  1. Good Lord man! Just stumbled across this thread. I was perfectly happy with my solution to use the A-10C HOTAS and stick for my P-47 - now you have shattered that, must have!
  2. Yes, I was surprised. I have had the 2 or 3 trigger failure also. At least now we know it isn't the map. I punched WEP several times there at the end, and it worked fine up till about the 10 min mark. So valid point - Did I have another 5 mins? Was my usage of it only good for 10 mins or so? Should I have gotten a solid 15? Don't have those answers, but for 10+ mins, it worked fine either locked, or multiple presses. Unfortunately, no real insight.
  3. Well, latest OB, not a single one! The most reliable run of WEP I have had . . . running latest OB, over Syria, -30
  4. It doesn't??? I am with @Pikey on this one. She flies like a dream, but if you just jump in without trimming for torque etc. she is reactive to control inputs. Just asking for clarification, to make sure I understand your statement. Maybe my perception is based on the way I have set my curves, and I have all the flight/trim and engine management controls mapped to my A-10C TM Warthog HOTAS and Joystick - so my experience my not reflect others.
  5. Vfaco - You fly the P-47 with the throttle, in essence the throttle is the Boost (Turbocharger)/Throttle and Prop Pitch controls. Locking the Boost lever to the Throttle, and Pitch full forward is the simplest way to explain it. The R2800 generates a lot of torque, and will roll the airframe to the left with no trim to offset, it will also "walk the nose" of the aircraft if you change throttle positions suddenly, either by backing off of it, or firewalling (full forward) it. The torque will play havoc with hands-off flight. With all things set, Throttle/Pitch/Boost all full forward, you can fly hands off trim by adding in Rudder offset towards "T.O." or Take Off trim, a smidge of Starboard trim bias (Right wing down), and with those settings you can trim out the P-47 and fly hands off straight and level all day. Just remember, any throttle setting, that changes engine power output or torque, will mean you will need to trim out the tendency of the engine to roll the aircraft to the left. Once done, she will fly straight as an arrow. Also, reducing power, reduces the torque, so if you are trimmed to fly straight and level at full power, reducing power will cause the aircraft to veer, just be ready to trim as needed. Conversely, you can use throttle changes to modify flight trajectory, rolls, and even turns and gun runs to trim the nose in the direction you want. Comes in handy in a pinch during a dog fight. That is how I fly her hands off - experts may disown this, I am just a noob, but this is how I fly the P-47 for hands-off, and it works quite well. Trimming for hands-off is second nature to me now.
  6. Now I understand, thanks for the clarification. I will certainly try some repeated negative G maneuvers and see if it will stop functioning - similar to activating more than a couple times with WEP button.
  7. True, but only momentarily. Once you return to a neutral vector, or even with positive G's, function returns. Maybe that is what you meant, if so, apologies.
  8. I have experienced this, since WEP was introduced. On DM server, and with this latest OB. At first I thought it was me, researched etc. As near as I can tell, like this thread, it is intermittent even with no damage. As long as I engage, and lock, it will run for a good (approximately) 15 minutes. But if I engage it without lock, a couple of times of differing duration, it will cease to function after two uses. Any WEP button depress after two uses will yield nothing. This happens in SP (todays OB), and on the DM servers this last weekend.
  9. Great news, have plenty of beautiful WWII birds to keep busy until then, specifically the P-47D-XX on the DM servers!
  10. My weak, and poorly executed JTAC interaction, using Voice Attack. Still use menus, because I am bad, and forget flow. Still, managed to get it done with AI. The lords name is taken in vain, some cussing, not full on sailor in a brothel with a major fist fight, but you will hear some.
  11. Appreciate your insight and responses . . . but I am just a layman, so I will leave this to the experts. I am not the one that can weigh in on applicability, or feasibility. If these things are possible, wonderful! After all, I still get a smile when I strap on an airplane, and see the needles swing in response to my actions, a very happy consumer here.
  12. All my old A-10C I habits haunted me, I was flipping them off for startup. Good to know, I knew some startup sequences had changed, but failed to actually dig and discover.
  13. Even better, a good day to be wrong! Also, I love those factory fresh engine starts, nothing more harmonious than the R2800 firing cleanly every time.
  14. Yes, Nellis at 4:40 a.m. nothing but startup. But using Voice Attack this time. Working out those kinks and bugs. Still make some startup errors, but not referencing any material and going from memory. No F keys, no menus, all radio and voice driven.
  15. My stumbling, awkward view on this, as I think you are right . . . but . . . Awhile back, Nineline poked fun at me (taken in stride) as I tongue in cheek requested that the new X-Ray damage model be applied to buildings and trees!!! He sent me a GIF of a PC catching on fire, which is accurate. Engines, especially WWII engines, modeled to take into account ambient temperature, humidity, ambient temps of engine fluids and fuels, to do things like condensation of fuel in manifold intake runners, varying venturi performance based on temps, fuel density etc. Leaky piston rings, varying cylinder compression based on wear and tear. Cold crank reaction based on cold oil, and weak batteries etc. would pretty much cause the same thing . . . your PC to catch on fire. While I too enjoy (and have routinely witnessed cold engine starts of all kinds) watching old cranks struggle and spit and sputter, I have a feeling the fluid dynamics, and all the other computational modeling that would have to be generated in real time to replicate this, would require a server farm capable of running at teraflops. Just my layman's guess as to why it would probably be far too difficult to implement. But I also ask for the X-ray damage system to be applied to trees . . . so there is that to consider.
  16. 57 - However, will say I am heartened to see folks here in the 20 and 30's range, was worried that the hard core flight sim is going to fade. Game with my son often, do the Overwatch and Borderlands thing (huge fan of the Fallout series), but can't get him interested in DCS, hopefully in time.

    A-10c 2

Errrrhmmm. I hate to admit this. After reading the tutorials and FAQ's, many times. I finally stumbled here. I have been researching this for the last three days. Yes, I checked, and triple checked, read every post regarding no ATC feedback, borked my registration etc. Yes I read the part of the FAQ that reinstall is typically futile, but desperate times, call for desperate measures. Finally got it all back together, started at ground zero, and found this thread. A-10II here also. Have a Persian Gulf ME, cold start. changed Flight callsign to "Colt" - - - - Works perfectly. Can confirm, same issue as those before me have listed.
  18. You can Open/Forward ports by title or application on most firewalls, no need to be bound to an external IP. Even if your IP is NAT'd as long as you are defining ports to open (generically) on your firewall by application or via an internal LAN IP ( i.e., Internal LAN IP (server) >> ports opened >> any any IP) then the NAT will not affect you as long as you are doing this prior to the ISP's cable modem or box for your router attached prior to the Cable Modem or ISP box. I port forward services all the time without having to define a fixed external IP. Their currently is no shortage of IPv4 addresses, this was solved long ago with NAT/PAT. I currently peer several large edge/backbone routers on a corporate network with Dual Stacking (running IPv4 and IPv6 simultaneously) and even after 15 years of the "shortage" I have no Cloud vendors, or remote customers taking advantage of my IPV6 addresses . . . zero. ISP's via IANA and other RFC based agencies have been reclaiming IPv4 Addresses for years, the practice you mention stopped many many years ago, you now need to provide proof, and design considerations for any block of IPv4 addresses you would like to use.
  19. Windows 95 was a breeze compared to Windows NT 3.51, the precursor to NT 4.0 All kidding aside, I think you are trying to pull it all in. I broke it down by each SOI has its own dedicated switches, and actions. I would work on when HUD was SOI, what did China Hat, TMS, Coolie, slew, DMS do for it - master that, then move on to the next thing. For instance TGP SOI - then deal only with what China HAT, TMS, DMS, Coolie, Boat switch did for it. I didn't try to worry about (initially) the flow of information between MFD, HUD, TGP, TAD, HUD - just focused on functionality of each SOI, in its own space. After awhile, the flow between systems starts to fall into place. Master one SOI, like MAV all by itself, using slew and target designation in simple environments, then work on TGP, target designation, tracking, lasing. Then work in integration of MAV SOI, and then TGP SOI working together.
  20. Thank you! I know it isn't as exciting as gun runs, and combat, but I do really enjoy the process, and the environment of early morning starts. Relaxing.
  21. ***A-10CII*** Out of Al Minhad, full cold start, and a cruise out over Dubai, with the sun coming up. A nice relaxing sequence I always enjoy in the A-10C.
  22. Same issue. Anyone know A-10C literal/formal DCS module name so I can attempt download and update from CLI using DCS updater.exe??? P.S Found it, this method works, no crash: A-10C_2
  23. This post makes me all giggly and excited! This is also my place holder to come back and marvel at the time and dedication it took to learn and employ that tactic. When someone takes the time, to turn flight idiosyncrasies into an advantage, you know you are getting good info . . . especially when it mimics or closely mimics the real thing.
  24. Yay!!! Thank you! I missing my thundering hammering .50 cal music. pppppppppppppppppppffffffffffffffffffffffttttttttttt - is so . . . weak.
