  1. Just like a donut receipt, I can't see a scenario where I'll need to see you receipt! WE don't need to bring ink and paper into this! Enjoy your new toy. RIP: Mitch.
  2. I had both as well. Chose the Reverb. Yes, I miss the FoV. But I don't miss the software (lack) of smoothness. And the Reverb clarity was much more important.
  3. Rift S is pretty far behind at this point. I wouldn't even consider Rift S.
  4. Thanks. I'm thinking the 4790K is going to have a hard time keeping up with the XTal resolutions (either one). If you can share some performance stats, that'd be great.
  5. If you go to the the VR thread, you'll likely get a better answer. And in that VR group, there are threads for various HMD (goggle) manufacturers. Be sure to specify which VR you're using. Follow this trail: ED Forums » English » DCS World Topics » Input and Output » Virtual Reality
  6. But most people who build such pits are not doing it to be practical. It's more a work of love. So I can't imagine that 1% of the 1% sim'ers to change.
  7. What resolution does it come with these days. I know the claim to fame was that even with lower resolution, the lens design made it much more clear. (And demo video seem to bear that out). But which Pimax are you comparing it to?
  8. We have GSMA, LTE, 5GHz, 2.4GHz, all creating cancer in us. What's a little processor on your head? And let's not forget that 5G basically sucks your soul out of you if Internet is to be believed :D
  9. Fixing the YT link. IF you want to use the YOUTUBE, option, you don't need to put https://www... part Also, I think it was just a proposal. Finally, have a look at the parent thread for New VR Pointing Device
  10. I *NEVER* get this. All you have to do is *NOT* buy it until it's finished. You get what you want. But others who want early access get what they want. Both sides win, no?
  11. For me, it's not about the cost of it. After VR, 2D is so underwhelming that there is no joy in it. I get that people love beautiful 4K (or soon 8K) rendering of it. But I'd rather "experience" it. No one is right, so long as you enjoy one or the other (or both), it's winner winner chicken dinner.
  12. I'm actually going to ask for a refund. It's a cool shooter, FPS combined. But I"m so used to DCS that the physic of it bothers me. It's a good game, but so far out of "flight sim" that I don't care for it. But sitting in that massive hangar is pretty cool! :D
  13. I'm agreeing with you as evidenced by my other Star Wars post. And the Ready on the RAMP in Persian gulf with FA18 is hard on the FPS. But it's also because they were rendering FA18 incorrectly, IIRC. And the speed part wasn't about the speed. Rather you just cover more ground and have to fetch more stuff in real time.
  14. Well there a few things that immediately come to mind. 1) You're not going 500MPH or above mach, so there's no need to draw such a huge map. 2) The view is from ground level so there isn't much of a radius to draw 3) The physics is far simpler than 6DOF aircraft Having said that, the new Star Wars came looks pretty good on 2D and in VR.
  15. His "On the Range" videos on YT for A10 are second to none!
  16. Ah, the miraculous recovery! :) Ringers Lactate could solve the Middle East Peace conundrum.
  17. I'm not sure what you mean by a "blank board" There is a sensor that you put on the HMD, and the Finger Control Units (the thing on the finger) has IR LEDs for the tracker to, well track. Miles added the option to add a few more buttons so you can add it to the leff/right side of the HMD. The most immediate uses are "salute to launch" in carrier, or Zoom.
  18. Ah, I have channel map but haven't tried it. Which Instant machine and in what aircraft? I'll give it a whirl and see what I get.
  19. That's not bad. Normandy is the worst optimized map because it came out before ED came out with better options. The company Urga (sp?) stated that they would go back to fix it after Syria is done. When it first came out, it was unplayable in VR. It has gotten better, but that was part of the "we made VR improvements" saga where only some of us saw the benefits. I happened to be in the "damn, that's much better camp"
  20. Yes, but I heard that you can over-G with the paddle switch. :D Sorry, paying homage to the Folds of Honor thread where a bunch of gamers were arguing with F/A18 pilots. Thanks for the perspective from real life! I've always been wanting to get back to the Gazelle, and now I have the excuse to do it. Also, was it the Gazelle that was in the movie "Final Option" That iconic seen as the SAS guys were dropped off at the embassy?
  21. Even if you're used to VR, I think the exaggerated motion will cause nausea. I guess you can (somewhat) test it by zooming in constantly and moving your head around. Even that's not the same as going Exorcist though. But I think in two years, we'll have wider FoV as CPU/GPUs become better. I do miss the wider FoV of P5K+. But I don't miss the software.
  22. :) That and the combat lifesavers who only want to stick you with saline no matter *what* it is. :D
  23. Oh no. Hang in there Miles! Feel better. Do you want me to make a call to the TMC? You know, Tylenol/Motrin/Crutches? :D
  24. Maybe the cockpit in the video was running at a much higher resolution and than downsampled to 1080? Hard to tell with different lighting in play. Also, you might try the Factory New vs Old cockpit to see if it makes a difference. It's in the SPECIAL tab for A10C2
  25. Nicely done!
