  1. Great to hear Hub. I also had a tendency for too much up trim so I trimmed it best I could on the downwind for level flight.
  2. Finally!! After umpteen trys with various settings I finally did it. Tweaked the stick settings a bit until the response felt good for me. In the landing training mission I approached the runway with pitch set to 2650, throttle approx 0 boost, passed down the center of the runway at 220 mph at 200 ft and effected a military landing breaking to the left and climbing a bit to 300 ft. Trimmed the aircraft while maintaining 180 mph on the downwind and left base to final speed reducing to 120 mph at the threshold and continuing to reduce while I maintained "gentle" control on pitch a couple of feet off the runway. Throttle was pretty well off by this time but gently shut the throttle completely and kissed the runway with NO BOUNCE. Checking the replay after I saw that my speed had reduced to just below 100 mph and wheels down was at 85-90 mph. Let her roll out with very little rudder needed. Even if I may have not done it according to the book, it was beautiful to watch. The goddess Fortuna being fickle in nature I'm sure will want some further sacrifice until she grants me another such landing. Anyway . . . . thank you all very, very much for the feedback. It helped me tremendously! Very happy knowing that it is possible. Cats . . . ps. I think my issues before were crossing the threshold too slow and too high and when pulling back a bit on the stick it started to flare and approaching stall dropped a couple of feet too much. I had little to no control. Crossing the threshold at 120 allowed me to maintain control while tweaking her as the speed further reduced and finally gently settled down.
  3. My understanding and testing definitely shows that airspeed - thruput to the RAD intakes is something to watch. Climbing and low airspeed coupled with higher boost and RPM will certainly make the TEMPS climb. ps. A 109 will outclimb you. :)
  4. I have found that because the RAD on the MK IX is a closed system, it takes a lot to overheat it . . . but . . . . the OIL Temp. is another thing. It seems that it is ready to go over 80 C at any time with the usual results. Like the OP, I watch Boost and RPM and still find the temps a bit high OIL wise and therefore wonder about the modelling. Just wondering at this time.
  5. Yes, I had it absent in the cockpit when restarting a training mission then pressed F2 for a look-around and the sound was there. Then pressing F1 and going back into the cockpit it was back to normal sound.
  6. Hmmm, reminds me of the law of diminishing returns at a specific point. Would you encourage some right rudder or left aeleron input at the point of wheels touching? In this case.
  7. Aye, that is the rub to quote the Bard. However, many in the community are successful . . . . . :)
  8. Thanks WAGS. With the old steam guages it is hard to determine the 60/70 mph so was settling level at 100 until stable then cutting throttle several feet above ground. This is an amazing bird if it will still fly at those lower speeds but I will give it a good go and convince myself that I won't dent the tarmac at the threshold. ps. Following your take-off demo, I can get it to fly off the runway just as you have demonstrated. Question: after you lifted off, I gather you trimmed fast to slightly nose up during the climb-out? Thanks, Cats . . .
  9. Whew - sorry to learn of your issue but thankful that I'm not the only one. :) ps. I made a mission and ensured that there was NO wind to test this with the same results.
  10. Before and let it settle in.
  11. :) :) My pilot did the following: Clipboard01.jpg
  12. Thanks WAGS and thanks to you as well! This is quite a challenge and quite rewarding as well. The hard part is deciding to determine if it is an aircraft issue or a "pilot" issue. :) But the dialogue after postings are great by the community. Cheers, Cats . . .
  13. Ha Little_D, And this from a 109 driver? :) Nice to see you here also . . . been a while from COD. Cheers, Cats . . .
  14. Hi Guys, I continually make good touchdowns under 100 mph with very little or no bounce - they are usually 3 pt. landings. However, after rolling for about 5 seconds, the right wing suddenly dips and bites into the turf initiating a ground loop. Throttle is off, pitch is fine, brakes are not applied and the stick and rudder are neutral. There is no drift left or right after touchdown and it goes straight except - yup, right wing suddenly dips. Any suggestions please - with much thanks. Cheers, Cats . . . .
  15. That's what I get in my tests also. 250 yds.
  16. My RAF pilot certainly knows how to maintain discipline when he's in a lot of poo! Pilot at Attention.jpg
  17. Originally 400 then reduced to 250 with some senior pilots getting their mechanics to change to 100 yds.
  18. I have it mapped to the throttle gray slider and as I use Target Script, I have it coded so that the middle notch is 2850 rpm. Yes, you will need to adjust it often enough to give it some priority in your mapping.
  19. Hi, Flying the cold start mission, I decided to check out the guns and did a gun-run on the parked helicopter and the parked Spitfire. The helicopter received no damage but the Spitfire certainly did. But, it still shows as though it is sitting on its landing struts and wheels yet they are missing. See pic. Cheers, Spit Damage.jpg
  20. Very nice!! The flyby sounds in the SIM certainly need changing. They seem to be generic at this time. I have confidence this will be accomplished and helped by guys like you that can influence the ED team. Cheers
  21. I have Saitek pedals also and have the brakes mapped to both left and right rudder brakes. It is nice to be able to press the right pedal and also the right brake and vica versa but . . . . I want to try and stay as close to the real thing as possible so I also have the brakes mapped to my WH Joystick switch 4? - - the big pinky lever. Works fine there also. I'll probably go with this after a few checkrides.
  22. Is there a possibility that you are taxiing with the brakes on? They need to be reversed in the settings. Just a thought.
  23. Keep an eye on the RPM's. 2800 is about right for most flying. Prop pitch is the key for that.
