  1. Interesting that you guys are having similar issues with the 1080 Ti. Maybe it is in fact a driver issue and that the 1080 Ti hasn't been adequately optimized for VR / Rift or DCS? I'm still not getting any better performance than with the 980 Ti and much more inconsistency in frames. Setting power options to "prefer best performance" had the most effect. EDIT: Have you guys also upgraded to the Windows 10 Creators Update? Seems others are also having stuttering and framerate issues with the 1080 Ti
  2. I've just received the jetseat and I'm testing out the use in combination with sound mode. The problem ist, sound mode gives me no output whatsoever when testing, no matter what sound device I use. What am I doing wrong?
  3. Probably about a 0.1% percent chance of happening. But I'm all for miracles!
  4. Ok, I seem to have improved performance significantly, namely the GPU clock speeds, by setting the Power Management in the nVidia control panel to "prefer performance". Now the GPU consistently boosts to the maximum clock speed. It should have been glaringly obvious I guess. Performance could still be better and I'm not sure if it's all that much better than with my 980 ti previously, but it's playable as before now. It's a shame that mirrors have such an impact. Any more tips for reducing stuttering are much appreciated.
  5. Yep, used DDU as I said
  6. Im certainly sure about my specs, but I'm not sure if it's healthy or not. But yes, a CPU bottleneck did come to mind... With those specs it shouldn't be there though, should it? How would I best find out? I cleaned my graphics drivers with DDU and reinstalled the latest drivers. I also repaired DCS, though I think there was nothing to repair. I'm running no mods. I think it helped a little with performance and DCS 1.5 now seems to be more willing, but only selectively, to use all of the headroom the GPU will allow. Quite often it will go back to 1544 MHz. Monitoring the framerates, I frequently get drops to 25-30 and occasional peaks at 90 fps in 1.5, which I think is a big cause of the stuttering. 2.0 has 45 fps (ASW) stable over the middle of Vegas and looks butter smooth. How is it that 2.0 does not have this problem, if it's a hardware issue?
  7. Thanks for your replies . I have the newest nVidia drivers and no amount of graphics tweaking completely got rid of the problem. But I think I have found the problem, I just don't know how to fix it. DCS 1.5 is clearly underutilizing the GPU. Looking at Afterburner, the clock speed never goes over 1544 MHz and 30% usage even though the game could use significantly more horsepower. DCS 2.0 is utlizing the full potential of the card and maxes out at 1924 MHz and over 60% usage. It seems DCS 1.5 is not activating boost, but I don't understand why.
  8. I'm a little frustrated at the moment that 1.5 isn't working very well in VR with my new 1080 Ti. I got better performance with a 980 Ti. I get constant stuttering and frequent short blackouts showing the hourglass symbol. I've completely reinstalled Windows 10 and DCS and still the problem persists. Performance in 2.0 is the best it has ever been, and everything looks very smooth and fluid even when flying over downtown Las Vegas. Might this just be a problem of current drivers and the current build?
  9. Hell yeah, finally. I remember requesting this feature in the wishlist a few years back.
  10. The second cursor is there to interact with UI elements such as menu, chat and radio. Not sure why they're separate.
  11. That sounds great Alpenwolf. Your work is very much appreciated!
  12. I also think it would be difficult to go back. DCS is firmly a VR title for me now. Yes, it was a bit of getting used to, going from the crystal clarity of a 4k monitor to the comparatively blurry Rift, but actually being immersed in a cockpit and seeing in three dimensions more than makes up for it. I've honestly not noticed any limitations. I actually think I have better situational awareness and have noticed no disadvantages in multiplayer.
  13. I can confirm what SeaW0lf is saying. It's not really the dots in the distance that are so much of a problem. I don't have much of a problem spotting these. It's when the dot changes to the 3D model, where planes often magically disappear against the background. Oftentimes against a clear sky.
  14. I enthusiastically bought and tried Voice Attack with VAICOM yesterday, but to my dismay the speech recognition doesn't like the way I talk. Almost everything I say is misinterpreted. I've run the trainer in Windows several times. I'm using the built-in microphone on the Oculus Rift. I'm a native English speaker, and I'm talking as clearly as I possibly can. Does anyone have any advice?
  15. I think that's the screen door effect. You're seeing the spaces in between pixels.
  16. I'm using the Rift microphone and I speak Australian English. I've also tried imitating English or American accents but it doesn't change a thing.
  17. I'm trying voice commands but Voice Attack can't understand me no matter how clearly I speak. I've run the windows training tool multiple times and it's driving me nuts.
  18. Thanks, I'll definitely check it out. I was wondering though, if you can talk like you're making actual radio calls, and the system then equates this to the DCS radio commands.
  19. No, there aren't any pre-defined VR settings in terms of controls. Even people who don't use VR map all essential controls to their HOTAS. Like I said, that's the whole purpose of a Hands On Throttle And Stick (HOTAS). Most of us aren't professional pilots. You need to find out how to fly the aircraft and use the systems first. Then you will know what you need to map. That being said, I'm sure there are multiple X52 profiles for every aircraft out there. But you need to learn them too. It's a great feature of DCS that almost all buttons and switches are clickable and work like in the real aircraft. You will probably get away with mapping all necessary in-flight switches to your X52. Even then, I and many others use the mouse in flight for the cockpit switches. Often you'll be trimmed and level, on autopilot, or you can just hold the stick steady with the left hand. It's not such an issue. Never say never. The beauty about DCS is that you CAN learn how to fly a simulated real aircraft, if you just put the time and effort into it. If that's too daunting right now, stick to the FC3 aircraft and the free Su-25t. No clickable cockpits, and you can definitely stick to the HOTAS only, with commands being similar across all aircraft.
  20. I've always wanted to do this. Could you point me to the software? How realistic is it? Wouldn't you have to say things such as F-12, F-5, F-1...
  21. Yes, this is indeed one of the drawbacks of VR. I see no solution to this. It's just hard to take notes when you're practically blind.
  22. This was one of my primary concerns before I got a VR headset. Yes, of course it's not easy to use the keyboard. I'm able to use the most important commands by looking through the small nose gap. The fact is though, that I hardly need the keyboard. Yes, of course you should set as many commands as you can on your HOTAS. Those commands that you need of course. Don't bother with the ones you don't need. That's what it's there for. With an X52 you should have no shortage of buttons. If the buttons on your stick don't work you seem to have some sort of a hardware issue. All other cockpit commands I use the mouse for. That's the benefit of a fully clickable cockpit. In the end not seeing the keyboard is hardly an issue und is only needed for the UI. Esc, external views, etc. The experience in VR is so good, there is no way I'm going back to a screen for DCS.
  23. Don't worry, a little glare / halo / ray effect is normal.
  24. I just ordered an MSI 1080 ti Gaming X. Looking forward to it!
