  1. There will probably an ongoing 2.5 beta once 2.5 is released, so it's pretty much the same situation. :)
  2. I actually bought BS2 full, just to get rid of this annoyance. This is a really smart move and I love the fact that DCS now just knows what I have and manages the modules accordingly. Looking forward to having all modules on the new system. Perhaps with 2.5?
  3. I don't see the problem either. It's perfectly valid to charge money for it, given the work that has gone and will go into it. I think a cleaner solution would have been to just include the assets as part of the map, even if it means a slightly higher price.

    What, FC-17?

This is great news. The number of fast jets coming out now is overwhelming. I remember only a short time ago, that the lack of hi-fidelity fast jets was one on the most lamented things about DCS. In only a few short years we have gotten the MiG-21, F-5, M2000 and Viggen. The Harrier will drop any time now and the F-14 and F/A-18 are not far away. And now another promising aircraft, which seems to be quite far along in development. This is awesome. Also much needed as the JF-17 will make a nice potential adversary for western fighters. I hope that the SOH map will eventually include a sliver of Pakistan from which to operate the JF-17 in that theatre. Perhaps Gwadar airport?
  5. The Spitfire also has a pilot body. I fly the F-5 in VR all the time with pilot body on. sure it's too high? In any case, I think it's great for immersion, as your mind tricks you into thinking it's your own. I hope the remaining aircraft get pilot bodies soon.
  6. Same. Can't load the countermeasures pod in any mission for several days now.
  7. I'm continually dumbfounded by the lack of progress in CPU power year over year. Every time I have researched the topic I have found myself sicking to my CPU. Worth upgrading from a 4770k now?
  8. Haha, I don't think hardly anyone outside of Australia or even outside of Australian Defence or Police will know what you mean by Emu Parade.
  9. Weird, I had the image in there, I could have sworn it. Here's the google maps URL for Krasnodar Center: https://www.google.de/maps/place/Krasnodar,+Region+Krasnodar,+Russland/@45.0800436,38.9420465,2730m/data=!3m1!1e3!4m5!3m4!1s0x40f04564714535b3:0xf720794f56c4beb6!8m2!3d45.0392674!4d38.9872209 And Senaki: https://www.google.de/maps/place/Senaki+Airbase,+Senaki,+Georgien/@42.2457972,42.0477694,3213m/data=!3m1!1e3!4m5!3m4!1s0x405c4da0ea06c179:0xb0e3e8bc7dd99a4b!8m2!3d42.2402113!4d42.0476845 Sochi: https://www.google.de/maps/place/Flughafen+Sotschi/@43.4431021,39.9346698,4784m/data=!3m1!1e3!4m5!3m4!1s0x40f5c00dbd172209:0xcb7c9a1f1b4f5a64!8m2!3d43.4487326!4d39.9420245 All very light in colour
  10. I love the new screenshots, but the texture of the Tarmac is just way too dark. No contrast at all with the surrounding landscape. Here's an example (Krasnodar Center):
  11. Certainly looks that way...
  12. Yeah, the gloves are a bit of an anomaly at the moment. Probably something ED is testing.
  13. Yeah, this is a problem, but spotting targets isn't that easy with a monitor either. This is an issue with DCS in general. Spotting aircraft is actually easier in VR I have found, at least against the horizon. If they're up in the blue sky or against the terrain they're practically invisible unless really close. I any case, I'm really happy VR already works as good as it does. Once headsets with better resolutions arrive it will be truly awesome.
  14. I'm surprised no one mentioned mapping the trim controls to the trim hat. They're mapped to the view commands by default.
  15. Same problem again today. MiG-21s unable to load missiles in phone booth.
  16. The server is currently running springfield and red is unable to rearm. Ground crew doesn't respond.
  17. Why is my favourite server down? What do I do now???!
  18. Honestly, the situational awareness actually makes it easier and VR users have forgotten it's just as hard to spot aircraft on a monitor.
  19. For me it was this. I was 10 years old and it was the most awesome thing ever.
  20. I don't think there is any reason for you to buy another stick to enjoy the WW2 aircraft. The buttons you actually need on the throttle and stick are very few and can easily be bound in a matter of minutes. All you'll need is the trigger, weapon release, and sight controls. The axes are also easily bound. The great thing is you can use the left and right throttles for the engine RPM and throttle levers.
  21. This leads me to wonder where RAZBAM got the information on the systems functionality.
  22. While most of the DCS sounds are awesome, one area that has always been lacking is the external jet engine sounds. No module so far has replicated that typical rip-roaring sound. I hope the Hornet will sound as awesome outside as inside.
  23. Not sure if that ever really worked. It could just be a placebo. It was never confirmed. Only subjective anecdotes. The Mirage cockpit is terrible for VR, that's true. Even with a high PD the labels are just so small. Other aircraft are generally fine.
  24. I doubt very much we'd get a map containing almost all of Italy, though it would be nice.
  25. I too am disappointed on this front, although it's understandable of course. Fortunately the Strait of Hormuz map will present a number of great scenarios as many of the countries operate western aircraft. Maybe that's why it was chosen? Iran: F-14 F-4 F-5 UAE: Hawk Mirage 2000 Qatar: Mirage 2000 Oman: Hawk
