  1. Ready room / relaxing room with PLAT camera for MP? Can we all meetup in VR too? Sounds cool.... I'd pay money for that.;)
  2. Make sure this is not bound to something in the UI Layer controls.
  3. Make sure this is not bound to something in the UI Layer controls.
  4. The way I like to say it is to fly down and slow down. Don't stop and drop. Especially from a good height, that takes to long and that's when you will descend to fast. Watch the decent rate like the others have said. If you try it you can fly down real fast, then slow up and land. With practice you can really throw this bird around. I've done my fair share of sling loading in this bird and it teaches you a lot about what not to do lol.
  5. Can you tell us a bit more about your pc. Like no overclock on GPU, DCS can be funny if you overclock it. It can also be funny if it's a factory overclocked card. Also, How about your cpu, Overclocked? Are the temps ok when playing large missions? What are you playing. Multiplayer or large single mission. Does this happen only in VR Edit What nvidia drivers are you using. Edit(432) Windows forced driver Rift software updated Perhaps try a different driver, not at home right now to see which one I'm still on, check later. Try the latest 441.66 perhaps. If you are still having problems it might be good to do a driver clean install using driver uninstaller ddu Then also delete the contents out of fxo and metashaders2 folders in Saved games C:\Users\YOUR USER NAME\Saved Games\DCS.openbeta or (stable) \metashaders2 and fxo
  6. What version are you on? What version are they on? That's where I would start I guess.
  7. Welcome to the forum RacingMik Take a look at this recent post by BitMaster (3600/3600X/3700X CPU with a moderate B450 board) To give you some idea about performance. I run a 1080ti, this can hold 60fps on high settings at 1440p. Many here lock the sim to 60 to smooth out track ir panning. If you can, grab the 2070 super or better for 1440p and should be good for 60 fps on mostly high settings. Under this card and I would stay at 1080p personally. https://gpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Nvidia-RTX-2070S-Super-vs-Nvidia-GTX-1080-Ti/4048vs3918
  8. Your just setting a fixed size for the drive to use. In your case not often with 64 GB of ram. Your system would run without one, NOT recommended. Some found it better to set one. Here's a post with screenshots of it set that helped some online. For example Others set them to small and the sim will crash (It's set in MB)
  9. I don't go that far into it with msi, don't need to as I'm locked all the time at 60 fps for track ir and can hold that max settings on one of the largest servers @1440p. I only use VR for messing about. Don't like keeping it on for to long. Case 1's are fun now and then. I don't think the 7700 @4 x 5Ghz would be a bottle neck for DCS with the 1080ti, perhaps some other multi-core games yes or until DCS gets vulkan fully implemented and can use all the cores with a battle of 1000s of units. The setup and cost is not need for me from where I stand. Also waiting for the next real step up in VR. Then I might build a new complete rig from the ground up. This was also about the OP and 6 cores. Just showing what you can still do with 4 Edit That was just a quick desktop screen record. I use action for full screen and vr https://mirillis.com/en/products/action.html
  10. Yep, That was for the first startup training mission. You will need to do this for the rest and find the flags. (X:START WAIT USER RESPONSE 999, XX) This is just calling the spacebar xx is the flag to turn on for the mission to continue. I.E Spacebar pressed Flag 4 on (For an example) Save the mission in Your mission folder so they don't get updated and you will also have the original as backup if you mess it up.
  11. Try this Air force break C.W Lemoine (Mover) He go's right over a FAM flight like if you were in the Air force. His flown the T38, F/A-18 and F-16. Now also fly's a civi sky bus. Starts at 20:50
  12. Whatever ED is doing it's working better from what I can see. Quick test Need to test with a large mission with plenty of AI and scripts to really test the single core I guess... F-14 take off Nellis Max Settings @1440p Stock GPU clock Plus MSAA x 4 SSAA x 2 30 fps Min pre set Settings @1080p Stock GPU clock 130+ fps
  13. DCS will use the cores. You just don't need anymore than 4 for DCS right now as far as I can see and some good ghz. I can saturate a 1080to or 20880ti with the 7700 Tested dropping back a core to 3 using process lasso and DCS does not like it at all. Quick test for the other thread about VR. Watch Hardware monitor. No Hyper threading on. Only 4 cores Jump to 0:35 then full screen
  14. Yep, I'm not paying double the $ for a 2080ti to get maybe 25% more power just to lower it down back to 60fps because it cannot hold 120 stable. Not that concerned about selling it either, this will be a backup rig or server when I do my next full upgrade. What I have now is a good match and all works very well together.
  15. Bit on the low end blkbeltolson for VR in DCS old gen cpu old DDR3 ram You need to run on the lowest settings. I.E view distance to low and pre load radius to 20 etc. You need to hold 45 fps. DCS is one of the hardest to run in VR. It was not built from the ground up for VR, it's still one of the best experience tho. Even with a 1080ti I have to pull settings back to hold a smooth 45 fps in the big city's with max eye candy turned on.
  16. You must be the only one here that has the spacebar problem tho? Did you try the windows onscreen keyboard? All you need is to add is the flags I show in post 4 above. Flags (4, 27, 33, 37) These are the flag the designer used for the spacbar command. The first one at the start of the mission is flag 4. If you turn this to on it will just keep going. Just add a new trigger (Call it no spacbar) On mission start Add the action Flag 4 on Flag 27 on Flag 33 on Flag 37 on This will then bypass the spacbar when you run the training mission. Save the mission to Your mission folder as a copy so it doesn't get updated. All I did is when through the mission looking at what flag ED set for the spacbar. Now I know this you can do what ever you like with these 4 flags to set them to on. Like adding them to the in game radio menu or add a timer etc, this will take some more effort and to dig through steps in the mission and find the related flags the mission design used for x. Wait for x, wait for x and is flag true etc etc. The easy way if you know nothing about the DCS editor / scripting. Is to just turn the (flags on) and just pause the sim if needed. Buy a keyboard or try the onscreen spacebar the one built into windows.
  17. I'm waiting too just like Pilotasso. Not worth the upgrading from 1080ti to 2080ti, so I'm waiting for the 30 series cards too. Plus all the problems here with the 2080ti, more back when they first released.
  18. That's not possible and would be a 50+ video series of hundreds of combinations of how you could go about doing something in the editor. You are scripting / programming here. There is no lineal straight line path here to get x done. Whatever x is. https://wiki.hoggitworld.com/view/DCS_editor_triggerBasics https://wiki.hoggitworld.com/view/DCS_editor_actions You just need a very basic understanding of the logic that can be used here, there is many ways to get X done and you cannot do a video on each condition and action. Well you would be doing it for a very very longtime. Here is a very quick bit silly mission I put together showing something thing you could do out of 1000s of possibilities with making missions. I might do another one linking many silly things together just so others can see the scope of what just the editor in DCS allows you to create. Just learn some basic logic that the mission editor can do and there are many video's around for that. Then build your own and learn a little bit of the logic. Then you will understand how someone else built their mission using the available tools. The mission designer is free to use these tools in any way he feels. These is no, this is done like this and always like this. Start with the Game PDF manual page 80 found C:Program FilesEagle DynamicsDCS World OpenBetaDoc DCS User Manual EN.pdf Start at page 80 Set Triggers QUOTE Set Triggers "An important part of making a good mission is the ability to script actions during the mission that lead to a more immersive experience for the player. By setting actions that respond to the player and other AI units in an intelligent manner, the simulated battlefield can have a much more interactive and interesting environment. Such actions could be the activation of units, text, and voice messages, or setting a flag state. The conditions that are used to trigger such actions can range from units going in and out of defined areas of the map, units being destroyed or damaged, specified times, flag states, and even random states. Using these tools and an active imagination, you can create your own engaging missions that no automatic mission generator can match. The missions and campaigns use the same scripting system. The trigger system is not an "event" type system, but rather a "condition" type system; this means that a trigger does not occur when something occurs, but rather when a condition becomes TRUE. Setting a trigger condition is a three step process:" END QUOTE Page 99 Trigger Practical Exercise Now that we have reviewed the mechanics of the Trigger system, we will create a basic mission using trigger scripting. In this mission, we will do the following: 1. Player will fly to battle area, and when nearing this area, friendly artillery will bombard an enemy position. 2. As the player flies closer, they will receive a Forward Air Controller message about tasked targeting. 3. When the player destroys enemy armor in the target area, friendly ground forces will advance. 4. When friendly forces reach their objective, they will radio the player of a successful mission. The first thing we will do is set up the Zone triggers. So, I will create three different trigger zones, and I will call these Start Artillery, FAC Message, and Mission Success. I will set the TYPE as ONCE for each of them.
  19. This comes down to the mission builder and HIS way of going through HIS mission and the way he wants to organize the flow. This flag on do x, Flag 1, 2, 3 ,4 Flag value 1, 2, 3 ,4 It's all up to you and or the mission builder what they want to do. This starts with an idea and an excel spreadsheet or paper. To record the flags for when the mission gets huge and your at flag 133. What does flag 54 do again? Why isn't that working when I run this mission, it should do X. The editor is just s simple step logic. Once? Or just at the start? Condition? (In a trigger zone etc) Action (What action do you want) Turn on XX sam, tank, tank to drive down the road and storm base, artillery to fire at, Endless etc. It's coding / scripting logic, that is all. The editor is very high level and low on some logic options.(if else, do while) round triggers only etc. Many get around this using the scripting language Lua and all the API's available in the sim. ED uses lua all the time to control core files to suit xxx. Take a look at. C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World OpenBeta\Mods\aircraft\A-10C\Cockpit\Scripts\HUD\Indicator HUD_definitions.lua Some play with this file to change the text in the hud for example. There are still many limitations in the editor. That's why things like MIST and MOOSE where build and are updated by many. These guy's have build standard usable functions in lua that you can use to expand mission. These can be scripted completely out side of the editor and run on mission start. MIssion Scripting Tools (Mist) https://wiki.hoggitworld.com/view/Mission_Scripting_Tools_Documentation MOOSE https://www.lua.org/about.html As you can see this is a very DEEP rabbit hole into the world of scripting / coding. I started a thread building a simple mission using some triggers to help people get started playing with the in built editor logic and later will end with some basic MOOSE scripting. Just start by look at the available logic in the editor that you can use to do XXX and like Rudel_chw has said there are many way to do XX and it's good to write down good ideas.;)
  20. I took a look at the first startup A-10C training mission. There are only 4 entries of (X:START WAIT USER RESPONSE 999, XX) XX are just flags to turn on. Tell the training to keep going. Add the 4 flags at mission start and it will just continue. (4, 27, 33, 37) Use pause to STOP if you want when training if needed. You will need to go through all the missions and find these and save them to the MY MISSIONS folder, otherwise these missions will get updated when the sim is updated. The other way is you could jump them through the radio other menu. The easy quick way is to just pause the sim.
  21. Never seen the spacebar not working? Strange... Have you tried renaming your dcs saved games folder? DCS.OLD etc. That way you can be sure you haven't bound it to a different key. Check in the UI layer keyboard section too. DCS will build a new one and you can copy back controls etc from the old file if that works. Have you tried the on-screen keyboard spacebar? Worked for me. If you generally know how to use the A-10C or others but it's been awhile. I just glance back over Chucks guides. Setup a small mission in the editor and practice each thing I need to refresh. GBU's, CBU's, Rockets, A2A, Mark points etc. As long as you no spi, soi and what DMS, TMS do you should pick it back up fairly quickly.
  22. With the 2070 Only expect lite / med duty's in VR with DCS (DCS was not made for VR like the store games) Pull back the pre load radius to 30 - 40 and vis range to medium, this lifted the GPU to 90% to 100% utilization for the quick test I did and held 45 fps with high graphic settings on the 1080ti For a mission I possibly need to dial it back more, this is with a PD of 1.6 standard rift. In a small free flight mission. Testing a few settings to get a smooth low city flight. It's about smoothing it out and having a nice steady smooth stream. Variation is what causes stuttering. I.E hold 45 no matter what your doing or where your flying etc. Negatives in the headroom here and a few little dips to 38 fps as see in the video. Quick video low flying at the Gulf, showing oculus diagnostics, Open Hardware Monitor and Msi. This is still not a mission with lots of Ai, this was just to fine the settings to be sort of smooth here in a large city with max eye-candy, it would be close tho for a medium size mission at a "steady" 45 fps. Once away from the city possibly. https://developer.oculus.com/documentation/pcsdk/latest/concepts/dg-debug-tool/ Oculus Debug Tool: Go to Program FilesOculusSupportoculus-diagnosticsOculusDebugTool.exe Tun on (Visible HUD) = Performance. To see this when playing. 1080ti has around 20%...ish on the 2070 depending on game. https://gpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Nvidia-RTX-2070-vs-Nvidia-GTX-1080-Ti/4029vs3918
  23. Hi Formski, Check with msi afterburner or windows task manger if you are hitting the limit of (1 Core) of your CPU. DDR-3 / 2133Mhz is also a bit slow for the 2080ti I'm guessing here. Not this extreme below tho, you are possibly missing out on 15% or so of your 2080ti etc. "but the video card is often sitting at 65-70% use" Check GPU vs CPU with msi afterburner to see. EDIT It's also in the optimization that ED is working on. I was only getting 70% GPU and low cpu. This was on the ramp at Nellis AFB in the F/A-18 and seeing 40 fps in the rift @ 1.6 PD High graphic settings to really test it, msaa x2. View distance to high. Not playable at this, I generally roll back just a few settings like shadows med etc, to hold a solid 45 all the time. All I know when it comes to VR every little thing helps. It will cost tho, for that little bit more.
  24. Yes, See my post one page back Post 3 I explain how you can check / see it for yourself.
