  1. I don't think we're getting through. The matrox will work fine to consolidate the screens for the MFDs. No worries there. But you keep mentioning three 4K monitors connected to 1070 (not 1080Ti). And neither 1070, nor 1080Ti will power three 4K monitors.
  2. Thanks for the review Don! At first I was like "what is that thing? Cotter pin puller?" Nifty idea, fore sure.
  3. check out "The Warthog Cockpit Project" on YouTube. He uses projectors to paint a large view. This is "Romeo Kilo's" project. You can see his thread in detail in the INPUT and OUTPUT/Home Cockpits thread. When he pulls the EJECT seat handle was pretty funny.
  4. I believe I have a leap that purchased years ago that I never used. If anyone wants it, just email me. hansang at google's_email. Remember, email me, don't post a follow up here. I'll pick a random person this Sunday night at 8PM (US Eastern). It's free of charge. I know there's constant "can I use Leap in DCS?" so I figured someone may be interested.
  5. OH, I think you're going to like it. Just make sure you wiretie the cables so it won't pull on the connectors. Ironic that Reverb is more like CV1 than S.
  6. I think a lot of folks here (who've been around the block) would certainly appreciate it. I'll add it to the comment to link to it so let me know.
  7. Wait, you have three 4K monitors and you want to drive them all with your 1080Ti? is that right? I don't think you have enough horsepower to run it all with a 1080Ti. I'm not sure a 2080 Ti could drive all three 4K monitors and MFD monitors. Also HDMI splitters are used to send the same video to different sources so that won't help. Do you have the MFDs already working? Do you need helping with monitor config files? If that's the case, you can look at it here: https://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=2616874&postcount=799 Finally, for the hornet, the MFD names were changed. But I don't have them off the top of my head (I got rid of everything because I went with VR)
  8. When you said it's much "cheaper" That implies it costs less. OS costs money. HW costs money. What am I missing?
  9. With native resolution of Reverb being so high, you have to SS? I don't use it at all and the visuals are really superb. What and where do you set the SS to?
  10. I guess i must have mumbled the "display" part of HMD. It was a single take :) I debated going deeper about SS/PD. But given the audience target, I just wanted to convey that 1.0 and 100% equivalent. However, I noticed that I was starting to go down a rathole that I wanted to avoid. I may do another one that's more detailed. But I better get on the through-the-lens video first.
  11. Why? The OS cost is a drop in the bucket to the overall cost of hosting.
  12. I'm not sure if there will be any immediate impact since the change was just to the cockpit. I haven't tried any of the DLCs after the update. But there is A10C 2 that was announced. So if you decide to stay the A10 route, I don't think it's a dead end street as people design more DLCs suited to the new version 2 Warthawg. However, the DLC's for A10C version 1 will probably not work with version 2, I'm guessing. There were a lot of problems with DLC when the core engine of DCS changed. With upcoming changes to Vulkan API (from DirectX), I can't see how every old DLC will work going into the future. And you can also play FA18 recreationally. There's no rule that says you have to take it to the n'th degree for every module.
  13. What are my chances of getting DCS on Linux? Like 1 out of 100? I'd say more like 1 out of a million So....you're saying there is a chance! :D But in all seriousness, there's no port for Mac. And there are a lot more Macs then there are Linux. Yes, I understand that Mac is Unix derivative from CMU's the Mach kernel. But it's not Linux. So flight sim'ing is already a niche market. Asking them to support yet another niche market of OS would be too much, methinks.

    U.F.O.

LOL. Don't listen to him? ya think? I must say though, he is a true believer of everything he spouts (which is how I'm leaning) or he is a master troll who never tires of coming up with creative ways to describe factual things that have been proven beyond the shadow of a doubt. Either way, I give him credit for his/her zealousness.
  15. If at all possible, use a cable. Wifi is getting better, but one misconfiguration and you're screwed. Turning on "compatibility mode" for older wifi standards can dramatically slow you down. Also, it's a shared medium so someone watching video will more adversely affect you by having to share the airspace.
  16. What everyone said. But yes, there have been big changes to DCS in the last year so it will be more demanding.
  17. DEROS baby! Welcome back. I think you'll like VR. There's a lot of good discussion in the VR sub-forum so post any question you might have ther.
  18. It's a nice piece of work. For those of you who aren't as picky, using a wire-tie to strap it down will work just as well. I've had the very first batch of Reverb (ones before they started shipping with a clip) and never had a problem.
  19. I see. That's unfortunate. Just curious, was it physical loss of vision or was it something like amblyopia or strabismus? The whole reason why I got into VR in the first place was because I wanted to help with my son's strabismus (commonly known as lazy eye). There was a kickstarter for an app called Diplopia that helped my son. At the time, medical literature said that unless you fix it at age 2-4, you can't fix it. Then McGill university proved that the brain more pliable than previously known. The Diplopia app became See Vividly. Again, if it's a physical damage, you can't see stereo. But if it's something else, check out https://www.seevividly.com/
  20. OK, as promised, a quick 15min tutorial on the settings that you can play with or setup in Windows Mixed Reality portal and SteamVR setting. Hope it helps. LMK here or on YT if you have any questions.
  21. Yes, when setting up controls, choose "UI Layer" (where you choose all the planes - on the left side). In there, you'll see VR Centering (or something close to it). You'll also see "VR Zoom" and I'd recommend setting that as well.
  22. Unless it's already been answered, I'll post a step by step tonight or tomorrow night.
  23. What Don is saying is that you are needlessly supersampling at the SteamVR level, and within DCS. So you're double-dipping *and* eating FPS. Now the thing to note is that in DCS, setting PD to 0 means you're not asking DCS to super-sample. But in steamVR 100% means you are *not* super-sampling it. So 1.5 in DCS is equivalent to 150% in SteamVR, makes sense?
  24. And as for the asw1-4 reference, Oculus gave users a quick way to choose what mode ASW should be used. The ATW listed below is basically the first generation of ASW. The KP stands for the number keypad CTRL+KP1 - Disable ASW and USE ATW CTRL+KP2 - Force apps to 45hz, DISABLE ASW CTRL+KP3 - Force apps to 45hz, ENABLE ASW CTRL+KP4 - Enable ASW to operate automatically
  25. I think we can help you out. But you need to tell us where you are in the installation. 1) Are you on windows 10? 2) Have you downloaded SteamVR? 3) You may or may not have to download Windows Mixed Reality depending on the version of Windows. Let's start there and we can help you along. I'm assuming you already downloaded and installed DCS?
