  1. So glad i was proven right, at least with these conclusions, that even the 780 non-ti (a 3 year old card) is still faster than pretty much anything amd has... at least at less than 4k...(only 3gb vram) ati fanboys read'em & weep lol and yeah i use a sandy 2600K at 4.6ghz, newer cpus are more efficiant(power and heat), and have more pci-e lanes, but they aren't really much faster per clock, and can't overclock as well...
  2. because a working pair of 70 year old engines with, when they were brand new, a few hours life expectancy... is kinda amazing in itself....
  3. yes, of course it is, the throttle and stick on the X-55 are two seperate controllers, each with their own usb, unlike on the X-52, where the stick is actually an extention of the throttle.
  4. Don't use the madcatz software, it's pretty bad, just set up the controls in-game...

    Radar IFF

it doesn't change the fact that if this plane is going to get bought to be used for casual multiplayer, on servers like 104th, like FC3 planes or the mig-21, IFF is really important.

    Radar IFF

No IFF means only scripted missions unless they fix AWACS, no multiplayer on mixed planes servers, like 104th... a good portion of DCS players don't like playing scripted, can look in the brief/mission editor and find the exact paths all the planes in the entire mission will fly, before you even get to the cockpit type missions.

    Radar IFF

Real or not, people are going to go online and shoot down a butt ton of friendlies and not give a crap about looking to see if it's friendly or not, the way DCS's LOD system works, it's impossible to id someone by the mk.1 eyeball from any distance except directly beside someone, so IFF is really more of a necessity, if you want a plane to be popular online in dogfight servers, not just in set up scenarios. sometimes you just have to say "screw realism" and this is one of those times. the way it is in the fc3 planes or the mig-21
  9. spilled milk and all that.... it's getting pretty old people whining about not being told when a developer has just took a dump, so that it put something or another's development 10 minutes more behind schedule.... 3rd party developers for DCS seem to be, for the most part, doing dcs stuff as side projects, to learn, and/or because they love what they do... that being the case, harping on them all the time is going to have the opposite effect that you're looking for. it doesn't really matter that you pay 60$ for a single plane in dcs, the volume of sales in dcs, combined with how many people that 60$ ends up being spread around to, means dcs isn't really a bread winners dream...

  11. as far as missiles are concerned, the aim-9L is in an entirely different league from the r-13m1 (aim-9J/G mix), but since a mig and viggen would only ever meet wvr, I bet they are pretty damn close in a fight, good match up. from what I read... they both have nearly the same range, climb rate, and top speed, but the viggen is way heavier and has a more powerful engine, so I suspect the viggen will keep its energy longer, and accelerate slower. edit: mig-21 with drop tanks, viggen clean, same range...
  12. if you want your plane to stay on the runway and not try to veer off, hold your stick back all the way with the tailwheel locked till you hit 150kph, the tail wheel will hold your plane strait, if you don't hold your stick back, the tail wheel won't have enough grip on the runway to help keep you strait, you will still need some rudder and differential braking to keep it strait, but its more than manageable.
  13. R60M is better than the R-13M1 at ~4KM R-13M1 is better than the R60M at ~7KM... R3R is the only useful front aspect missile... best loadout is 2x R3R and 2x R13M1 for max range kills... if you want a higher chance of a hit, and don't care about having to get probably within 4km, then R60Ms instead. but it's always good to carry some R3R's in case you end up head-on unnoticed.

    M2000 vs Mig-21

in a controlled environment, with two equal pilots, one in a more modern plane and the other in a mig-21, where both players know where each other are, in flat open terrain, the mig-21 stands no chance ...versus basically anything... it's an interceptor first and foremost, you play sneaky ninja with it, and try to get kills without being noticed, stay down low, always looking up. There's a reason the mig-21 has a good thrust to weight ratio, use it. that being said, the challenge of not dying makes every kill you get that much sweeter, only noobs let themselves use the best of the best.
  15. I don't think it's so much "what one is better" but more like... what one is better in what situation, against what planes, or in realism, or in quality, there are lots of different things that can be better or worse for different reasons... I'd say to get the mig-21 now, because it's a known quantity, everyone knows it's a high quality module and worth every penny and then once the M2000C comes, and we can see it for ourselves, then buy it. Assuming one has to choose between one or the other right now, as in today, that's the logical choice. that way you don't have to wait months to play with a new toy, and by then can probably afford the m2000c.

  17. the X-55 and warthog are totally different, the x-55 is worth 200$, its cheap, but works and has a crap ton of axis and buttons... the warthog is beefier, better quality, but not as many axis or buttons, expensive. I have an X-55, it works fine for me, I'm thinking about buying the warthog, but not 100% sure yet, since I'm not sure I could play DCS with less buttons and axis (without using shift/mode buttons)
  18. you can have 4x R60 and 4x R60M, 8 missiles in total, but you can't have 8x R60 or 8x R60M... it makes absolutely no sense, but that's how it works.
  19. ATI has better performance per dollar, nvidia has better performance, and drivers, and heat management, and are often quieter, especially with OEM coolers, if price isn't an issue nvidia is really better, ati is just better per dollar. basically anything better than a 970 is better than anything ati has.
  20. itss because of how dcs loads in models and textures, the 21 is pretty big even though it's such a little plane in-game, so it takes a while to load in everything.
  21. yeah I want to play dcs but im stuck on an update screen downloading for an hour and only 71mb downloaded... I have a 100mbit download speed... this is just stupid it's only a 1gb update, that should take like a few minutes at the most.

  23. I use my radar to find distance, since I need to iff, and that requires the radar anyway, no I don't use awacs or anything like that, I just know where the enemy is coming from, and where he'll be going. Make liberal use of the radar and mk.1 eyeball
  24. click the link in my sig, if you watch enough of my videos you should get a decent idea of how I do it, I won't say it's the best way, certainly not the only way, but it works, and it's fun.
