved the info would be easier to obtain than something in modern Russian active service?
12. Definitely, as much as I like the Su-33 I can't see them doing the flight model for it until they have working carrier ops first.
13. This was posted on a WWII German Aircraft FB page, figured I'd pass it on for skinners.
14. Man when Wags talked about a "much larger update" he wasn't kidding around. Looks like we won't be waiting as long as I thought on the MiG-15, that cockpit looks great!
15. Odd statement I see on the link provided: Sounds like one heck of a falling out, so guess we won't be seeing their stuff in DCS. Wonder if this was over the RRG thing?
16. It would be nice to have the tailhook working and the ability to call the airfield to have them put at the arresting gear during emergency. There have been moments when landing the F-15 where having something to stop the plane other than the grass at the end of the runway would have been nice. Probably won't be seen until we get a full fidelity F-15 though.
17. Sorry DB, happens to me a lot so I guess I had to get one in finally at least lol. Here's the youtube video of it, unless of course I get ninja'd next.
18. ED Facebook just posted a teaser trailer for K4
19. Thanks for the heads up Krupi, sorry to hear about Brown 4. I was planning on using GIMP since that's what I've been using to make a Dora nose art decal, guess using it now is out of the question. Did not know that, thanks. Don't really have need of photoshop for the most part so even the month-to-month subscription option they have wasn't something I considered, so no problem for me using an old version that is free.
20. Hugs are verboten!
21. While on the subject of skinning, I've been meaning to ask this. If I wanted to slap a nose art decal I've created to an existing livery that has been made by someone else (whether ED created or player created) for my own personal use on single player, is this possible to do and how easy is it to accomplish?
22. My takeoffs were initially very bad (worse than P-51) with the Dora until I realized that when I assigned each toe brake axis for my Saitek pedals, the axis for both was inverted for some reason. Meaning that the brakes would apply when I was not applying them on the pedals, but when I applied a toe brake on the controller that specific brake would release in the sim instead (or both would release when I attempted to apply them both). I've been doing takeoff from runway and not taxiing, which is why I didn't pick up on it for a bit. It drove me nuts, I kept wondering why the aircraft would go in the opposite direction I intended, and sometimes I ended up doing donuts on the runway thanks to the confusion. Good thing I didn't hop on the DoW server yet lol. I finally noticed the problem when I happened to spot how the brakes/pedals in the virtual cockpit would respond. I don't recall this happening with my axis assignment with the P-51. Once I went into the axis tune and inverted them, I was able to have normal brake application. I still keep crashing and burning at the moment on takeoff, but I'm at least making it much further down the runway than I did previously.
23. This^^^ Consider learning to build one yourself. Not hard to do as you might think, biggest thing in my opinion is making sure the components you buy are compatible with each other. Make sure you are grounded before handling components. If you need help on something there are plenty of support forums and youtube tutorials. I would have spent more money for my PC if I bought it online or paid someone to assemble it, was much cheaper just to do it myself. Once I knew what I was going to put inside, I then shopped around and looked for deals.
24. Diveplane just curious, are you working on a 190D6 audio and weapons sounds? I thought I recalled seeing engine audio for the Dora when it was an AI, but I'm not seeing it in the user files so I'm guessing that I'm incorrect in this.
