  1. By half a + length I mean the "+" motion marker in the axis control panel of windows. I'd say you lose around 5% of range around the edges, which you can get rid of with the calibration tool. The sensor resolution of the Warthog is more than good enough, so any losses there aren't a problem. The slight restriction in throw is actually quite welcome if you use an extension. I'm actually thinking of putting in a second ring to restrict it further.
  2. How is that even possible?
  3. Thanks for the tip on recalibration. The range of motion was indeed lessened by about half a + length on the windows axis test.
  4. I had the o-ring on my Warthog fail just as in first post. I first noticed it when my stick displayed very loose center play. I ended up finding an excellent replacement here: https://www.esska-tech.co.uk/esska_eng_s/Replacement_seals_for_Guillemin_couplings_GMKDRX000000_11700.html,hlid=GMKDR20P0000 The item in question is the white PTFE ring with 64mm outer diameter. It fits as if it were made for the Warthog. Nice and snug. It's thickness and rigidity allow you to just slide it in, with no adhesive required.
  5. Thanks for the replies guys. I guess I'll stick with the 20cm. I'll see how I go and maybe I'll come up with some kind of a restriction for the range of motion. With all of the extensions out there, I'm surprised no third party manufacturer has come up with a solution yet. I think you could solve it by making a simple plastic sleeve to fit over the warthog base. Perhaps something like this:
  6. I have just moved on to a 20cm extension from a 10cm extension. To me the throw seems excessive now, and I'm wondering if I've made a mistake. What is the real stick length from pivot to grip in the real A-10c and in other fighter aircraft?
  7. I also had the problem of not being able to get tone yesterday. I was in prime firing position behind a MiG that hadn't yet noticed me, but I couldn't launch. I checked and re-checked my settings. Weapons were live and wingtip rails selected. I had already successfully launched a missile a few minutes previously.
  8. I don't think we need any more US maps. What we really need are more combat theatres that fit the aircraft that we have and those that are in development: Vietnam Korea Middle East - Afghanistan / Syria / Iraq Eastern Europe
  9. Ok, so I got a completely different view on the AIM-9P5 in multiplayer yesterday. I took down four MiG-21s with four missiles fired.
  10. There are also other instances where this is an issue though. Ghosting is the most prominent.
  11. Ok, if that's how it's supposed to be, that's how it's supposed to be. Thanks. I did notice it being worse than that though. I did test it about 5 times yesterday using the air to air quick mission, but I didn't get any hits at all on the enemy F-5. So no hits out of 10 missiles fired. Admittedly the first attempts were very high angle but I tried getting a better shots in subsequent attempts. I also took care to uncage the missile to ensure a good lock. I too noticed that the ability to get a good IR lock was inconsistent, sometimes not getting a tone even though my seeker is pointing directly at the engines from the rear. Having used the MiG-21 with R-60m I am used to much better results. Yes, I know it's a more advanced missile, but the difference is night and day. As long as the deflection angle isn't too high and the enemy fails to launch flares, it's almost always a sure hit. Even if the enemy launches flares the missile often manages to connect.
  12. My experience with ASW ist that it causes graphics glitches (warps the gunsight in the spitfire for instance) and causes ghosting, most noticeable when aircraft are flying by at speed. I've always turned it off for these reasons.
  13. I've just recently trained on the F-5, having flown the MiG-21 for a while. The performance of the Sidewinders is just terrible, I'm shocked to realize. They're quite bad compared to the R60.
  14. I always thought this is normal... Let's see if a repair helps.
  15. I remember some other games where there was an option to download skins on joining a server.
  16. I see there are still slots left for red? "Cockfighter" MiG-21
  17. I had a flight in an L-39 last year. I was on holiday in South Australia and I found a flyer for it in a clothing store in Port Lincoln. I saw the L-39 on it and it immediately caught my eye. I had a look at their website on my phone and found that, while expensive, the flights were still only around half the price of flights offered in Europe. We were only in town for a couple of days and I didn't think I could get a flight at such short notice, but I thought I'll never get the chance to get in the cockpit of such an aircraft for such a price ever again. I called them, and to my surprise they picked up the phone had no problem fitting me in the next morning, IF the weather is good. Unfortunately, there were strong winds the next day and the flight couldn't take place. We had planned to drive on the next day, so I thought the opportunity had slipped away. However, I received a call that evening and they offered to take me up early the next day. I said sure, why not... It was the weirdest spontaneous decision I ever made. It very surreal turning up at the quiet local airfield the next morning. The pilot turned out to be a very friendly (I think 74 year old?) short grandpa who had made his living as a crop duster and charter pilot. He had bought the L-39 only a few years previously. The L-39 was already fueled up and sitting on the tarmac between various private prop planes. We got introduced while the pilots son prepped the aircraft. I was given a flight suit and a helmet which I promptly donned as my girlfriend was being reassured that I'm in the hands of professionals. Of course, then I signed all my rights away on a piece of paper :D It was very exciting getting the cockpit. It had a musty smell of oil and grease. I was shown how to belt up and to make sure the canopy is properly locked. Taxing off was an awesome feeling, to feel this little aircraft skip over the tarmac. And then the takeoff... I'd never felt such acceleration. We has excellent weather on this day, with great visibility and wonderful white clouds we flew among which gave a great sense of speed. After getting some great views of the coastline Kev (the pilot) allowed me to take the stick and fly a few turns. With Kev back in control we then proceeded to fly a series of barrel rolls and then a 4g loop. Having never felt such g-force it was an incredible feeling. Finally we did a fly over of the runway, finishing with an Immelmann, before landing back at the airfield. A great experience that I'm very glad I had. Unfortunately the facebook page says the L-39 has since been sold.
  18. I agree Falklands would be a really cool scenario for DCS. Unfortunately we don't even have any fitting modules yet, so no real need for such a map.
  19. It's hard to listen to AWACS if they're no longer flying...
  20. Possibly there is a Sweden / Viggen map still on the roadmap from Heatblur?
  21. I just updated to the latest OB and it says I have an invalid key for the Mig-21. Is there any way I can fix this? I'm not clear on the other comments.
  22. More like 38 years, but close ;)
  23. Not really transports, but from a teamwork point of view, an AWACS and a tanker would be most useful and the most fun.

    F-16

Hell, I'd be happy with an F-16A

    F-16

I find it quite perplexing that an F-16 isn't in development, not by ED nor by any 3rd parties, given that it is such an iconic aircraft and that there is abundant information on it (obviously also having been done before by BMS).
