  1. ME 262 was why I became an early backer, and kickstarter contributor. If the Hellcat had been offered then, I would still pick the ME 262. The ME 262 was a "desperation" measure, to try and stall the allied bombers for a bit longer. It was manufactured under blistering bombing campaigns, and still managed to be the only jet fighter of that era to see any appreciable combat, its peers notwithstanding technically or otherwise. Allied bombers, and fighters went up against this aircraft. Albert Speer actually increased production during the height of the Allied bombing, the ME 262 is coupled to that to try and buy more time. Yes the Hellcat and the Pacific are iconic in their own right, but WWII started as a kickstarter/go-fundme effort and was European centric. I get that Pacific is a big deal, and yes I would enjoy it, and the Hellcat. But outside of the P-38J (as a day one purchase), the ME 262 would fit into campaigns designed around last ditch efforts to thwart massive bombing campaigns, and dog fights with allied fighters. However, if the ME 262 was shelved, I would pick something that ED offered, and move on. Just hope that the ME 262 gets the kind of ED/TFC engineering treatment it deserves, and sees the light of day in the ED/TFC stable. FWIW.
  2. Errrrhmmm, I have a friend. Flew for the 160th SOAR, also commanded. Flew the Little Bird at the attack on Haditha Dam (2003?), flew night attack missions on highway 1 during the initial invasion of Afghanistan West of Kandahar after 9/11. They would load two Little Birds each with dollies attached to the landing sleds, into C-130s, fly to the FARP from Masrah( - spelling) in the middle of the night. Roll them out of the C-130s (two together as a flight team or element), and have them off the ramp, bolted up, armed up, and ready to fly in 5 mins. Reading one of his books now. I so want this module, and so want Iraq, and Afghanistan added to our "world", to recreate these missions, especially Haditha, where he flew in support of 75th Rangers and other elements sent to secure the Dam. He commanded that from a C-130 Gunship, at that time longest insertion flight of an airborne group in history. Once the FARP was setup at objective Rhino? (going from memory), he then flew in support of the attack on the Dam, and defense from Iragi regulars.
  3. Man, these comments. Mostly here just to revisit the drama. Not sure why, it is like jabbing yourself in the eyeball. Nonetheless, a few simple observations. 1.) Make it an "on/off" feature of Multiplayer for server admins if you want ultra realism and no one using it as an exploit. 2.) Make it user electable in SP. Those of us who enjoy PIO pain and struggle, can do so. Those who want easy mode for self made missions can do so. 3.) ED's own comments and actions promote inclusive design where capable, but without loss of realism and fidelity. They can/will do what is right for the community. Drama queen elitists invoking various "whataboutisms" because a guy is trying to look for options in a "wishlist" to help out older members are just trolling. Albeit in a high brow manner, but it is just trolling for drama, and the podium to thump from. Personally, I see no conflict in a user option or server admin MP option for this. Not sure why others do. ED will do, what ED will do, based not only on input, but internal research and knowledge. All of this, is just pages of chaff and blather. Personally, I hope ED can find a way to implement it, but leave it fully realized for us Sadomasochists that like PIO hell mastery.
  4. I have sir. It is very difficult, and then you rely on the good graces of friends, co-workers and volunteers to wade through your monstrosity and find all the punctuation, spelling and syntax errors. Even after all that, when they finally go to print, you still find mistakes. Wanna be tech writers waxing on about how they could do it better . . . is just mental masturbation, and a boring descent into another monologue about how it should be done. Fine, you have an idea how it should be done, make sure to line up and volunteer to read the damn thing 3 times over before I release it. Then you can critique it.
  5. Lo, the clouds parted and the sun shone brightly! Thank you so much. Once I knew what to look for (as I have only done full startup, taxi, landing lessons), I found the section in Chuck's Guide. Was already mapped to my TM HOTAS, the BHOT and WHOT thumb switch in MAV mode for the A-10C. Worked like a charm. It was forward, putting me in MSL OVERRIDE, and locking me out. Much appreciated!
  6. This is in air start. I select A-G, and the SMS page comes up, but no weapons displayed: Then if I select INV, I can see them, but selecting them with OSB yields nothing. I am stuck in a loop. no ability to power them on.
  7. On stations 3 & 7 - I was turning those on, as I am still learning and didn't understand the relationship.
  8. So sorry to do this to y'all. I have googled it, I have watched the vids. I went through Chuck's guides. HARMS on station. ME mission I created, flying toward a Fan Song site. I start in HSD (right MFD). Power on pylons left/right (for some reason not on in air start ME). Hit AG mode from ICP, make sure Master ARM is on. Wanting to go HARM HAS mode. I end up at SMS page, no HARMS listed. nada. If I go into inventory, they are there, but I cannot select them from the OSB's relevant to them. WPN page shows OFF. I cannot turn them on. I have removed all weapons from all stations except the two HARMS to try and trouble shoot. I know it is something simple, but I have literally spent 3 hours on this collectively. I even watched WAGs video on HARM in HAS. Appreciate any help, no matter how dumb I will feel afterwards.
  9. I have noticed this behavior as well. Mostly in the A-10C/II, but I always assumed it was because it was offset from Center-line. I am now learning the F-16C and have the exact same issue. Running TM Rudder pedals (T Series), and setup as shown in your last pic. I just assumed it was normal behavior, and I would pump the brakes left/right alternately as needed to keep the aircraft straight.

  11. Damage model, is it nearing "completion" in WWII modules? Once completed in WWII modules, will the focus be to bring it to modern modules? If so, is there a module in particular that this effort will start with, like the P-47 and Anton in War Birds?
  12. So in actuality . . . they are way ahead of all other sims, and spot on!!!
  13. Thanks all, I am focusing on the F-16. I have gone through the startup, taxi, landing etc. Wag's training videos, and there is a lot I am used to. Some things not so much, like the startup seems bizarre to me! WAT! No APU . . . sacrilege!! Plus bringing INS and nav systems online is much easier in the F-16. However, doing a shallow dive, hitting 900, and pulling vertical and going from 2000 MSL to 30K feet in full afterburner in less than 30 seconds is, intoxicating, as a hawg mainline driver.
  14. I understand how it is to look at someone's profile and make that observation. However, in my case I show Jan 2013 - but I was flying Steam with the KA-50 since 2011. I didn't join these forums till 2013. No big deal - but forum profile dates can be a bit sketchy.
  15. When the pilot doesn't disengage from a bad APKWS missile run, and tries to go for the glory gun kill. Warning "S" word and "GD" words. About 13 mins in is when the landing fun begins. Enjoy!
  16. Thank you Graf! You have shared a lot of knowledge about this warbird, and I appreciate all your input on various topics.
  17. Schwarzfeld, Thank you so much for this. The diagram you sourced is the best one I have seen to date, and I have researched this "exhaustively", pun intended! Your explanation is one of the better ones I have seen, and parallels what I have learned from other sources. Hopefully I can return the favor, here is the pressure switch (regulator) that achieves this function. A combination of hydraulic, boost lever, and evacuated bellows working together. One question if I may. A few sources indicate the Supercharger (Blower) is two stage, yet I can find no detail on gearing changes, or other mechanisms to change the ratio of the blower drive. Do you have any insight as to whether it is only a geared coupling with no ratio (gearing) changes and is only single stage? If it is two stage, do you know how the gearing ratio's were changed? Thanks for your write up, very informative!
  18. All, Thank you very much for your input. I really appreciate this. Based on the MFD and stick commonality, I am going to focus on the F-16, understanding it is not feature complete, but I am an original Kickstarter for DCS Warbirds so patience is one of my strong suits! Also, as I notch up on the F-16, will branch over into the F-18 more than likely anyway. Thanks for your time, detail, and suggestions.
  19. I am an A-10C and II guy. My main module and experience. All modes pretty competent. Weapons employment, usage of TGP, CDU, waypoint modification, weapons profile tweaking, radio setup, working with JTAC etc. Full TM HOTAS system, pedals, and I enjoy using JTAC too in single player. I have even suffered through AAR - but so far PIO is my nemesis. But, I want to branch out. Use my A-10CII knowledge to "ramp up" in another module. Main interest, something that has decent ground attack but mainly reach to deal with long range REDFOR Anti Aircraft missile systems. I have the Harrier (lots of love lately), the F/A-18 Hornet, and the F-16. I haven't really flown any of these modules to any degree except the F/A-18 and probably only 3 hours in it. Which of those three would allow me to feel at home so to speak, and use my A-10 knowledge overlap to get up to speed fairly quickly from the communities perspective? Not worried about BFM and BVR engagements (that can come later) more focused on ranged/weaponry to deal with REDFOR AA missile systems, and shipping as a nice second. I have a lot of pent up anger as a Hawg driver in regards to REDFOR missile systems, anything "SA" needs some payback - time for me to branch out! Thanks in advance.
  20. I have even popped some fasties with my AIMs. We are kinda like snapping turtles. Slow, and easy to get around, but get too close and BAM, jaws of steel clamp on and don't let go! Very True @Pikey

  22. Nine, A before and after snapshot. Included a frame grab of my graphics settings. A-10CII test runs. Syria. Also, autoexec.cfg is set for true to disable hotplug per other threads. Latest OB as of this date. Running latest NVIDA driver for 460.89 for "Creator" - but I have also experienced this with 461 on this Beta version. The graphics settings are my "middle range" that I run for Syria. I run higher, almost everything on max, for maps like Caucasus, NTTR. The Channel I get some stutter, as well as Normandy with higher settings. Persian Gulf almost none, for any settings. Syria is a stutter fest - but only after I have had a few runs without deleting the FXO and metashaders2 folder. This is a run (current log file) after a real mess of a run with old log file included. The difference is night and day. I do the same test, and same sequence of events to reproduce. Load Syria A-G mission (stock in game, and selected from Mission) I fly to Aleppo, and do a city low level run around the ruins. I have modified this mission for personal use. The only change is time of day, dust, and clouds. This flight, after deleting folders, very smooth, only a few stutters, much much easier play and enjoyable. Old backup file is from my last attempt doing the same thing before emptying folders. Unplayble. Frame rate is the same in both instances, I never drop below 39 FPS even doing street level in Aleppo - but the stutter is atrocious before emptying the folders. Similar affect, but not as pronounced on The Channel and Normandy. NTTR and Persian Gulf not as much. Caucasus better than most maps, under any circumstances, but will get some stutter over time between folder deletes. Also, when stutter is bad, flipping up mirrors will give me about 5 FPS, and putting the TGP in standby will give me a solid 10 FPS increase; however, this still doesn't reduce stutter when it is at its worst. Hope this helps. dcs.log dcs.log.old
  23. Thanks for all this! I will say one thing about the P-51 with "ground loop" on take off (if that is what you mean). I discussed this effect with my wife's Uncle who works for the FAA, and also a crash site reconstruction expert. He rebuilds Luscombe's as a hobby. He recounted what he knew, from a friend that flew the P-51 in WWII (This was several years ago, when the P-51 first released), and he told me how to set the rudder trim, and other surfaces for take off. From that day forward, I never "ground looped" into the dirt again. Not saying that the effect wasn't too exaggerated on release, but I always found it fascinating I could describe the aircraft behavior, and a pilot, that knew a pilot who had heard of how he dealt with it in real life, and viola!! It worked for me. After that, I found new respect for our friends at ED and DCS, may not have been on the mark, but it was close enough that word of mouth allowed me to fly it and not flip right into the dirt on take off.
  24. Similar to what I have done before with the stock Caucasus DCS mission, slightly modified, time and weather. Plus no in game menus - all Voice Attack Driven. Tutorial? No intended to be one, but you can get a feel for the ebb and flow of Waypoint creation, and interaction with JTAC. I do miss a couple of cues, as noted in the video.
  25. Black Shark 2, A10C, A10CII, F-16, F/A-18, F-86, Mig-15, Mig-21, P-51, F-15, Su-27, Su-33, Mig-29, FW-190 Dora, Anton, BF 109, Normandy, Caucasus, NTTR, Persian Gulf, Channel, Syria, WWII Assets, CA. (WWII backer picked aircraft ME-262, P-47D).
