Does the current DCS support 7.1 surround?
GodsPrototype posted a topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
I was wondering if the current version of DCS supports 7.1 surround audio. If not, does anyone know if it will be supported in EDGE? Thanks in advance! -
Activation lost due to Win crash
GodsPrototype replied to BitMaster's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
You can deactivate your modules, but since you formatted your computer, you must contact ED to reset all you activations. TBH, I think you shouldn't worry about it and only start to contact ED when you are low on activations and then ask ED to reset them. ED is a good company, they will reset it for you if you explain the situation, it happens more often than you think. And as Tone71 said, do you really think you're going to use all 9 of them? I did notice there is a manual product deactivation page on the DCS website, but I'm not sure what it does, nor do I know what the hardware code is: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/personal/licensing/deactivate.php Otherwise, contact ED by starting a new ticket: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/support/new.php Good luck! -

@hegykc, any updates or progress? I would really like to hear some news about how it's going. -
New to DCS, two questions...
GodsPrototype replied to brettt777's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
1: There are mods that allow you to fly the F-22 and F/A-18 in DCS, but with either ugly cockpits or other cockpits in game, so it wont function well at all. I personally don't use it. 2: If you have DCS modules installed, and you update your DCS, everything will still work. No need to re-install or anything, it just auto updates everything. -
Starting out (Joystick recommendation)
GodsPrototype replied to enique's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
For anyone saying that a force sensing stick is the same as the F-16 stick, not really. The F-16 stick is force sensing, and so is the F-35 and F-22. However, the pilots who originally flew the F-16 complained about how the stick did not move. Then you are looking around it is hard to tell where the center of the stick is or what your stick's current position is. That is why all force sensing sticks in actual aircraft today have a bit of movement so that the pilot does not get disoriented with his/her stick. If there is a mod to loosen the X65F, that would be nice. All in all, the Warthog is the most precise stick I've ever used. -

I had the exact same conflict. I was able to use the X65F in store eventually. Problem is, unlike actual force sensing sticks, the X65F doesn't move AT ALL. Force sensing sticks today, such as the F-16 stick or F-22 stick slightly move. It doesn't affect on the controls, it only allows the pilot to have a feeling what the stick's position is. Therefore, I put in the extra bucks for a HOTAS Warthog. I have never been more satisfied with any other flight sim hardware product. Also, for the OP especially, the simhq on the HOTAS Warthog is really good, because it compares the physical apparence and accuracy of the HOTAS set and other sets. FYI, the HOTAS Warthog has the best sensitivity. Even if it is too expensive for you, that is the only controller I can advise you. It is extremely good! http://www.simhq.com/_technology3/technology_174a.html -
It's mainly because developers in the flight sim world aim towards developing products that are as realistic as can be. Many people aren't big fans of this, which is the reason why the flight sim community, or any simulator community, is significantly smaller than other communities. There are companies like EA, Activision and stuff, that are literally throwing money towards their developers and making really big developer groups to start developing on a tight schedule. Whereas ED, they are pretty much solo. They probably have a smaller team, and the products they are developing require more attention to detail. They don't have a unlimited budget, so it takes more time to create quality products. Developers in the flight sim world are more or less afraid of disappointing their costumers by saying "the product will be released on this date" or "it will be released by this time", because if they fail to do so, many people will hate on them and be like "why isn't it here yet?". Some developers have other jobs, so they don't only work on flight sims. I am incredibly happy with the work Eagle Dynamics has done, and as much as I would love to have a release date for all their products, I understand why they don't. It is simply very hard to predict when it will be done. All we can do is make estimations. My estimation for instance, is that EDGE will be (hopefully) released in the coming weeks. Looking at the recent updates Wags has given us, we can see that Wags said: That shows that Eagle Dynamics is on the edge (i know bad joke) or releasing EDGE. Hope I helped you out a bit.

It's a 3D model of a pilot. I think we've all seen that video and noticed that on the monitor haven't we?
-
No problem. I believe this thread also has some more information about their F-35:http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=108370 I haven't checked out their website in a while, but it seems to be down indeed. I do believe they're just relaunching, or maybe a new website. Kinney Interactive doesn't only develop aircraft for flight sim, but I believe their main business is refurbishing and creating flight simulators. I could be wrong.

The project is still on going. It is just not going to be released as soon as the kickstarter said.

I'm seeing many people getting exited about IXEG's new 737, saying it is going to be much better quality than PMDG aircraft. Is that really true? Cause in that case, I'm going from FSX to X-Plane, nevertheless, DCS still being my #1 sim BY FAR!

I am playing on 3 monitors, each 1920x1080, and I usually fly the A-10C. I get around 40FPS on highest settings. I've got pretty much everything maxed out. I haven't really noticed a performance decrease, but it could be possible, since I didn't check my fps in 1.2.5 or any of the previous versions since I got my new computer. I did notice that my 3 monitor setup worked much better in 1.2.6 than 1.2.5

Your hard drive should have nothing to do with how the game runs, only the loading speed is increased with faster hard drives. I have DCS installed on a separate SSD so it loads faster, but that's all it does. I don't know how to transfer the files however. I just re install and keep the custom mission files and save games when re installing DCS. If you want better frame rates, better processor and better graphics card is needed. I'm not sure what you're asking about the hard drives, but you might want to know that I installed LOMAC on a seperate drive from all my other DCS installations. I have my C drive, which is a 120gb SSD, a D drive which is a 1TB hard drive (the drive LOMAC is installed on) and a E drive which is a 40GB SSD (where I installed DCS on, including every single module released to date).

Trying to run DCS on a Mac that does not meet min specs
GodsPrototype replied to marked0ne's topic in General Questions
I'd say you wasted your money the moment you purchased that MacBook Pro. Apple's computers have become complete pieces of garbage. I say it is time to go for a good quality gaming laptop with Windows 7 or 8.1. Or if you don't need a laptop, go for a desktop PC. I say you need a separate graphics unit in your computer if you want to play DCS. Next to this, get at least 8gb of ram, preferably more for DCS, since it is a 64bit application. -
They did order it though. I've been living in the Netherlands for quite a few years now, and I know that there has been a lot of controversy about it here. Also in Canada there has been a lot of controversy about the F-35. But, just recently I heard that the Dutch air force decided to purchase the F-35. I can understand that the Dutch need an upgrade, because their F-16 have gone from around the 200 when they just received them, to only 70, which is very sad. The current state of the Dutch military is very sad, and I understand why they ordered the F-35 because, even though they are not fighting a war, they have a role in the EU and UN to have a good amount of forces available. Unfortunately, I heard that there are a lot of cuts being made in the Dutch military. Keep in mind that the Dutch health care system is much better than in the US. Sometimes I'm quite happy I'm living here, because I feel very safe in the Netherlands.

OMG IM SO EXITED! Thank you so much! Unfortunately, kickstarter doesn't accept paypal. I missed out on many things because of this :(. I am very clueless on these attachments to be honest, even though I have been following this thread for a long time. I have a few questions if you don't mind to answer them, hegykc. So if I'm correct you will be selling HOTAS sets for the F-15 and F/A-18, because these are the two I am very interested in. I want to know how easy it is to set up with my current HOTAS Warthog. 1. Is it as simple as detaching my current stick and replacing it with a new stick? How would that work with the throttle, because I have never done it before. Or would it be a completely new throttle set (I assume not because this would be quite expensive I assume) 2. What you're saying is that probably before February or during February of 2014, we will be able to purchase these sets from you worldwide. Will you accept paypal as a payment method and where will you sell these sets exactly? 3. Will the HOTAS sets be exact models of the F-15 and F/A-18, meaning that all buttons are there? 4. What is the build quality of these sets? From my understanding, 3D printers only print plastic, not metal, am I correct? So will these sets contain metal parts? And what about the buttons? I remember you mentioning something about that you ordered the buttons separately? 5. What were the pedals you were talking about earlier and something about the WWII kickstarter project. I currently have the Saitek Pro Flight pedals, which are ok, but what type of pedals are the ones you gave a link to? Is it something that models WWII aircraft? Or just for any type of simulation? And does it actually function? If you don't have the time to answer these, no pressure. Thank you so much for this project once again! I can't tell you enough how much we all appreciate your work. I haven't seen a lot of people on this thread, but I'm sure that once you start selling, people will be begging for these HOTAS sets! -
I believe the reason they delayed it this time is because they are developing it for the next gen platforms as well, so as they are developing GTA V for next gen consoles, I think they will be porting it with its additional features to PC. Still, I think it wont be a extremely crazy experience on the PC, because I think it's still a console port, unfortunately.

Are you serious? Last time I experienced this was with Google wallet. That is embarrassing that such big companies don't offer paypal.

How can I select the paypal option on kickstarter. I can only go through Amazon to pay with credit card, which I don't have. I paid using paypal to purchase all my flight sim stuff, including all DCS modules. So does anyone know where to go to pay with paypal on kickstarter so I can support the WWII kickstarter? I had the same issue with the F-35 by Kinney Interactive, but then I just gave up. Anyone? Thanks!

Even though I was young and I vaguely remember it, 9/11 affected me quite a bit. I hope I will be able to fly as a Military aviator in the future, and I will be more than happy to serve this great nation that I love so dearly and protect her people from any harm. RIP everyone who died and condolences to everyone who knew a victim of the attacks. Let us never forget those who died, let us forever remember who they are!

I'm writing a short personal commentary for school. I have to explain why I think a certain aerobatics group, basically the navy flight exhibition team (don't want to mention their name because I don't want my teacher to find this, probably won't) are artists. I think they are artists and what they create and do, aerobatics, is art. I just don't know how to explain it or put it into words and prove why I think this is an art. Can anyone give me a little help here? Thank you!

Well right now I hardly have any time at all, but that's probably because I'm doing IB at an International School. A lot of pressure, I have to admit. Grads from my school who are in Stanford said their first and second year were quite easy in comparison to 11th and 12th grade IB, so I might have more time. Who knows.
