Actually, at least for manually controlled planes, there is a centering force caused by the airflow over the control surfaces. I believe the su27 recreates these forces artificially to give a feeling of control to the pilot.
-
Rikus: My suggestion would be to use a curve of 15 for the pitch axis and neutral for roll axis.
-
The Flanker is known for the incredible AoA it can pull. The way i see it... It probably wouldnt be able to do so if it was just another standard layout plane. To be able to pull these crazy AoA, it has to be drastically different to the other fighters and what people are complaining about are just the unfortunate downsides of having such a different layout.

I guess it depends on wind pressure

I use a Thrustmaster Warthog and dont have any axis curve. The Su-27 flies just fine with linear axis mapping, you just have to practice a bit, you'll get the hang of it.
-
Really? Even with the basic flight model and non-6dof cockpit? I think the Su-27 is just a pure joy to fly. You just have to be careful at low speeds, she will bite back! Like someone said on the 104th server: The Su-27 sacrifices safety for maneuverability. I think that accurately describes it.

Thanks guys, apparently i was mistaken all this time. I even learned something new (about the targets farther then the set range stacking at the top of the hud.) This will surely make me enjoy the Flanker even more!
-
That, I know. It might just be as Ironhand wrote, though. I was always under the impression that in order to see a target high or lower then you, you had to match the hud view mark to the elevation scale. Like I said, I will conduct some tests in the mission editor this evening.
-
5 was just as an example, i dont ever recall using 5 clicks. What i wanted to know is if there was a better way to scan high targets when flying low. 2 clicks up is apparently not visible on the hud anymore according to the hud view tick marks. I guess more testing in the mission builder is in order.
-
While we're on the subject, can anyone tell me why exactly the Sukhoi engeneers decided that we needed the hud pointed in the same direction as the radar in order to see the radar's targets? Example, if I have the radar pointed 5 clicks up, i need to point my nose up just in order to see if there are any targets there. Why couldnt the hud always show what the radar saw regardless of the antenna elevation setting?
-
Yesterday i was flying the Sukhoi in MP. Stayling as low as possible to avoid radars. I later decided to climb above the clouds but just as i got over the cloud layer, the low speed caused the plane to depart. At first the nose pitched up uncontrollably and then pitched down and back up again etc... Even when pitched down and gaining speed it would pitch up uncontrollably again. I took all sorts of different maneuvers with ACS off in order to regain control several minutes later. I wish it happened in SP so i could've saved the track. Does this sound like normal behavior for the Flanker?

Thrustmaster HOTAS Warthog Serial# Database
IonicRipper replied to 159th_Viper's topic in Thrustmaster
I dont think the stick has a specific serial number... Not as proudly displayed as the Throttle at least. -
Im at work right now so i would be very thankful if anyone could confirm something for me: Is it possible to have some sort of direction controls for the radio in the sim? A way to scroll through radio commands with a hat switch for example. Perhaps its already in the game or maybe there is a mod for this? This would be very useful to use radio commands without having to take your hands off the HOTAS.

Scan Zone Keyboard Commands Not Repeating
IonicRipper replied to P5138's topic in Su-27 for DCS World
I've setup my controls from within the game as well and can confirm I have the same problem as the OP. -
Scan Zone Keyboard Commands Not Repeating
IonicRipper replied to P5138's topic in Su-27 for DCS World
Same problem here. Did you figure it out, P5138? -
I agree that using a shift button might work ( I will experiment with that), but if it was already implemented in-game, it would be better IMO.
-
I like to use one of the hat switches on my joystick to sort of simulate the mode selector switch on the real Flanker stick. The only problem with that is there are several combat modes but only 4 positions on my hat switch and every other switch and button are already assigned so I'm stuck with only 2 or 3 combat modes. Everything would be so much simpler if it was possible to scroll through the BVR and close combat modes with every press of a button the same way you can scroll through nav modes with every press of the number 1. Its probably possible to do with the TARGET software but it would be best if it was already in game. Instead of having a different button for every mode, we could have une button for nav, one button to scroll through BVR modes (scan, TWS and flood for example) and one button to scroll through close combat modes. Anyone else like this idea? And while were at it, does anyone know how they use the different combat modes in the real Flanker?

F-14A/B DEVELOPMENT UPDATE #1 – 21/03/2015
IonicRipper replied to Cobra847's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
Preorder is a given, of course. Without any hesitation, the second it is announced, the CC will be out! -
DCS: F-14A/A+/B by Heatblur Simulations coming to DCS World!
IonicRipper replied to Cobra847's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
Oh really? Im not that knowledgeable in Navy planes, TBH. I thought Tomcat pilots transitioned to regular Hornets before going to the Super Hornet. My bad. -
DCS: F-14A/A+/B by Heatblur Simulations coming to DCS World!
IonicRipper replied to Cobra847's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
Hope this is released before ED's Hornet so we could all experience the same transition Navy pilots did. :) -
Not that I'm aware of. Best thing I think would be to take note of the wind direction in the CDU and attack into the wind if possible. Shame there isnt a switch to center the hud like in the F-16.

DCS: F-14A/A+/B by Heatblur Simulations coming to DCS World!
IonicRipper replied to Cobra847's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
Actually, Top Gun wasnt so bad if you skipped the non-flying scenes. -
While were on the topic of HOTAS. Does anyone know how the maneuvering flaps switch on the stick work? I think ive seen that the switch has 2 functions? Maneuvering flaps and Direct lift control?

DCS: F-14A/A+/B by Heatblur Simulations coming to DCS World!
IonicRipper replied to Cobra847's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
A bit off topic but can anyone tell me if the RIO was also in charge of firing the missiles? Or if the final decision was up to the pilot to make? -
Anyone got an idea on the max range for AGM-65H/Ks in force correlate?
