  1. The APG-71 could have used AMRAAM with a software push. AWG-9 was another beast altogether. They used the money for the F-14B upgrade and JDAM capability instead.
  2. Verify your loadouts for your mission support aircraft. The F-18s in mission 5 have 4 GBU-12 and 4 JSOW- doesnt fit the year of the campaign. Thats minor. They could launch SLAM in the place of the AGM-154s or have a seperate low section of AGM-65 and cluster bomb strikers and a high section with GBU-12s and GBU-16s. Your A-6 would be available at this time to carry the heavy stuff. In mission 5 I noticed for air to air armament the Hornets only have one AIM-9, no radar weapons, and an ACMI/TACTs pod on the other wingtip. During this time period it would be 2 AIM-9M and 2 AIM-7M or AIM-120A/B. Additionally 3-4 of the tomcats do not launch their TALDs and take them back to the boat. I'd put the second flight of 4 TALD tomcats 30-45 seconds behind the first and launch theirs after the SAMs start getting the first flights TALDs. Finally- in mission 2-5 many of the enemy aircraft have no weapons. This may be because shooting hasnt started but Id imagine they would be ready to shoot back. Despite these minor details. The immersion and scripting are excellent. Easily the best DCS campaign yet.
  3. You must understand that inclusion of the F-14B(U) and F-14D is not something HB codes casually. Its way more than getting cockpit displays to appear like they do on the PTID and MFDs and new HUD. HB doesn't want to do it unless they can code these items to work like they did in the jet as a system- to the greatest extent possible. There is no info in this regard available for the F-14B(U) and F-14D. They will not code a display with pretty colors as that is not what their company is about. It has to function as close as possible to the real thing. Therefore, NO POSSIBLE WAY to get the APG-71, IRST, or PTID in game. NADA, zilch, zippo....unless this information is released to the public. Not pictures of screens, but display information draw times and processing times of the sensor scans and what it can see at what range. How that other developer plans to do this with an Air Force equivalent jet is highly suspect IMHO. They considered the F-14B(U) and F-14D full fidelity but they have tried and know it not to be possible so they wont tease you with the possibility.
  4. 3 F-14A spawned and in the pattern, no problems. No Hornets spawned though.
  5. HH-60H CSAR/SOCOM support bird would be best. Hellfire, crewed M-240 and GAU-17. an excellent Mi-24 opponent.
  6. The F-14s were delivered straight from Grumman AIM-54 compatable only. They couldn't have used AIM-7F or AIM-9L even if Iran had received those weapons. The work to incorporate those items on the jets was to be done in Iran. The Sidewinder implementation was quickly done- Sparrow work was slower.
  7. The end-game goal of your AIM-54C in DCS. Do you want it to include HOJ- how far are you wanting to advance it if the engine will allow you. Do you plan on modelling the slight anhedral of the horizontal stabs.
  8. AIM-54C has coolant connectors.... AIM-54C+ does not. We do not have an AIM-54C+(and most likely wont- that was for the F-14D IIRC but was backward compatible with the A and B?) F-14D can only use C+ because it does not have the coolant supply? Help me out here- is that pallet controlled only?
  9. It was an IRD- Ifrared detector- not an IRST- meaning it was meant to give a direction toward a bandit- not enough for a shot
  10. the F-14A IR device could be better classified as an IRD rather than an IRST. Like the F-4B- maybe useful for picking up missiles along a known vector inbound to your ship or picking up big afterburner plumes, thats about it. TCS is amazing as is the F-14D IRST- only now improved upon in the Rhino centerline tank version.
  11. Regarding TARPs- on As and Early Bs(A+) it was one or the other. Ds could carry both but not at the same time. Reason for this was the databus standard on the aircraft. D didn’t have any limitations
  12. No worries Cobra- take care of the family, we'll keep you in our prayers.
  13. @Cobra.... Well said. And well done.
  14. The F-14A hit the Mach 2.34 requirement and went to Mach 2.41 during Grumman validation testing. Mach 2.34 is the DoD requirement. The F-14 can exceed that if you are crazy enough. Make sure you have no AIM-54 pallets loaded as they do add weight. Some pilots claim to have seen Mach 2.5 plus at the upper 40s- if you want that speed you better make sure you have an airfield nearby you can coast to- it takes a lot of fuel to get that high and fast. NATOPs Top Speed for all F-14s A,B, and D is Mach 1.8 due to safety and controlability in the event of an engine faulire.
  15. Still hoping for the ECM and RWR bumps to be visible on my F-14B
  16. Thanks for the further clarification- I thought I had seen a few pics but didn’t have a date on them. Good info!
  17. Glove vanes were only removed from F-14B® and F-14D® and not a part of new build F-14B and F-14D. The actuators were either removed or just disconnected and the vanes remained in place in every F-14A the fleet ever had. They did not all deactivate at the same time- but you wont find any pics of an F-14A using them past 1990 unless its Iranian. Every F-14 A static you crack open will have a glove vane, they're only locked shut.
  18. I’d think(not researched) that rocket thrust blasted back toward a wing surface will case a large momentary increase in lift on that surface.
  19. I knew an old Navy Captain who was a prior enlisted AT on F-14s and he complained about the INS sometimes failing during the CAT shot( bad shock mounts maybe?) and then reseating itself during the trap so they couldn't really troubleshoot it as a valid fault lol. I have no problem with the INS damage. Quit maneuvering the tomcat like youre gonna die unless you snap 10g, it'll bleed less and fly much better
  20. Mission nights are every other Sunday. Most units fly every Sunday with practice on the non mission Sundays. Squadrons typically have one other night a week they practice. Its very welcoming and developing for new pilots.
  21. I’m a member of a Tomcat squad in JTF-1 and I can promise VMA-231 don’t disappoint! Their capabilities and accomplishments as a unit are world class and they get it done, every time! Our missions and campaigns are incredibly immersive and place an emphasis on force cohesion. If you have the Harrier and don’t have a squadron to fly with, your decision has just been made! See you soon in the air with JTF-1.
  22. Dear sirs, The module is better than any of your others. Please for the love of Pegasus and Hawker Siddley FIX THE BOMB RELEASE ORDER! This is horrid and should be your priority above anything else. It kills immersion and says you don’t care for realism. I can’t defend you until you do. Thanks in advance for the fix by Christmas. -future happy owner
  23. Not true whatsoever- in OEF and OIF Tomcats flew with an AIM-54 until the air threat was confirmed gone- the AIM-54 was retired in 2004 and the Tomcat did its last cruise without it
