I appreciate that these servers exist, but I do not find them compelling enough to log on more than once a month. On Burning Skies, especially, the mission seems to intentionally spread out the players with three separate target areas.

I would prefer to see an F-16 from ED before a third party dev. No chances with the Viper, please.

The first reason for introducing new and improved fighters in WW2 was to help mediocre pilots shoot down good pilots. With enough performance edge you can neutralize the skill gap. It's the pilot not the plane is something virtual pilots say when they're in the better plane. We have no evidence that the players flying the 109 are more skilled other than the fact that they shoot down more of their enemies, and their victories beg the question as to whether it is their skill or the aircraft's abilities that makes the difference. Without additional evidence/argument, it is a good premise that pilot skill is randomly distributed across the 4 WW2 fighters.

I agree with that. Are those users the same as the early adopters though? I probably phrased my question poorly. For the sake of market share I would have expected the 6 and 4 core versions to be available sooner.

I see the 8-core is up for preorder on newegg. $330 for the 1700, and $400 for the 1700x. I still do not understand why AMD is pushing these 8 core CPUs so hard when the benefit for most users ends at 4 cores.

Make sure you use the flat terrain shadows and the 1070 will run 4k very well. I can fly through the Las Vegas Strip with 60fps, but in the Caucasus fps dips sometimes over large cities. Another thing, turn off anti-aliasing. You do not need it with 4k! And for the price they are too small, imo. I use a 40" Samsung TV in 3840x2160 for DCS and I couldn't go back to a smaller display.

I suspect it has the same problem as the Fw 190: absence of refraction through the armored canopy.

The stats are relevant. If it were a tighter race between the competitors we could talk about sample size, but it's not even close. One caveat is that the stats only reflect the overall quality of these fighters on the Burning Skies map. It is possible we'd get a different result with a different mission design.

Staying below your enemy has a couple downsides anyone should be aware of: It reduces the range of the s530. It exposes you to IR sams (rarely seen in multiplayer) It reduces the chance of successful egress if something goes unexpectedly wrong. There are times to be below your target with the s530, and there are times to stay higher.

The ffb is not strong enough to prevent you from moving your joystick, but of course in-game movement is limited at high speed. I enjoy the Spit with the msffb2. It is a good buy.

Still have it. The bug is more than a year old. I reported it again on the bug tracking site about a month ago when I didn't see any mention of it there.

You can do what you want, but keep in mind that none of us can give you accurate feedback until we test the sounds in-game. 5tuka made a lot of adjustments to his Bf 109K-4 after community testing, and his sounds integrate into DCS better than the other sound mods I have tried. https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=153398&highlight=Bf+109K-4 Some past DCS sound packs have been great on youtube but a disappointment after download.

The 1070 turned my 5 year old PC into a new machine. I was going to upgrade my mb and cpu, but now there is no point.

I have a surface tablet computer with windows 10, and I've never seen an app that I would want on my PC that runs DCS. There is a snowball's chance in hell that DCS will upgrade to DX12 in the near future, but if it does, I'll upgrade to windows 10. As for the sound issue, other games will automatically install the drivers you need to get sound working again. I think it was after I reinstalled Cliffs of Dover on steam that sound worked for me again in DCS after an OS reinstall.

Goodness, when you work full time and have kids there is no way to keep up with these little changes. I'll look for the new control, thanks.

The BR light doesn't turn on anymore with the latest patch, both in the 1.5.x and 2.x threads. What changed?

In the controllers menu, select "axis commands" from the drop down menu. Scroll down until you see your x-axis or y-axis control. Highlight the x-axis or y-axis control, it doesn't matter which one. Select ffb tune, and check the box that says "swap axis."

The radar will not warm up when I use this campaign. I also get the bug where flares/chaff will not dispense. The GCI is pretty worthless, and without radar this campaign will have to wait for the bugs to get fixed. Have you considered using the EWRS script for this campaign? I'll try again in a few months.
