  1. The Noctua one he reviews is NOT going anywhere. The moment arm won't be enough to budge it at all. The base is well made.
  2. It's locked at 45FPS, but you (ideally) don't want to go into reprojection. Because the drivers are guessing on the missing frames. It gets it right most of the time, but things like propellers are problematic for reprojection. So if OC'ing reduces the reprojections, it would be worthwhile.
  3. They attempted this before. If you look at the GENERAL options, it's there.
  4. If you're keeping windows on the same (old) drive, you don't have to mess with the Saved Games folder. You can just copy the Eagle Dynamics folder from your old drive to new. And update any shortcuts on the desktop/start menu. That's it.
  5. Native resolution beats upscaling. I've had the rift, the Odyssey, the vive. And I ran them with PD of 1.5 or 1.8 depending on. Reverb at PD1.0 blows them all away. As MRTV already reported, running Reverb at 50% resolution was better than RiftS at 100%
  6. 8700K did well by me. 10700K that I now have is doing well too. But ultimately it comes down to how much your budget is. Get the best processor you can at your budget. Apparently, some leaked benchmark is showing Ryzen finally beating Intel in single core performance. But it's leaked so who the hell knows. In technology, you can wait forever for the next big thing. But one month isn't that long to way for Navi/AMD releases. So I would wait to see what happens there.
  7. PSU is the *one* thing you can carry from system to system. So it makes all the sense to buy platinum rated 1K or higher. It'll be with your for 3 or more upgrade cycles.
  8. Color me jealous!!!! :thumbup::thumbup:
  9. G1 to G2 should be marginal upgrade. The latest YT videos seems to show better VR experience than most people thought. So I would prioritize GPU upgrade over G1 to G2. Either way, you're going to wait (for more VRAM NVDA, or Navi/AMD, or for G1 to G2 reviews) so looks like you'll benefit.
  10. VR is the future of flight sim. It's a forgone conclusion. We can argue the adoption curve aka affordability of it. But it's the future. The tech field is littered with dominant players who missed out on a shift. WordPerfect being late to Windows environment caused its demise. Novell not taking NT serious (for good technical reasons or not) caused them great harm. So as ED updates the core (hard work, I'm willing to give them slack), the goal should be to prioritize VR experience. It's more demanding so that's the high bar that they should attack.
  11. It's not up to ED (or any program) The OS decides it.
  12. I can't find it anymore, but there was a comparison of faster memory in VR. And there was material difference in FPS.
  13. Take a look at PointCTRL. https://pointctrl.com/ Also, us VR types have a subthread under INPUT/OUTPUT forum. Lots of great information there.
  14. Hmmm, getting a little worried now. But I'll give it a few more days.
  15. Well *clearly* you're lying. There's no need to for 3090. There's no need for 3090. there's no reason to upgrade. there's....no...reason. checking EVGA for AIO 3090..... :D:D:D Damn you!!!!!!! LOL. I hope you enjoy it, sounds wonderful.
  16. OF COURSE they support WMR since it's Microsoft's own flight sim. It'll bring VR with G2 launch. But there is already an Air Force contingent training with VR and DCS A10. Why is direct support mandatory? Don't get me wrong, for new users it will be way way way easier to consume DCS. Setting up WMR, then SteamVR, then DCS can be daunting at worse, and pain in the ass at best. But I don't know that it's "mandatory"
  17. Hmmm, I ordered back on July 1st. Were you earlier than that? I haven't seen an email from them (those rat bastards! :D:D)
  18. Interesting. He didn't say what HMD he was using (I don't think). But the fact that 3090 let's you jack up SS w/o penalty is interesting.
  19. It won't fit in your VIC 20 so you're going to have to upgrade to an Amiga. I never could understand why people get sooooo attached to their HW or vendor. For me, it's just a tool to let me play DCS in best possible way. (And other work, of course) But glad you're excited for the AMD launch. I hope it lives up to your expectations.
  20. I had an AIO cpu cooler. But delid'ing it made a HUGE difference. This was with 8700K which didn't have solder as the TIM. When I got the 10700K, I didn't even bother with AIO. I delid'ed *and* went direct to die (so no more Integrated heat shield) and using Noctua tower cooler. both CPUs are OC'ed to 5.1GHz. So my conclusion led me to believe that delid (or direct-to-die) matters more than what cooler you have.
  21. There is a lot to be said about lens design. Supposedly, G2 Reverb has a better lens design and has a bigger sweet spot. And I don't mind my Reverb, but I'm coming from Rift so the jump up was great (for me). But that reminds me, play around with pulling or pushing the HMD side to side, in and out, up and down. Maybe you're off the sweet spot? might as well as rule it out.
  22. If it *feels* good enough, it's good enough. Some people get motion sickness if it's too herky jerky. I see you had it cranked to a much higher resolution. I had to ask because SS% changed over time. So absolute resolution makes it easier to compare. Do you wear glasses in real life? Meaning are you near sighted? If so, even though the lens is up close, the focal distance is still few meters out. Don't chase the green/red or even FPS. If it feels smooth enough for you, just go with it. I find that 45FPS is the minimum for me to enjoy it. If it constantly dips below that, it gets annoying.
  23. I took that to be granted. But I should have pointed it out. The other permutation is it's not so good, but it's way way way cheaper. That would entice people.
