I really hope they at least get in to the Huey limitations. Not having limitations vs having them really changes how it's flown.

We have a member who owns a L39 and is, obviously, type rated in it. He would probably be a better source than most here. I'll give him a link to this post.

Operation "Blue Flag" - 24/7 PvP Campaign - ROUND 9

Server has been down for a couple of hours. Is anyone around to get it up and running again? -
The only issue with Flight Model
BSS_Sniper replied to Alfredson007's topic in DCS: Spitfire L.F. Mk. IX
Only airspeed is going to change the lift when you reduce the throttle, if nothing else is changed. One thing my group has noticed is that when you reduced the throttle, the plane wants to yaw to the left, the same as when you add throttle. That's fine and correct when adding power due to torque and other factors, but definitely shouldn't be happening when reducing power. -
The Flaming Cliffs planes just need to be gone, removed from DCS and replaced with full fidelity modules. They really shouldn't be mixed in with the "DCS level" aircraft imo.

I have always figured that the negative G, engine flame out thing wasn't quite right. Most jets have a collector tank that allow for this.

This has already been confirmed about the IFF radio equipment put in place of the center tank and I'm just going by what was stated by ED after it was brought up after release. It doesn't really matter however. What does matter is the weight of the center tank or iff radio equipment throwing the CG aft. Anyone familiar with the P51 knows you don't fight with the weight behind the seat, either with fuel in the tank if it's there or the IFF equipment which throws the CG too far back and makes it a dog to fight in. This has nothing to do with my stick which happens to be a warthog nor my technique since I fly for a living. I also fly with quite a few other pilots in my group who all happen to be current military pilots, retired military pilots or current professional civil pilots. If it was just me saying this I'd wonder, but it's not.

Maybe if they had ground vehicles attacking as well. Having only air to air to defend would be a boring air quake. -
Operation "Blue Flag" - 24/7 PvP Campaign - ROUND 9

That was worded much better than I did myself. Watered down is a good description. I will say that it's fun to have the A10 on red, but like you said, it waters it down. Each side has it's own capabilities that both have pros and cons. That's the fun and more realistic side of it for me. Having said that, I get that it's not that way for everyone, although I don't understand it since you can join the side that has the aircraft you prefer. I view this the same way I'd view, lets say IL2 Battle of Moscow. In there, if you have all aircraft on both sides, it's always viewed as a joke of a server. I know we're limited here in selection of aircraft so some compromises need to be made, but only with one or two aircraft, not all. In the end, as long as it's not every round, I'm flexible. No matter what you do, the sides are going to be lopsided at different times of the day. I will say this, maybe a bit off topic; if ED doesn't figure out a way to make the full fidelity Russian counterparts, I have my doubts about DCS being headed in any positive direction. It's going to be a dead end. May as well call it NATO Strike or something. lol -
Operation "Blue Flag" - 24/7 PvP Campaign - ROUND 9
BSS_Sniper replied to gregzagk's topic in Multiplayer
Red doesn't need the A10. As I suspected, as soon as it was added, that test round lasted roughly 2.5 days. lol The fact of the matter is that the sides are never going to be balanced with players. At certain times of the day blue outnumbers red. At other times, although more rare, red will out number blue. For a long time red hasn't needed the numbers or the A10 to push against blue. I get that some people want to fly the A10, but to them I say, fly blue. The more we add the same aircraft to both sides, the more generic this becomes. I already know that in the beginning blueflag had the same exact aircraft on both sides. I wouldn't mind, although I wouldn't prefer it, if it was something that happened sometimes. I however, was drawn to blueflag for realism as best as we can have it here and that means given the aircraft available and as much as possible, keeping the Russian and nato aircraft separated. I get the transport helis being on both sides. It's already hard to get people to fly those. The Mirage is fine too since the missiles red has to use are awful. Now I'm just blathering on. lol OH well... -
You don't need a separate PTT for each radio in the ka50. You have to use a rotary to switch to the radio you want to transmit on, in the cockpit. Even in the FC3 aircraft, there's no reason to use a separate PTT for each radio. Just set a hotkey for "common PTT" and then click on the radio you want to transmit on, on the popup window.

Considering buying Ka-50 but having concerns
BSS_Sniper replied to -Martin-'s topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
You obviously haven't met Reaper. He's probably the top Ka50 driver in game given that he has a full home ka50 cockpit, is basically the local SME and shoots down F15's in blueflag on a regular basis. He's authored quite a few tutorials in this subforum as well. -
This. No idea where you'd get that from. Crew Chiefs are maintainers, they are not flight school drop outs. They didn't go to flight school. They don't just check fluid levels. They perform the maintenance on the engine and airframe. They are the equivalent of a civilian A&P. In flight crew chiefs act as a door gunner.

Operation "Blue Flag" - 24/7 PvP Campaign - ROUND 9
BSS_Sniper replied to gregzagk's topic in Multiplayer
OH man, A10C's on red? At this point, we may as well have exactly the same thing on both sides. -
Well, yes you do need to tune in the correct frequency. By default the Ka50 is on 124.0 FM. 126 is the one most often used in BF on the red side. You also need to remember to turn the volume up in the cockpit. Then Helicopters use 30, channel 5, on the second radio if they're using a separate radio for comms. That also has to be turned up in the cockpit. When changing frequencies on the second radio, the one on the right, you have to press and hold the button to the right of the volume knob. A light will come on and go out, then you can use that frequency.

I'm not going to talk about how it's done, but we know it's there. That's really the only point I was trying to make and that no one should be whining about the Su33. -

You're still ignoring the fact that blue can reset their lives so I'm not sure why you're still stuck on anything concerning the Su33... -
Operation "Blue Flag" - 24/7 PvP Campaign - ROUND 9
BSS_Sniper replied to gregzagk's topic in Multiplayer
Maybe it was that way before round 5 or 6. That's when I started and I've never seen the exact same aircraft on both sides. The realism and challenge of it is what drew me and a lot of people to BF. If this ends up going to an arcade, same planes on both sides thing, we may as well go to the 104th imo. From what I can tell, most of the regular red veterans don't care about Blue having more people on the team. We still push when there are less of us. It seems like, for the most part, the people that are complaining about balance are the once that rarely show up. -
Operation "Blue Flag" - 24/7 PvP Campaign - ROUND 9
BSS_Sniper replied to gregzagk's topic in Multiplayer
I absolutely agree. I HATE that we are using a lot of the same aircraft on both sides. It's getting closer and closer to just being one of those more arcade servers with the same exact aircraft to choose from on both sides. The one thing I don't mind too much is that the transport helis are on both since its already hard to find people to do that mission and limiting one or the other to one side makes it even worse. I'd still be fine however, having the huey on blue and the mi8 on red. -
Operation "Blue Flag" - 24/7 PvP Campaign - ROUND 9
BSS_Sniper replied to gregzagk's topic in Multiplayer
Stacked? Get out of here with that. For a very long time, much, much longer than the Su33 has been in BF, the blue side has been able to reset their lives. I won't get into how it's done but it can be done and people do it. Stack the deck. lol You guys have every ground attack aircraft on top of your being able to reset lives. You, for some reason, probably whining, lol even had to get the Su25 even though you have the A10, can save target coordinates and barely try and still take farps or airfields in minutes. The only side that's stacked with aircraft, lives and people is blue. If you truly think red is stacked because of the Su33, you're doing something wrong. -

Just having random sams would be more gamey than it's already becoming. If you want sams "out in the wild", have your team set them up with the helicopters. -

BSS_Sniper replied to gregzagk's topic in Multiplayer
That's the problem with just getting on simple radio. Get on TS, find out what the team is doing, who is doing which part and what the team needs you to do. Then you'll go over to simple radio for your flight/mission. This post highlights exactly why you can't just get on simple radio alone, especially new guys. -
I started 15-20 years ago with a MS FFB 2. Eventually I bought an X45 and used the throttle in conjunction with the FFB2. I jumped way ahead way later down the road into the Warthog. I truly do miss my FFB but if you're thinking of moving into a hotas and going to spend a couple of hundred on a X52 or something...you may as well save a little more and go with the warthog. You won't regret it.
