Why did they removed the refueling probes?
-
I think it depends on what other sticks you've used. Its good compared to the x52 but its bad compared to the Warthog. I would say if you can find it on special, its worth it.

This is amazing work! I wonder if it can be done for the A-10 with ground targets... -

Either way it goes (Corsair or Tomcat) I'd be happy :) -
Thanks guys, repair did it. Wierd s**t though, the repair program had to download over a gig of files! No idea why.

Yep, just tried activating and said its already activated. Will try the repair.

I've had to reinstall DCS World recently and I just installed the MiG-21 module but something strange is happening: I cant see the MiG-21 anywhere in the ME plane selection. I tried reinstalling the module to no avail. The plane is just not there (not even as AI.) What could I be doing wrong?

Thanks, cichlidfan. Unfortunately I still havent found how to do it with FC3 planes yet.
-
I can live with that. How?

Is there a way to use all 3 boat switch positions in DCS without TARGET when making a new profile? As it is now, the game only records 2 positions (forward and aft)
-
Awesome, thanks guys!

Anyone know how the RWR detects missile launches? For example, I get missile warnings for friendly AGMs and even IR SAMs. How does it know?

Heres what i came up with. Works pretty well so far.

I just got a TM Warthog and im looking for ideas to setup my new joystick. I want to keep it as simple as possible. The important thing for me is to have the stick and throttle positioned as close as possible to the real thing. Im still debating between mounting them to my chair or my desk. Any suggestions?

X-55 Rhino Hotas Issues and Problems
IonicRipper replied to Raven434th's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Here is my experiance with the X-55. I pre ordered the X-55 Rhino and when I finally got it, the stick wouldn't work, had to send it back for a replacement... Good start. Ergonomics: The ergonomics could've been better. The weapon pickle and trim switch are very difficult to reach without shifting your hand up. It was to a point where i decided not to use the top hat switch for trimming for any other plane then the A-10 and F-16 in BMS. No ergonomic problems with the throttle. Accuracy: The 2nd stick I got came out of the box with center slop and that slop was recorded by the hall sensor which had to be compensated with deadzone in either Saitek's HUD software or in-game which brings me to my 3rd point... Reliability: Sometimes the center of the stick would shift and I had to recalibrate the device to keep the slop within the deadzone i set. I never found out what caused the center to shift, though. One of the throttle's endpoint also shifted at some point which meant both throttles warn't at the same position in-game when they actually were physically. I had to open the throttle base and move the sensor back in the correct position to fix this. Durability: Its plastic (obviously not as durable as metal) which makes me doubt its longtime durability over time and use. Although I must admit I never had any durability issues in the (just under a) year I owned it. Functionality: The throttle slider is actually just a button (not a 2-way button, just 1 button) and without the HUD software, its basically useless. The mouse nipple also doesn't work without the HUD software which is a shame. I would rather if it was an axis instead. The mode buttons are practical to use as a 3-way switch but if you load a profile with Saitek's profiler, you lose that ability which i thought was a shame. Software: Saitek's HUD software worked fine for what it was meant to do but I encountered a lot of bugs with it, unfortunately. They also removed the option to load a certain profile by default. With all things said, though, the stick and throttle looked really nice and it may have been plastic, it was a very nice rubber-like plastic and felt good. The stick works fine with tons of buttons but unfortunately, MadCatz owned Saitek's build quality dropped the ball on what could've been a very good device. They should've spent more time testing out the ergonomics as well. I decided to sell it for a TM Warthog after all. -
Thanks for the info guys, finally pulled the trigger and ordered it!

Do they all have that wiggle? I have it with my x55 and i too find it annoying
-
One more thing: From the videos ive seen, it seems the slew control is a bit like the mouse stick on my x55. Only thing is my mouse stick doesnt work in dcs without sst because its not an axis. Is the slew control on the warthog an axis?
-
Awesome, thanks guys!

I'm thinking about finally pulling the trigger on one of those after all these years of drooling at them but I have a few questions first. 1: Do you need to use the TARGET (i think is it) software to use every functionality in the DCS A-10C? 2: Can you turn on/off the engines by pushing the quadrant's throttle past the idle detent (just like the real one)? 3: I've heard about people having issues with stiction with these. Was it a wide spread issue? If so, how bad is it and is there any fix for it? 4: Not really important but I noticed the actual friction control is set else where then the real plane (the friction lever being a normal axis.) Any one know why TM did it like this? How difficult could it have been to use the real friction lever?

Has anyone ever tried altering the springs for the brakes on the Pro Flight Rudder pedals? They offer no resistance so modulating the brakes is nearly impossible. We need a better feel for the brakes and simply stiffer springs would do. Any thoughts?
