  1. Here's the whole booklet by the way: https://archive.org/stream/Oberkommando-der-Luftwaffe-Horrido-Des-Jaegers-Schiessfibel/OberkommandoDerLuftwaffe-Horrido-DesJaegersSchiessfibel194436S.Scan#page/n0/mode/2up
  2. Most of this stuff is difficult to translate as it's done in rhymes and puns are used that make no sense in english. First Page: "If you play with her buttons (trigger), she'll bang*. With the ladies it's the same." *Though note that bang here is probably referring to the fact that you'll get slapped, not laid. Second page: "If a fortress starts to smoke, don't dream of your victory, keep shooting! Many have regretted celebrating too early." You know the third page. Fourth page: "None other than the hunter, feels the fight and victory so strongly. This makes us happy, proud and content. To hunting a - Horrido!" Fifth page: "Resi (the girl) is easily conquered, (but) don't bend/break the revi (gunsight)." I know it all sounds clunky, but it's all done for the sake of having the poems rhyme.
  3. I think of this movie every time I check my fuel in the Spit :D
  4. I also had mixed feelings about this movie after I saw it. I really want to like it, but there was so much I felt was quite cringe-worthy. I'll admit I even felt like walking out during the first half. The movie feels more like a sketch comedy parody of Star Wars, rather than a Star Wars movie. The opening scene where where General Hux is being toyed with by Poe is funny, but it completely undermines his character and the danger that the First Order poses. Compare Hux and the First Order to Grand Moff Tarkin and the Empire. I would like the First Order to have been more menacing than the Empire. Instead they look like Saturday morning cartoon villains. Then there's the scene with the attack on the dreadnought. Incredibly slow moving bombers (why sooo slow?) advance on a ship to drop bombs on it? How without gravity??? Yes this is fantasy... fantasy physics. Sure, I'll go with it. Makes sense. BB8 "fixing" the X-Wing was a little too ridiculous. But it's funny. It's funny, right? Yeah, pretty sure that part was funny. Cringe is a type of humour after all. The whole Canto Bight escapade what literally useless. They achieved nothing and put the whole resistance in jeopardy. Ok, maybe it's supposed to be a lesson about things not always going the way you expect? Yeah, that must be it. Subverting expectations... Well done Rian Johnson! Even then, the whole Canto Bight sequence looks completely out of place aesthetically. Earth fashion and architecture with aliens... Worse than in the prequels. But I'm sure I'll get over this, like I got over the prequels. Mark Hamill did a great job as Luke, even though the character is questionable. Chucking the Lightsabre was kind of funny, but then it only gets worse. Luke is tired of the force and being a Jedi because Kylo Ren turned to the dark side? And then it turns out he wanted to kill Kylo because he feared the dark potential in him? Why??? Why would Luke Skywalker be so afraid of the dark side? He turned his own father FROM the dark side. So he risks trying to kill (Ben Solo) Kylo and ultimately pushes him all the way to the dark... good move Luke. “A Jedi uses the Force for knowledge and defense, never for attack.” - Yoda It doesn't make sense for Luke to be so afraid. Who was it again that said this?: “Fear is the path to the dark side…fear leads to anger…anger leads to hate…hate leads to suffering.” So Luke is a really terrible Jedi it turns out. And this is the guy that then gives Rey her "training", that consists of teaching her how to meditate while tickling her with a blade of grass (bwhahaha, hilarious!). At least Luke has a good sense of humour, even if he's a terrible Jedi. Speaking of Rey, she's a character I got to like in the force awakens. The were some big mysteries about who her parents were and how she is such a natural force user. These things are a big deal - she can use Jedi mind tricks and is a natural with a light sabre. There must be something to this... It takes much training to be a Jedi, so she must be very special to be able to do these things straight away, right? Nope. Her parents were nobodies and her powers will never be explained. OK... Supreme Leader Snoke, the mysterious leader behind the First Order actually shaped up to be a compelling villain. The made really good use of him and explained who he is, where he came from and the characters were also interested in this, right? Nope. Instead they just kill him off like he was no-one, pretend it's not a mystery who he was and leave it at that. Then Rey and Kylo proceed to team up and Kill his guards (who could be the important Knights of Ren mentioned in episode 7, but that doesn't matter, because they're not important now). This is actually quite awesome, and to top it off Kylo then asks Rey to join him. This movie is really subverting Star wars, so its going to be really awesome and unexpected if Rey actually does join Kylo, right? Nope. She does the normal Jedi thing, ignores the emotional connection that has been established through their force meetings, and turns him down. The medical frigate runs out of fuel, slows down and drops away. More fantasy physics... I guess that's ok. I'll learn to love than I'm sure. The attack on the cannon looked beautiful. A heroic attempt to save the resistance. Ooooh, but they're not going to make it... unless this one character who did absolutely nothing useful so far sacrifices himself for the good of the team. And he will! Wait, no he doesn't - The other useless character stops him and puts the whole team in even more danger. Don't get me wrong, I really like Finn's character, but given that they had already written him so poorly, him making his sacrifice would have been a really fitting end for him, right? Nope. Luke does actually turn out to be pretty bad ass after all. The force projection thing is really cool and he tricks Kylo into fighting him and lets the 10 people left in the resistance escape. Oh yeah, Luke's back baby! Awesome!!! Right? ... right? Nope. Luke's dead. Apparently his stunt sucked all the energy out of this ancient Jedi in his mid-fifties. But I'm sure I'll learn to like this part too. After all, it's Star Wars. The truth is, the more I think about this movie, the less I like it. And I really, really, really WANT to like it.
  5. Seeing as the F/A-18 has three MFDs, is it possible to use a third Cougar MFD, or do they have to be in pairs?
  6. Performance is certainly better than ever in 2.2. Still, playing the Epsom campaign, I need to turn the settings down quite a bit and still don't get the frames I want. Stutters a lot even with low settings. Doesn't help either, that with the gunsight bug the Spit is unplayable with ASW on.
  7. Hi, I was just wondering why there is no joystick button emulation for the switch panel? Is it technically not possible? For me it would be easiest just to assign the switches in game.
  8. I keep reading comments of people not wanting civilian aircraft in DCS. This would be a training aircraft in military service. Then there's many of you who say that there already are trainers in DCS, but completely ignore the fact that the OP acknowledged the existence of the modules that represent LATER stages in training. It's like some people are being willfully ignorant. Did people completely miss the fact that this is about having a complete fighter pilot training progression??? Yes, I get that many of you worry that this could suck resources away from something far more important and fundamental, but I think it's a good idea, at least in principle.
  9. Well if a Gripen is off the table, we know it isn't because of a lack of motivation on the part of Heatblur :D
  10. So Boeing is just being bitter about the fact that the Canadians are able to produce passenger aircraft at lower cost?
  11. I've looked at the P1/P2 box before but was disappointed with the lack of three way toggles. I've discovered the FLT1/FLT2 as well, and they have three way switches, but the toggles just fit better for military aircraft. Also how do you use the rotaries? Can you set them to do things such as uncage SAI, change altimeter pressure? And can you use them for rotary switches such as radio and TACAN knobs?
  12. I just use the mouse just like in non-VR. No real difference in practice.
  13. It's a tad overdone perhaps though. Pointing towards the ground everything looks green, as if it were a green filter, which it isn't. I'd like to see it toned back some.
  14. At the risk of sounding like a fanboy, VR is the ultimate way to go for headtracking needs. If it needs to be cheap, it's out of the question of course.
  15. Thank you for this optimistic post.
  16. Wow, really awesome!!! Can't help notice that it's an F/A-18E in the MFD though :P
  17. Honestly, if only one new plane come out a year, it would be more than enough to try and master :D I'm absolutely fine with the CE2. Not super thrilled, but fine. I might even buy it. In any case it's a testbed for the Corsair, which is still coming out, so nothing lost there. So I don't see the problem people have. Is it because the Corsair is perceived as "delayed" now? Modules get delayed so often in DCS people should be used to it by now...
  18. I agree that NWS isn't needed at take-off and landings, but the NWS has always struck me as being extremely sensitive, even during normal taxi speeds. You can push hard right rudder, tap the nose wheel steering button, and you will have hard right nose wheel steering instantly. It doesn't even seem physically possible.
  19. Will this update in any way improve performance in DCS?
  20. I disagree. About 20 years ago flight sims were huge. Numerous titles of varying difficulty and realism levels were released each year. I remember computer stores having shelves full of different joysticks. VR is absolutely perfect for flight sims and I can't imagine any experience that can work better, once it's well executed. The difference of course is that now DCS is far more realistic and complex than any sim ever was, so it remains to be seen. Even then there will be many who will want to give it a shot, so I think it's worth marketing DCS as a VR title.

Are you kidding? There's been Hornet updates galore and it's certainly the most hyped up module. It's closer than ever. 2.5 will release within the next two months and the early access Hornet will follow. The Eagle Dynamics facebook page also has regular updates.
  22. How did I miss this game at the time? It looks very similar to US Navy Fighters, which came out two years earlier, which I absolutely loved. Also had video cut scenes in between missions.
  23. Apparently a lot of Rifts have the tilt issue. There's a calibration tool that recalibrates the Rift, after which it should be straight. Worked for me. Use at your own risk though: https://www.vrheads.com/how-fix-oculus-rift-calibrations-problems
  24. It might be a good move to store all flight logs with the DCS World account.
  25. People really have issues with having to be online in this day and age? Are there people who still use dialup, or is it just a matter of principle?
