Go to MULTIPLAYER = "Burning Skies" server. Fly 109 to kill targets to appreciate the better kill ratios and more ordnance availability to appreciate using the P-51. P-51 is the ONLY plane to use to kill ground "GV" (ground vehicles) targets as to its massive ordnance availability. Don't fly straight line leaving target area, use ailerons and rudder. Attacking I don't fly straight line, but alter altitude so enemy guns have to re-aim; also true if enemy is on your six. Most enemy guys just "spray and pray" from too far back if they have lots of ammo; use TacView" to observe what's going on. I would think in Mission Editor you can set the hardness effectiveness as to what the GV AI gunners are doing and how much ords it takes to eliminate a target. I know in "Burning Skies" server, the server moderator has made the targets harder to kill. I do pretty good as to end of the month scoreboard killing GVs with 109 with its only one big bomb and its limited ammo. I am going to do better with P-51!!

I usually fly 109 to target area in MP, usually "Burning Skies" , down low and fast at 550 kph at 25 revs on the dial. I leave radiator set to auto. My issue is evading enemy fighters, climbing out to higher altitude and eventually seizing the engine. I cannot fly leisurely when trying to out distance enemy fighters. And since I mostly kill ground targets, I am usually out of ammo when jumped. So how do you guys manage your 109's engine in this environment?

Just after tale off, my engine stop / crash

First sentence >>> set governor to manual; prop pitch to 11:30 o'clock . After take-off switch to auto governor, then gear up, then outer running lights off. -
Tail Coming up at ~70 km/h on Takeoff
DieHard replied to Frederf's topic in DCS: Bf 109 K-4 Kurfürst
Set prop governor to manual---prop pitch at 11:30 o'clock on the dial, take 500 Kg bomb, -2 elevator trim, no flaps, 65% fuel load, nice and easy with the throttle---no bursts >>> tail comes up nice and easy just under 200 kph . Don't need full throttle for take-off. On take-off roll I watch my front side windows with the runway sides being equal. Full right rudder at start of take-off, then play with rudder pedals as speed increases. In air at take-off: Immediately set prop governor to automatic, gear up, outer lights off, adjust elevator trim as necessary. Options / Special = Aileron Trim +2 ; Rudder Trim -20 ; Take-off Assistance 0 No bomb >>> I set elevator trim to zero That's how I do it. (Took me a long time to figure out my setup.) -+- Hitting ground targets? No problem Dogfighting? I still suck Landing? Getting better at it, still mess up once in awhile (190 is more difficult successfully landing) -

Good mess of links concerning CPU use. Thanks for the video link. -
Update patches sometimes reset stuff. Good idea to always check your options settings before entering a MP arena.

I agree. Flying in MP is a mixed bag of variables, anyway. The only way to play on an even playing field and no cheating or pseudo-cheating is rent out a big convention hall and compete with everybody have the same machine and setup and charge an admission fee.

Was hoping Pop would be coming over if and when we see the Hornet AND if Pop is still kicking... Ron "Pop" Folse is real life retired US Navy fighter pilot as Commander rank. http://vcw-8.com/ (Videos play on my Mozilla Firefox)

Used to be, real-life, guys trained on prop jobs first. Maybe that has changed. Learn to operate an aircraft in simple terms, then advance in stages. A-10C is a complicated aircraft for a beginner.
-
FW-190 is a good one. 2nd choice would be Bf-109. Both are finicky to learn and do well with. Then go from there. I started with the A-10C when it was a CD purchase locally, then transitioned to the Ka-50, BS1 I think.

My wife is a 1st class knitter, she could easily teach it and make some side money. She has been bugging me for years to show me how. If I ever get bed bound like hospital for any length of time or nursing home---maybe. I'd rather play poker with the guys... Sure could have fun with this thread topic.

Moving to Windows 10 - any tips or pitfalls?

I have Win 7 Pro on my PC tower. On the same machine, I want to upgrade it to Win 10 Pro. Do I need to deactivate my DCS modules before installing Windows 10? Is there much to worry about with the update? Should it be a smooth transition? How much added hard drive room should I need? Have i7-2600 (non-K) CPU and Geforce GTX 970 with 16GB RAM and 2 hybrid spinning disks in RAID and a SSD for DCS. Thanks

Considering buying Ka-50 but having concerns
DieHard replied to -Martin-'s topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
Go to 2.0 Alpha map, join the F99th server, look up F99th-Cooper. He is the best Ka-50 jock in the game; I met him on the 104th Phoenix group and the old S-77th Aussie server. Ask to fly with him. Most of the S-77th guys transitioned to the F99th. Once I learn the Mirage, I will, too. -+- Cooper has his own YouTube Channel by another username. I recently saw his movie of him hiding behind a high-rise building in his Ka-50. He fired 2 laser guided missiles and locked up a Mirage at low level and too slow and shot it down. The sweet spot is 6K ranging. Different film, different jet, SAME_TOPIC = -
Looking for Overclock Numbers for Asus Strix GTX 970
DieHard replied to DieHard's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
No problem with cooling! Buy a small apartment size refrigerator. Put the PC tower in the center, middle shelf and set the thermostat to zero F. Then replace door with a clear cutout to see inside the fridge with fan cutouts. Cheaper than rigging specialized CPU and GPU cooling systems. And room for snack break refreshments. Now, the refridge manufacturers are going to raise the prices on small fridges and Digital Storm will patent the idea...
