  1. My experience so far has strongly led me to believe the only real option in the M-2000C is to fly very defensively and fight your way to the merge. The AI do things that real players will probably know better, and all fast movers in the sim with exception to the MiG 21 and upcoming F-5 enjoy a total advantage against the M2000 in most engagements that lead off with BVR. Better to be sneaky and try to make it to the merge. I basically fly the M2000 very similar to how I flew the MiG 21, but with the luxury of better SA
  2. Maybe the author has extremely slow internet and the upload is taking most of a year? LOL. Nothing would surprise me these days
  3. The only right answer here is both, my friend, but if you can only get one for the time being, i would go with the consensus for the Mirage
  4. If other countries do indeed flip the colors of the ADI that could get really ugly for a western pilot in IFR! LOL. That being said I think the ADI may have just tumbled upside down with the gyro being off and no power applied to avionics
  5. All I know is I can't wait to do all the above in the F-5E while using my Rift. Going to be awesome
  6. Sad to say you are totally missing out!
  7. I'll be there with you, lots of fun to be had in that match up. I even decided to hold a special grudge match event for when it launches, should be a blast. Agree with your last statement as well, I think the Tiger fits the Cold War era of DCS very well
  8. Out of curiosity what aircraft was being used before the F-5?
  9. In fairness, the one complete Trainer, the L-39C and ZA is very deserving of a place in DCS, and the other two set the stage very poorly and remain in a bad state sadly. That being said I think the F-5 fits the DCS roster very nicely considering how many host countries use it
  10. Please maintain a positive and sporting attitude! All aircraft will be allowed to access any weapon available for it, as this event will test the full capabilities of the aircraft involved (the lone exception to this is the RN series nuclear weapons for the MiG) All players will be using the same label and realism settings to facilitate a fair environment. All players will be allowed to choose a team, but must stick with that team and airframe until event completion. Both teams will have the option of destroying the enemy by running the other team out of respawns, or a risky strike to destroy their base. Both bases, for the sake of fairness, will be protected with identical equipment. Both teams will be advised of the enemy base location, however the "fog of war" will prevent any further knowledge beyond that. Both teams WILL be equipped with an AWACS, however the AWACS is a viable target. Allowing the enemy team to destroy your AWACS will result is a loss of SA! VICTORY CONDITIONS: A team will achieve match victory of the following is achieved- 1. The opposing team runs out of "Team Lives" meaning their airfield no longer has any reapawn aircraft remaining. Each airfield will be equipped with the same amount of aircraft. This amount will be announced in the pre match briefing 2. Destruction of enemy airfield. Both airfields will be protected by comparable equipment, and will have a matching number of "Critical Targets" The match can be won by attempting a strike or multiple strikes, however the airfield is well defended and the enemy will have the advantage when attacking the airfield. 11. Good post, no rant detected :) I agree with you on all points and you do raise some good advantages of the Tiger v. the Fishbed. Can't wait to see how it plays out!
  12. I'm actually planning several Skoshi Tiger missions for my Co-op squadrons, it's a great scenario! I have a Vietnam mod pack I put together with Starways Vietnam textures, and Vietnam skins for many aircraft including the P-51, so the F-5 will fit right in! I know the Skoshi Tigers did CAS, Strike, and limited MiG CAP, all things I see the Tiger doing well
  13. Also for those interested I will be releasing a day 1 armamanet expansion to the F-5E Tiger once it is out. This mod will be aimed at expanding load outs to include things such as MER 5 and 6 Mk 82 racks on the wing pylons per several source photos of the F-5A, as well as adding some other weapons.
  14. No problem! Hope you enjoy it! It really expands the aircrafts ability in a believable way, as many of these weapons have been used or could be with little issue. I've easily wiped entire convoys off the map with the beefed up L-39ZA :)
  15. With the Tiger hopefully days away, I thought I would make a thread talking a bit about how the various mission builders and such will be using the new plane. I think the F-5 is a really interesting bird, in that it was aimed at being a light and simple fighter first, and as such fits into a rather unusual role. Although the word "fighter" is used to describe the F-5, I suspect it the real aircraft has done significantly more ground attack than air to air duties in its long service life. Even though the Tiger is being pitted against the MiG 21 as a natural match up, I must admit I think the MiG, along with all the other air to air capable aircraft in the sim (aside from CAS airfcraft) will enjoy a significant advantage over the Tiger, so I see myself putting it to work as a fast attack light strike aircraft in my missions. I've used the M2000 in similar roles with a lot of success, and the nice thing is a fast mover can jump right into the role of protecting on station dedicated CAS after dumping it's ordinance How do you see yourself using the Tiger?
  16. I think the story is a simple case of exaggeration. It is clear the Viggen could probably not perform such a maneuver.
  17. Bump- Updated mod today per popular request- See first post as attachment is up to date.
  18. I'm using the L-39 to blow people's mind with the Oculus Rift :) I have two rigs set up next to eachother- I fly on a monitor on the right and the passenger sits under the rift on my other PC on the left. Tried with the wife and a friend and they were both blown away
  19. I LOVE both versions of this bird, but I was REALLY enjoying the L. I strapped on my Oculus, fired up the SA342L and laid waste to a convoy. Looking down and right and seeing that big 20mm looking like it is really there is awesome Awesome and fast work, Polychop!
  20. No maximum deployment speed, just a remain attached speed :D
  21. Outstanding! Is the ECM pod functioning now btw? I haven't gotten around to checking but I know it was bugged for a long time
  22. Trust me, I know, as everyone here should recognize, that Polychop doesn't make garbage. The Gazelle is an outstanding release and while the FM needs tweaks I for one am already a huge fan. Sorry this thread is getting messy, I think some of the things said in here could have been said differently or not at all, but Polychop expressing that they will continue to work to make the FM as good as possible is certainly good enough for me.
  23. Zaelu, the first paragraph of your post is frankly insulting and indicative of a lot of the problems that occur on these boards. The devs have never said the FM is perfect by any stretch and have expressed on multiple occasions that tweaks will continue, but even the current flight model is very impressive and representative of the real aircraft when flown within a realistic envelope. I too am a rotary wing and fixed wing real world pilot, and my impressions of the Gazelle from the start has been very positive. Before you critique the flight model for not being realistic when you try to do X, ask yourself what sane pilot who even remotely valued his life would even attempt X!!! It isn't even realistic to attempt these maneuvers, so give the devs time to get around to adding the correct behavior in frankly rediculous ragimes of flight...
  24. Thus is very true. Most of us had the Viggen pegged after that early clue. It's a long road, but it'll be worth it guys LNS has indeed picked a strange approach to the Viggen product, pretty much the total opposite of traditional marketing strategy would dictate, and even though that will probably mean less sales for them they are willing to trade that for an epic reveal I reckon
  25. The Flanker can make a mess of things if done right! I like loading her down with all those FAB 100s and carpet bombing stuff all to hell! The Viggens BK 90 is a game changer. Heck of a standoff weapon and is able to do some things other weapon systems in DCS just can't do.
