1. Bug is still here in 2.0.5. The R-60(M) will not get tone on AI aircraft. You can fly right behind them and put the pipper directly only their tailpipe, and nothing... Mig-21 still in the hangar...:(
2. Good luck with that. Flight sim accessories worth having disappeared from brick and mortar stores about 10 years ago. I think it was in 2007 that I bought the last set of CH pedals from Fry's in Concord before they stopped carrying them for good. Like he said, just order online and have it shipped to your hotel.
3. Seriously? I've wanted to use this feature for months. Thank you DavidRed.
4. New roll inertia is better, but I still can't fly the Mig-21 in DCS. 50% of the time the IR missiles can't lock-on to anything. 25% of the time flares/chaff will not dispense. 50% of the time the radar will not warm up and power on in NTTR. But yeah, she rolls nice now.
5. Is this the same bug in 2.x where the radar never warms up as it should?
6. This bug is still here. Are we one the same 2.x build still? It's there in 1.5.x too. Frustrating to no end, especially since MBOT has a new campaign for the fishbed. The radar also does not warm up and turn on as it should in NTTR.:badmood:
7. DCS runs fine with an AMD card. I recently upgraded to a 1070, but even with my old R9 280 I was at 60fps mostly with 1920x1080.
8. It seems so strange that 5 year old CPUs are still competitive. That would not have been the case 5 years ago. I should have upgraded my gpu (and ram) a year ago instead of saving for a completely new build. I'm skeptical that I would see much improvement for DCS. Thank you for the discussion.
9. Money was burning a hole in my pocked and I upgraded my gpu only to see the effect. The 1070 runs DCS in 4k at 60fps most of the time, but does drop a bit over dense cities, especially Las Vegas. Over all the difference is breath-taking! I'm going to do some more tinkering and consider my next purchases carefully. This 2500k ages very well, and I have to compare a new mb/cpu purchase to a paltry $50 for 8gb of additional ram.
10. Nice, but also painful to watch someone else have fun with the map while I wait.;)
11. Wow, thank you!
12. I've flown about 3 multiplayer sessions in the last month. During each one I was a team-killed. The worst thing about multiplayer is the other people.
13. You can even hit the clutter-generated Joshua trees that dot the landscape in some places.
14. I hadn't even considered an AMD cpu because of the trends over the last 10 years. After reading your post, I will wait to see what independent reviewers have to say. At the very least you are probably right that prices for intel will drop a bit.
15. Very interesting, thanks. Did Prien say specifically that the K series production/delivery numbers are in error, or was that more of a general statement?
16. Thanks for the advice. I could just add more ram and a higher end gpu, but then I'm pushing 5 years on this build. Whatever I decide, I'll stick to the 8gb 1070 as a minimum for the gpu.
17. I've saved up cash for a new system and I've been pondering how to get the most for my money with DCS. What I've noticed with DCS right now is that I am definitely limited by my gpu and not my cpu. This is easy enough to detect when I try different resolutions and texture settings. I would like to run DCS in 4k. Disregarding other components, suppose my budget is a decision between an i7 with a gtx1060 (6gb vram), or an i5 with a gtx1070 (8gb vram). In the past I thought I would definitely go with the i7 for my next build, but now I am not sure it would be the best choice. I've been reading the forums and trying to do my research, but it would be nice to hear some opinions that are specific to my case. Thank you.
18. I'm confused? Is that more credible than a historian's published research? Sincere question, not an attack. You might have a good reason for preferring that source.
19. Prien and Rodeike write that 534 were delivered by the end of November 1944, and at least 1200 more were constructed before the end of the war. Here are the production numbers for some Merlin-powered Spitfire marks (wikipedia)
Mark Built by Numbers Built Notes F VII, H.F VII Supermarine 140 First Mk VII September 1942 F VIII, L.F VIII Supermarine 1,658 First Mk VIII 11 November 1942 F IX, H.F IX, L.F IX Supermarine, Castle Bromwich 5,656 First Mk IX BR581 June 1942 PR X Supermarine 16 First Mk X May 1944 PR XI Supermarine 471 First Mk XI November 1942 XVI Castle Bromwich 1,054 First Mk XVI October 1944
So far less 109Ks than Spit IXs, but K-series production looks comparable to the Mk VIII series.:)
20. +1 I'm really missing this mod. It should be an official option in the settings menu.
21. :fear: Well, I think we should positive rep you because that does seem a bit harsh.:sorcerer:
22. Visibility in both Yaks is superb, but in the Yak-3 it is even better because there is no additional framing underneath the canopy bow. Yak-9 Yak-3
23. The shells will drop at the same rate, but they will go farther while they drop.;)
24. 190D-9. It has simplified engine management and widetrack landing gear. When you decide to shoot something it has a boatload of 20mm ammunition in case you miss! It's not a good choice for furballing, but if you keep your speed up and use its climb rate and superb roll rate, you are more or less untouchable.
25. Right, thankyou! @silverdragon, What 3rd parties do doesn't count, and the Spit IX was definitely in service through 1944-45.
