  1. I managed to get a pretty significant performance boost when setting my visibility to medium and my ground tex to low- and the game still looks superb. However- does this also affect spotting ranges for AC?
  2. I totally agree it looks good down low, especially when its rolling like in your pic. The technology is there and working and holds great promise.

  4. Hey mate. Two things: You are aware that there exist a very high quailty German radio mod made already? If not, try it out- it is the best there is that I know of. https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/de/files/2161798/ Next- in this and in your RAF mod, you can hear what appears to be mouseclicks in the background of all your samples. Not to discourage you- but might be worth knowng.
  5. Some of the textures stick out like a sore thumb, not only due to the colour variation (There are easily visible in satelite map view), but also when they recieve shadows. These were visible in many youtube vids and is still there. Will try to show some better pics later.
  6. That is odd- because I set it to 50 kts and did not get caps. I saw another one posting about "white caps" just showing rolling waves- but I'll try again. My install appears fine.
  7. I get shimmering on my 970 (AA and AF off), but for some reason, not in overcast weather.
  8. Yes it looks nice just above sea level. It is just the complete and total lack of texture and depth from a few hundred feet when eveything just turn into a deep, deep blue. (As opposed to previews). But we'll see what the next update brings- I'm sure it will be fine eventually:)

Not to nitpick (But its only out of dedication to this wonderful sim), but the Normandy airfields looks a lot better in the Spitfire trailer, where the much more closely resemble the dried up and dusty look they would have. I hope this is something that is considered for a later fresh coat of paint:)
  10. As the title says. 3D objects of the above would go a long way for enhancing the simple generic airbases on the English side of the Normandy map. As a stopgap- I have used a few hangars and buildings from the default ones in the ME, but properm historical ones would increase the quality tremendously. ED has stated numerous times that they are not going to spend a lot of time on England, as it was only added for gameplay. That leaves it to the modscene then:)
  11. The point he raises is very valid. The 'status quo' of the map design is set after the formation on the Allied beacheahd- with allied fighters in Normandy, Cotetin and off Course England. In such a scenario, Euvreux is the maps only German field. There were off course much more in real life, including Abbeville, Calais, and Le Havre as mentioned.

  13. A number of the English airfields have small trees and bushes littered throughout them. I understand that England is second priority, but it would help significantly, as having solid objects sticking up around a field used for massed take off and emergency landings seems a tad risky.

  17. Have any of you fond settings that work for this? I have tried increasing the wind up to ridiculous levels- the sea responds with waves but not the caps like in this vid: Let me know if you worked it out:)
  18. Its fair that England will be low detail- but it is not unfair to hope that they might make some adjustment to it to make better. It does not have to be anything fancy but a proper coastline, slighty better texture work (above mentioned copy-paste) and a bit more detailed airbases (They already have many assets- many airbases in France have solid hangars and admin buildings etc that would work well), then I could work pretty well as a more or less believe launch pad for heading into france. There is still a lot to do in France and I expect it to take priority, off course. Proper infrastructre for one. Also the fields and textures in Normandy varies tremendously. Water texture (or lack thereof). All in all, its off to a good start. It can end up a good map, or it can end up a great map. Seing as we will probably stay here for a very long time I hope for the best.
  19. Modders wont touch this most likely for a long while. First, its an alpha, second, the file structure is completely different from 1.5. It is more reasonable to hope the developers deal with it, at least we know they can make concrete runways. Also if modders did it, they would only replace the texture- meaning all fields would be concrete, not just selected ones. The devs should put some effort into making the permanent airfields like Tangmere and Carpiquet seem as such. The same default hangars and tents everywhere seems very cobbled together. I trust that this is given the current alpha state of the map. I see some bases have sollid/permanent hangar. These should be used at permanent fields. Also- grass i hangars should be dealth with, as well as making some form of track/patch around the camps. In terms of believe ambience thsi has a significant impact, as well as coastlines having trees and grass going all the way down to the coastline. Will make a more comprehensive post in a suitable thread.
  20. For reason I can't produce whitecaps, even with a 50 knot wind. Whats the secret?
  21. So we should see whitecaps at 7-10 knots- which we are not currently.

  23. I also experienced a massive FPS drop. But after checking BOTH shadow options to flat- killing HDR, setting trees to 10K (And killing the grass, which I was not to fond of), I was able to boost it significantly. I went from getting 25-35 FPS at treetop level tp 50-65! I agree that there is still some work to be done (obviously), but it is still a pretty damn good alpha. Hope they do something about the sea state- having to raise it significantly to get whitecaps makes getting airborne in props quite the hazard:)
