I understand that Silver Dragon, it was just an observation. A great many mods are affected by the games limitations, was it ever thus. Luckily its just a game and not real life Eh !!

Thats the same as I have, so its strange that you are not seeing that Missile but we are. I have played around with things and I cant see any way to remove it, and I cant see any obvious conflict with other mods. Its a shame Razbams Leanders have 8inch guns (?) in a frigate hull instead of 4.5 inch guns, otherwise I would just settle for their Leander. If I ever find a solution I'll let you know.

I dont have the SA Map either yet but the SA Assets pack is available to everyone now. Is it something to do with the lua's, there are Harpoons described in there ... are they being used instead of Exocets and that's causing the issue. I have known the game to do some really weird things with stuff like this. I have the same problem, so its not just navyBtown. Post a copy of your lua's, lets see if there is a difference between what we have and what you are using.

VSN flyable aircraft mods
crazyeddie replied to razo+r's topic in Flyable/Drivable Mods for DCS World
I dont use this particular F4 model in my game, but knowing the quality of Urbi's work in the past I could not resist downloading it just to admire the quality of these skins. If somebody asked me to mark these out of 10, I would have no hesitation in giving every single one of them 12 - I aspire to your standards Urbi - these are EXCEPTIONAL. -
ADMIRAL189'S CORNER - INCOMING SHIP MODELS
crazyeddie replied to Admiral189's topic in Static/AI Mods for DCS World
The 2 letters are the letters displayed on the rear of the flight deck, different for each ship. You can remove those from the file descriptions if you wish, I just put them there for reference as I was doing the skins in case I forgot what they were. -

British Naval Dockyard Tug - Serco ltd (Contracted to all Royal Navy Dockyards) Adjusted wake to '10' - these fat little workboats create a lot of splash - change this line: GT.Tail_Width = 10 Adjusted and corrected textures where I could. Could not change flag - that file (US Flag.dds) is used in numerous other ships Mods and they will take precedent if listed before this Mod in the ME. Mod makers please note, give every texture a unique name, its the only way to fix this. https://www.dropbox.com/s/k236pxzyb7vry9u/UK Dockyard Tug Serco.zip?dl=0 -

There are only 6 ships in the Type 45 Class - I didnt do Defender or Daring, if you are desperate I could knock them out in a few days, its just hull numbers and flight deck letters so not a huge job. Let me know. -

Submitting mods to ED for DCS core implementation
crazyeddie replied to sirrah's topic in DCS Modding
ED continue to evolve the game in different ways, many things in the way maps work has changed over the years and without knowing where they are going next you just have to try and second guess the next change, or make adjustments for the latest change. Sometimes you can do that, sometimes you cannot. Flyable Mods appear to suffer the worst from abandonment its true, but map mods come and go as well. Keeping up with the changes is very time consuming for the people making those mods and its not hard to understand why many just give up. The more complex your Mod the more likely it is to suffer from evolutionary corruption and abandonment. For myself I always aim to work to the 'KISS' principal - Keep It Simple Stupid, but I have had my disappointments as well, too many to remember now. I could make many arguments for why ED should make it easier for modders, how they could make it easier, but in reality it is their game and they have plans to which we are not party and if what we offer is not part of that evolution then so be it, that's how it is. I could even argue they definitely discourage Mods, but that would be unfair, we have the Saved Games facility which gives us huge amounts of freedom to do what we want to their game, sometimes we just have to settle for the option that suits our personal needs best. I think I fit in that box somewhere. Life is full of disappointments - Emilia Clarke refused to marry me when I offered her full access to my Model Railway Magazine collection - I got over it. -
Submitting mods to ED for DCS core implementation
crazyeddie replied to sirrah's topic in DCS Modding
I'm old, I cant even remember what I had for breakfast ... and I always have porridge ! I think there was actually an even earlier version of the game just called Flanker ... I seem to remember a very early Rapocha class of ship that was basically a floating box, the aircraft were all 512 x 512 standard skins and it really was poor quality compared to todays game. Its come a long way I'm delighted to say. -

Submitting mods to ED for DCS core implementation
crazyeddie replied to sirrah's topic in DCS Modding
Years ago I asked ED to add more statics to the core game, to give us more variety in the ME, I asked several times over many years. Nothing much ever came of that request, so I did my own mod (using their stuff) and uploaded it to the site. This is all stuff that they could easily add, 95% of it is their own stuff from current and earlier versions of the game, a lot of it repainted to suit my own particular taste but everything can be repainted again to add new or different liveries, if you have the skills to do it. Static building are easy to do and dont break to game when its updated, by statics you could also include any number of vehicles as well, anything that is just eye candy isnt going to do any harm. I have collected mountains of it over the years, some is good, much of it is crap, I pick and chose what I want to improve my experience. I only uploaded my static buildings mod to the site because people kept asking for an update, so I redid it for 2.7. Thats my experience in this game, and I first came here when it was called Falcon - that was way back in the day when the flight characteristics (or FM as its now known) for the jets was similar to a house brick being dropped from a tall building - yep - that good !!! Knowing what I know from past experience with ED I would never entertain any further attempts to have it included in the game, I follow that ancient soldiers principal, identify the problem, work out a solution and overcome it. Each update brings new problems - apply the principal and get on with enjoying it. I use JSGME, simple to use and set up, I remove all my mods from the game before I update and re-apply when its done, works a treat. Stuff in your Saved Games folder can be more problematic if you have an issue but you soon get to know what might be causing it, strip them out one by one until you find it, then fix it. https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3321755/ -
MBT M1A2 Abrams lua file.
crazyeddie replied to edenstudio's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
If you can find somebody who made a copy of the original lua file before they encoded it then theoretically you could create an M1 mod from that using the in game edm and texture files. Not an easy thing to do without some experience, but a good place to learn how it all works. I do not have an uncoded lua for the M1. -
Submitting mods to ED for DCS core implementation

ED have never really encouraged 'user mods' as such, I think it would be fair to say they tolerate them simply because they have very little control over what people do on their own computers. I do recollect how some 'user mods' suddenly stopped working because of changes to the game - changes that appeared to be needed for any variety of reasons but changes that broke a mod, sometimes permanently. Creating 'user mods' can be a fun, I have loads of my own, but once you put them out there for general use you are wide open to years of grief and complaints when the game changes and the mod goes 'tits up' - I have the full collection of T Shirts on that one !!! Getting ED to include a 'user mod' into the game is fraught with other problems, as many have found, I can think of several really good mods that didnt survive that experience or fell by the wayside whilst climbing the greasy pole !. It is what it is, their game, their rules, get used to that and you can still enjoy yourself without struggling to navigate the official mod route. If you want fame and fortune then you have to be ready to take the knocks. ps: I should have added that a few 'user mods' have found their way into the game over the years, and flourished, it isn't all doom and gloom ... no doubt others will disagree with me but I'm too old in the tooth to argue. -
Excellent mod, been using your Caucasus Tree mod for ages and that is excellent as well, many thanks.

Any Good Ground Object Mods Out There!
crazyeddie replied to JOEM423's topic in Static/AI Mods for DCS World
It is a separate Mod, completely separate from my Buildings Mod. I will check it all works in 2.7 as I did with the buildings Mod before I release it and it will be in a very similar format, so converting it to JSGME or OvGME should be a simple process for you guys. I found a couple more vehicles I forgot to add to the images, SA2 trailer for the TZ and some odd things like a BTR and a Tigr which I had to remove from original maps. I also just noticed there is a brand new Laz 695 bus in game, a new edm, might do a few more liveries for that as well. -

I mentioned I also have a HUGE "eye candy" vehicles mod made in a similar way - mostly ED models that I have removed from the game maps where they were placed and could not be moved or covered over, so I had to get them back into the game by creating static versions of them so that I could place them where I wanted them and not where the map dictated. In the process I also added new liveries for some of them. The whole purpose of the mod was to get all the vehicles I wanted to add to my maps of airfields in one place in the drop downs and not have to go trawling all over the ME to find them ... and in doing that I also added all the vehicles from other peoples Mods as well - the mod went from LARGE to IMMENSE very quickly as you can imagine !! Clearly I cant pass all of this stuff on to you, they are not mine to pass on. Here are some images of what is in there, I still need to confirm that I can pass some of these on and when I have done that I will update the Mad and you can have it, warts and all. That will take a while, I cannot remember where some of this stuff came from and whilst I think its all legal I need to make as sure as I can, I'm not planning to piss anyone off !!! -

That last building is one done by Hawkeye a long time ago, it was amongst several other models that I didnt use and there were issues with it in 2.7 which I had to resolve by changes to the texture files - I missed one out when I updated the file - here it is. I will add it to the Mod, thanks. Al_Arab_SAS_srvc.dds -

ADMIRAL189'S CORNER - INCOMING SHIP MODELS

Admiral - The black hull line at the back of the Sacramento - is it meant to rise upwards out of the water like that. All the images I see have it parallel with the sea level. -

Okay, it's done. I removed some vehicle type items from it to allow it to fit into the upload site. Most of the buildings I have done have new roofs, and a few of them are red in colour. The texture files are all in there, you can paint them any colour you want. I also have a huge Static Vehicles MOD made in a very similar way, mainly ED vehicles that are not in the drop downs (or were not at the time when I did it years ago now !!) plus a few others that I have acquired over the years - all repainted or tarted up in some way, with liveries etc. I may sort that out at some time and post that as well.
