  1. I guess that's 30 seconds I'll never get back. I thought you had something pertinent to discuss. The do have a chit-chat forum where you can do stuff like this to your heart's content.
  2. When you set the SS in SteamVR at 150% what does the resolution say? And are you using the beta SteamVR?
  3. Not a technical one. But you will have to map out the throttle functions on all the planes you own.
  4. OK, now *that* was a good comeback! LOL. :D:D But 2 point deduction for the misquote. "The Pentagon sees to it that I know more than you."
  5. But I think only two of the games tested were capable of VRSS. And this part gave me hope "We have also welcomed a new VR reviewer, Sean. He is a racing and flight sim specialist who also will join us in benching VR for this large and growing community."
  6. Saw this in the HW/SW thread and posting here. I'm sure more of you care. LOL Now write to them and ask them to test DCS. TL/DR: Conclusion We are surprised that the RTX 3080 – although Ampere has no VR optimizations over Turing – is able to give a superior VR experience at more demanding settings than the RTX 2080 Ti. We think that the RTX 3080 is a good upgrade over the RTX 2080 Ti for VR, even more so than for pancake gaming. https://babeltechreviews.com/vr-wars-ampere-vs-turing-the-rtx-3080-vs-the-rtx-2080-ti-fcat-vr-performance-benchmarked/
  7. Not always. Different HW specs have different bottlenecks. always have, always will. But DCS fires up 50-64 software threads. All of which runs on one core (maybe two, I'm told the audio portion runs on a separate core). And resource meter bears this out. But again, I understand the complexity of getting the scheduling right for multiple threads to coordinate. I'm afraid when I took Operating Systems, multi-threading wasn't de rigueur! So I have no way of judging what amount of effort it takes to move the software threads to separate physical cores.
  8. But a full fidelity cockpit *WILL* make A10A just as complicated as A10C. FC's planes were meant to be more arcade than not. It's meant for casual gamers who want to have fun. Not have to spend hours studying how to start up their aircraft. So you can't have it both ways. You can't selectively say "make it complicated by giving me realism, but make it simple" BTW, A10C already has a game mode where things are vastly simplified.
  9. Could care less about the politics of it. The argument against would be: 0) Improve VR performance 0.1) Bring Vulkan to the beta stage 0.2) New texture update for Huey 1) Huey with MP 2) Cobra 3) Making sure Kiowa works 4) Improve F16 5) Improve F18 6) make sure Normandy map creators follow through on using new tech to update the maps. I understand that representation is important. So I'm not dismissing the ask. But I am dismissing the priority of it. I would say the same thing to someone who demands the correct representation of stars at night time. It's all a matter of priorities.
  10. It's not that complicated. It's just a "home" screen where you can launch games, calibrate things etc. It's like Oculus home that runs every time windows boots. Then you need SteamVR plug in. But you do *NOT* need Steam version of DCS. I did a quick tutorial. Keep in mind things have changed, but you'll get an idea of what it takes to configure WMR. It's not much.
  11. But there is lies the problem. By all accounts NVDA had a lot of stock. But every major site had record setting customer demand. So AMD *almost* has to control the inventory so it won't be seen on shelves for days on end.
  12. But you're forgetting the number one reason why vendors don't have performance testing. The results can be used against them by the competition.
  13. Until recently, I had 8700K system but running at 5.1GHz. And when I went from 1080Ti to 2080Ti, I saw a nice bump in VR experience. So I would think you would see a better experience going from 1080Ti to 3080. But as others have stated, there is AMD release coming out so maybe they will deliver something that's attractive.
  14. My guess because no one really has JUST a DCS machine. I'm guessing lot of people do other work on the machine. I know I do.
  15. HMCS was a lot of work I'm sure. Also, the "it's not a big deal to change some minor things" in software is NEVER true. No one should feel guilty about paying what the vendor asked for. However, I do support ED by buying every add-on DLC etc w/ the exception of Migs and the J something or another plane.
  16. I guess because it would mess up the commercial agreement with the Air Force. But that's just a guess on my part.
  17. Bobaz, not to worry. You get used to it pretty quickly. Because I started out at DK1 (to DK2, to CV1) I didn't know why people were saying "it's like looking out of a diver's mask" Then I bought P5K+ and said...Ohhhhhh, that's a much nicer FoV. When I went back to CV1, it was EXACTLY like looking out of a scuba mask. But, after jumping ship to Reverb for better clarity, I don't even notice it anymore. You just get used to it. Pimax 8K++ is supposed to address both. Better FoV and clarity that rivals or is better than Reverb. But again, the software (pitools) was a concern for me. So I'll stick with my Reverb and G2 on pre-order.
  18. I would also recommend Bunyap's YouTube channel. The first few are A10A but still good. The rest are A10C. HIGHLY recommended
  19. Mover (ex F16 and F18 aviator) mentioned in combat it's lights out. Which makes all the sense in the world. In formation flying you leave them on. Or turn on other lights as needed.
  20. I think the point is that real A10 drivers at Davis Monthan OK'ed the change. So they must think it's OK. That's how I read it. Of course, those guys all use VR so they can just move the head around like in real life. Maye that's the difference?
  21. Hey, that was worth the necro, no? What a great video. But to his point (the guy that necro'ed this thread) body representation, male or female should be low on the priority list. In the words of Shania, bodies in DCS? "that don't impress me much"
  22. But we would. Devs who could be working on Kiowa, Cobra, F16 etc would have to work on updating FC3 planes which were never meant to be full fidelity. My guess is that ED would be much more successful launching Kiowa's of the world than updating A10A. Especially with A10C and II coming out soon. A10A probably wouldn't move the needle for ED.
  23. But every "new toy" comes with the same comments. Only the people who have problems shout so it skews the perception. You probably need a longer duration to see what the true MTBF is.
