  1. Very good question. I haven't done it myself to be honest. I'll look into getting something set up and I'll share my methodology.
  2. I wonder how the PIMAX 8k will behave with pixel density. Won't we just be able to bump it up to native with the slider?
  3. I've read hardly a mention of the SEPECAT Jaguar. The aircraft is no longer in service with the RAF which would (hopefully) make information more accessible. The aircraft is still in service with the Indian Air Force. It would also make a great addition to Strait of Hormuz scenarios as the Jaguar was in service with the Royal Air Force of Oman until very recently. Not the sexiest choice, but an interesting fit for DCS World.
  4. Would you mind benchmarking a set DCS track on a predefined graphics settings level with fraps? I would then do the same. I'm curious to see what impact the upgrade from a 4770k to a 8700k has on fps.
  5. I see your point. I guess we'll have to wait and see. Given all the delays, we'll probably see the next generation of graphics cards out by release, which will be quite welcome.
  6. You could try if this still works: https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=92483
  7. Have you tried this? https://forums.oculusvr.com/community/discussion/37895/how-to-mirror-audio-on-two-devices-soundcard-and-rift
  8. EDIT: Sorry, I solved this just minutes after posting. I reset the pedals to "default" in the settings tab of the MFG pedals in the Windows game controller setup. Maybe this will help someone else. I just recently noticed that the brakes on my Crosseing pedals are acting weird, and I'm not sure if it's always been like that. When I begin to depress my brakes the X and Y axes automatically jump to 50% of travel and I only get a response in the 50 to 100% range. Is this normal behaviour? I've installed the latest firmware, done the calibration in the MFG configurator, and have tried multiple settings, but can't get the full range from 0 to 100% working. Anyone know what's going on?
  9. If you can run DCS World with an Oculus Rift, at a pixel density setting of 1.7, you should be able to run the PIMAX 8k. Currently at 1.7 pixel density we have a resolution of 3672x2040, which makes 7,490,880 pixels. At a combined resolution of 5120x1440 the PIMAX 8k will run 7,372,800 pixels.
  10. The Aussie Hornets have been upgraded to pretty much F/A-18C standard, so it shouldn't be too far fetched to have them in the Australian roster. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/McDonnell_Douglas_F/A-18_Hornet_in_Australian_service#Maintenance_and_upgrades
  11. I have a 4770k as well and most places I've asked, the advice has been to hold onto it. I had a 980ti and upgraded to a 1080ti last year when it came out and I got a good performance boost out of it. Having said that, and having done some research of late, if you really want to get the best CPU for gaming right now, get an 8700k. Any good brand name z370 motherboard will do. And DDR4 RAM. I'm afraid your current RAM is DDR3 as you're either running a z87 or z97 motherboard.
  12. Ah ok, so the worries are about ghosting? Still, the difference between 80 and 90Hz seems minor in this case.
  13. I keep reading in articles that people are genuinely pissed off about PIMAX still not having achieved 90Hz to work with 8k headset, instead being in the range of 80Hz. Why??? Given that the PIMAX 8k will need all the horsepower it can get, isn't it a good thing that the headset will need less in order to reach 80 fps instead of 90?
  14. Given that Wags has promised end of January, I'm sure they're going to be using all the time they possibly can in this month and that we'll be seeing a release at the latest possible moment.
  15. It's the weight that matters, and thankfully you'll be looking through it, not at it.
  16. Given the popularity of the rotary wing aircraft in and outside of DCS, I am quite surprised that so far there has not been an affordable consumer-level collective. How can this be? Anyone know if say for instance VKB or VPC have one in the pipeline?
  17. 2nd aircraft, yes, it does. That's the pilot's callsign. Here's an F/A-18F with the same name:
  18. Pilot of the livery with the all blue stabilizers is Capt Norbert Szarleta CAG. Judging by the length of the name on the back, my guess it's the USS Dwight D. Eisenhower. VFA-83 was stationed on that ship a few times. The second one is flown by Capt 'Beavis' Bixby DCAG, USS Harry S. Truman.
  19. Looks like the project is coming along nicely... Can't be long now :D
  20. It should work exactly as described in the other post. Is numlock turned on? Have you checked the key assignments? What I have found though, that while you can change your position, only forward/back and up/down are saved. Side to side adjustments aren't. Some aircraft, like the Mig-21 aren't centered, so that I have to put my head to the side and then center, to get a good position.
  21. When was WW2 fought in the modern day Caucasus region?
  22. To answer the OPs original question: the Spit is very good in early access. At this stage there are no show-stopping bugs. And there is in fact even a separately sold campaign out. Overall, yes, the Spitfire is the most challenging WW2 aircraft in DCS, but as others have said this relates mostly to ground handling, takeoff and landing. That being said, this is what makes it fun and rewarding. In the air it's very nimble and much more stick sensitive than the Mustang or the German fighters. It'll easily outturn the others but lacks in the speed department. For this reason I'd say it's actually the easiest aircraft to fly and dogfight in. Only thing is to keep an eye on your engine temps. Some tips that will make life much easier if you do get it: Take it slow and easy taxiing, keep the stick back and avoid clamping the brake Trim for takeoff. The Spit is eager to be in the air. Therefore I give it a lot of forward trim, as well as some right rudder. This should give you a straight takeoff run. Don't use too much power for takeoff - you just don't need it. In the air also go easy on the throttle. You don't want to be above 8 boost for extended periods, especially at low airspeeds as this will make your engine run hot. Landing can be a pain, as you'll almost certainly dip a wing due to the narrow undercarriage. The trick is to apply about 15% brake for landing (you can map it to your warthog slider) and oscillate your rudder upon touchdown. Also make sure you're trimmed nicely for approach.
  23. This looks truly awesome. I especially like the addon panels. Main criterion for me will be that it has all of the functions of the Warthog in roughly the same spots, so that I can conformably fly and operate the A-10C. I don't want to be changing throttles for different aircraft. I hope the layout gets updated to reflect this.
  24. If you can afford it, Oculus Rift.
