Its placed in the SA Map so that suggests its destined for either a ship or an aircraft, but it is clearly the ship fired version because there is no parachute attachment, so that would confirm to me its not designed for, or there is no code as such, to launch it from an aircraft or helo. Not yet anyway. I have not had time to try what PRCCowboy talks about above but that would seem to be worth a try.

This is my line from our Merlin - the Mk46 can be found here - Beta/CoreMods/tech/SouthAtlanticAssets/Shapes/Weapons { CLSID = "DIS_mk46torp" , attach_point_position = {-0.0, -0.126, -0.0} }, Dropping the LT5 from PRCCowboys P8 it does track towards and strike a moving ship, but the Mk46 does not work.
-
You can use free fall and para retarded bombs, I managed it with the Merlin, but as I said they never seem to hit a moving target.
-
Blue Merlin armed with 2 x Mk54 Torpedo's - Red Submarine moving on surface - Set for Anti Ship Strike to attack that submarine. It flew right over the target and carried on to next waypoint - Tried it again with LT5 Torpedo - same outcome. At no point did the Helo adopt an attack profile or deviate from course to next waypoint. Same scenario armed with FAB-250-M54-TU (which is para retard free fall bomb) - Helo adopted an attack profile and did (eventually) drop the bomb after doing a few passes over the submarine, the bombs always miss the target by about 100+ yards at least. Same outcome with FAB-250, near misses every time, I have never hit a moving submarine yet. SO - Mik45 and LT5 dont work hung from a helo, but free fall iron bombs do drop, and miss every time !! I dont know what the answer is to this problem but at least this confirms the code is not working for helo's.
-
I painted up some bombs to look like torpedo's to hang on our Merlin Helo, they would drop and go bang on impact with the water, as you would expect. Not very realisteic of course. I tried the LT5 but that never worked, it would not even drop off the pylon, so I tried the Mk54 - same outcome. That was a good while ago and the code has changed recently so I will try it again and see what happens now. There is a huge difference between how aircraft act with torpedo's and how helos act but I could never figure it out.

Tried a little experiment with the Mk46 Torpedo on Cowboys P8, just to see what happened. The Mk46 flies all over the place when its dropped and rides on the surface when it does finally fall into the water, and just goes around in circles, It did not head towards the target at any point. Conclusion - Experiment failed, stick with PRCCowboys LT5 arrangement, that does work.
-
Sorry Arrow11, I thought you meant it did not explode on contact with the target, my mistake.
-
Thanks for that Arrow11, I had not kept myself up to date on that Mod. Thats the LT5 Torpedo he uses in that Mod and it does explode on contact. The LT5 isnt a modern aerial drop torpedo but the Mk46 which is now in game is, although it does not have a para retard function as far as I'm aware, will have to give that a try and see what happens. The Mk 46 is carried by UK Helo's so I will try it with the Merlin after I have had a closer look at his code.

I believe Hawkeye62 and a few others have been trying to get airdrop torpedo's to work for quite some time, without success. I dont know how far along they are with that problem but you could ask him, he's a very helpful guy who is more than happy to share knowledge. I played around with it for a while with the Merlin Mod I did with Admiral, using the Mk46, but it jut drops them like a bomb and I decided to wait and see if anyone else could crack the problem. Really pleased to see the folded version, we did our Merlin the same way, as a static.

Looking nice. Folding blades and tail are essential for carrier ops, these larger helo's take up too much space otherwise. Would be nice to have a Royal Navy HC4 Commando Version as well.

Superb detail, I'm not a WW2 fan but this is quality workmanship which you have to admire.

I dont see much point in doing any skins for this Mod yet, the description.lua is a bit of a mess with multiple duplications in the lines and they are going to have to sort it out, that could means changes to the edm, and that could mean lots of work that you may well have to do again. Once they tidy that up, and I'm sure they will, I might have a go at some different skins. On the other hand there are already quite a few skinners doing stuff, so your prayers may be answered sooner than you think. Its a great little Mod, I love it.

Thanks Urbi A couple of us had noticed the lack of wheel animation, and other small issues, we assume they will fix these things as they progress with the mod. I understood your point about the textures but all of that is controlled by the edm and I have no access to that, so technically there is nothing I can do to fix that. I have seen that with several new mods recently, the description.lua's are MASSIVE with many lines being duplicated multiple times, which cant help performance one bit, so yes I understand what you are saying. Only the authors can fix that, I would not know how to fix it even if I could access it. I wonder if its a Blender issue, but again I dont know what Software they are using so I'm just speculating. My aim was to see if I could improve areas that I could access and I think I managed that, its just tinkering around the edges for now but at least the Split Air guys can see what issues we have identified, and that will be a good thing I'm sure. Nobody is reporting an improvement in performance from what I did so I guess it didnt work, so I wont bother with the liveries.

Thanks Tanuki44, It doesn't seem to affect the mission as such so not a big deal really, I did not see it in any other mods I use but if others are affected then it might be a recent game issue, I have noticed a couple of other small hiccups since the last update. Its a cracking little aircraft so I can live with it.

I changed ALL textures to dds format and deleted the original png format hoping the model would load faster but it makes no difference. If you look in the preview window in the ME there is a very noticeable time lag when you change from one livery to another. Its only happening with the Bronco, no other aircraft are affected. Is anyone else seeing this ?
-
First problem I noticed too, loading some textures is painfully slow, I'm solving it by converting everything from png to dds. Loads much quicker. Loving this Mod, I have been looking forward to this for a long time, and about an hour before they released it my drive crashed, so still catching up. Well Done the Split Air Team, this is a real treat to have.

Sorry, its not my mod, if you want to add more liveries you just have to follow what I have done, its not too difficult. I have no plans to add more. -

Okay, here is the solution: Forgive me if you know this already, I'm just covering all the bases. First - Make sure you have added the "Liveries" line to the entry.lua, the last one shown below.: There is a new entry.lua in my zip file, you can just use that if you want, let it over ride the one that is in there now. mount_vfs_model_path (current_mod_path.."/Shapes/") -------------- already in there mount_vfs_texture_path (current_mod_path.."/Textures/") ditto mount_vfs_texture_path (current_mod_path.."/Textures/textures") ditto mount_vfs_liveries_path (current_mod_path.."/Liveries/") ------------ this is a new line you need for the edm to see the liveries. Second: Make sure you have a Liveries folder between Encyclopedia and Shapes and in that there is my folder named "HMCS Montreal FFH 336" If there isnt one there you will have to add it yourself. Third: Drop the new attached 'description.lua'' into each of my livery folders and let it over write the original. Let me know its okay now ? That's it - Somebody in ED needs to brush up on their spelling - Encyclopaedia is spelt this way - sorry, just me being a bit British !!! description.lua Here is a fresh link with the descriptions updated: https://www.dropbox.com/s/2ailrw970th098n/CrazyEddies HMCS Montreal Liveries.zip?dl=0 -
ADMIRAL189'S CORNER - INCOMING SHIP MODELS
crazyeddie replied to Admiral189's topic in Static/AI Mods for DCS World
Okay, I just downloaded the latest version of Admirals Mod and I see the problem, I'm using an older edm and the problem does not happen with that. I cant keep up with every mod change that happens and I missed this one completely. I will rip the whole thing apart and see if I can do it again to see this liveries pack, I'll post the answer on here when I have figured it out. Note - Admiral has given the textures different names so each description.lua in each ship folder will have to be redone to match the changes, that will take a bit of time. -

Have you deleted any previous version of the liveries pack, leaving older versions in the mod can cause issues. Its unusual, but it happens. And make sure you only have one version of the ship loaded into your tech folder. In my liveries pack you will see HMCS Montreal, with a dark blue hull colour. In game you will also see the default HMCS Montreal with a red hull colour. That red hull model is the default texture, originally made by Admiral. That texture is not in the liveries folder, its held in the main texture file. So, yes, there are 2 versions of Montreal, one is the default, the other is mine, pick the one you prefer. If you are loading one version of the ship but seeing a different version then there is something wrong with you liveries folder and I suggest deleting everything and load my liveries pack again. Let me know what happens. -

Here you go, my original link only had 3 liveries in it, this one contains all 7 that I did over a period of time. (I'm always tinkering with stuff !!) Any issues let me know. 4/9/22 - Updated link: https://www.dropbox.com/s/x5dw64ipvty2x2y/CrazyEddies HMCS Montreal Liveries.zip?dl=0 -
