  1. Clearly not committed to the cause! Burn him! Well, he turned me int a newt:D
  2. You should follow up in the Rift thread. There is NO way 3090 struggles with Rift S when others have SS in Reverb. I would take everything from the start and take it one at a time. Something is not right with your setup if the 3090 can't handle RiftS. I"m sure the Rift dedicated thread will recommend deleting shaders, or clean installing GPU drivers, to making sure you're not double SS (PD and in Oculus), reducing shadows etc. But something is way off.
  3. Various people have reported success. But it's not a road that I would go down considering you have to invest in another 1080Ti. If you have a spare one already, there's no harm in trying. But I would NEVER recommend buying another GPU to implement SLI.
  4. And yet the company owner publicly stated that improving the core is top priority. So I'm guessing it's a top priority until proven otherwise.
  5. If only ED developers could work in Ludicrous Speed!
  6. If you buy from AMZN or TARGET or Walmart or REWE any other grocery store with a reward card, then yes. You're already doing that.
  7. No, the "two weeks" is a running joke. Wags announced some of the work was done for Vulkan, but that all the shaders needed to be touched. So it's probably next year the earliest? That's a SWAG on my part though.
  8. Since the beginning of time, urrr epoch time would be more appropriate, HW has been thrown at the problem of "slow".
  9. 45 for me is actually quite good. 90 would be better, of course. The promise of vulkan for me is the mgpu capability. Where maybe, SLI like function could be had for VR.
  10. I can't even imagine what lies ahead. VR came out of nowhere to change sim'ing forever. Maybe haptic feedback gloves?
  11. His point was that having an AI gunner may be pointless. Or AI pilot if you want to be the gunner.
  12. You really should consider waiting for the Fall 2021. I hear good things about Spring of 2022. But of course the fall of 2022, we'll finally see technology breakthrough that we've been waiting for...but in Spring of 2023, now that will be worth the wait. There is a concept of sunk cost and opportunity cost that should be considered when making tech decisions.
  13. The folks in the VR thread are reporting being able to run DCS with high SS value, shadows etc. So if it's disposable income, it may be worth a look. I think the point that most 2D players miss is that in 2D, there isn't much difference between 80 or 90 FPS. But in VR, every missed frame counts. So the more headroom you have, the better.
  14. Awesome. I'm going to sit tight for Hyrbrid (AIO) version. I switched to CPU air/tower cooler so I need to be careful.
  15. Remember, A10 was first launched in the 70's When 4KB was the norm for memory shipped with computers of its time. You can upgrade things, but there has to be continuity. Also, checking out Bunyap's series on YT. Highly recommended. As for the siderwinder, do you mean why it doesn't have a seeker in the back? Or do you mean why can't you fire it backwards? I'd be very leery about firing a heat seeking missile right at my engines! Also the rails would all have to be modified, I imagine. Finally, multiple ways of doing things makes sense to me. Gives you some redundancy.
  16. Don, go to dinner and look absolutely frustrated (but not upset, this is important). When she asks "what's wrong?" Say, "oh, nothing..." but sigh (this is important) When she inevitably follows up with another question, say "Oh, that computer part I was going to change an changed my mind about? I may have been rash...I think my first decision was right....Remember the CUDA cores? The extra memory BW, the unique fan design?" As her eye rolls back from boredom throw in a "....but it's OK, I'll deal with it some how." And you'll have your 3090! :D:D You're welcome.
  17. Yeah, something I do have to think about because I gave away my CPU, MB and AIO-CPU cooler when I upgraded my current HW. I guess I'll just sit tight for the EVGA Hybrid. They're usually 6-8 months behind launch.
  18. Yes, you can just grab one or the other and copy it to another SSD. Then delete the original folder after comparing files to make sure everything moved OK. You don't need to do this, but it's a habit of mine. You don't have to change anything since the SAVED GAMES folder will stay on the original C: (the disk with the OS) drive.
  19. Have a look at https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=287876 for more info (if needed)
  20. Ironically, the new fan design of 3090's makes me think AIO CPU cooler is back in play.
  21. You and me both!!! The bastards....:D:joystick::thumbup:
  22. That would eat up more ports, but it would be simpler. The lua files are all a bit different, but the logic is the same. Have a look at the parent thread (Input/Output) as there is a sticky "how to..." for switch configs. Also, have a look at this thread https://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=2893725&postcount=104 Also, search for "How to Edit Control Binding Files.pdf" on google and you'll find quite a few examples and explanations.
