  1. For me it worked decently well to re map the head shift and zoom commands on the keyboard to something more intuitive and easier to use than RCTRL+RSHFT+KP4.
  2. I hope the MiG-19 release will free developer time and generate the funds to finish the Harrier faster. As far as I've understood their intentions Razbam plans to release the MiG as a finished module, thus not another WIP that slows down everything else.
  3. While it is certainly easier to learn how to operate a simple aircraft like the F-5 (which offer great fun!), it's much easier in the Harrier to hit anything with your bombs and fight effectively. Just stick to dumb bombs, IR Mavericks, Sidearm and rocket pods at first. The DMT is straight forward to use and a great help to identify your targets, aim precisely and re attack.
  4. Or was it something not intentionally done by Razbam, just a side effect of ED working on the mavericks for Hornet integration?
  5. Not to forget that they are currently working on MiG-21 for MAC too, which is also delayed and probably has taken time away from both the CE II and F4U.
  6. F series machines also had additional armor plates on their underside (and other places), protecting the fuel tanks against ground fire. Beginning in late 1944 some planes were equipped with anti tank rockets instead of the under wing bomb racks.

    F-15E?

Looks like a Sniper ATP for A2A visual identification at range.
  8. Iwo Jima is the smallest possible map for a F4U campaign. It's also their first map and the original plan was to bundle it with the Corsair. Thus for me it makes sense as a first step to bring the Pacific theatre into DCS. I hope they will be able to produce some more Pacific islands maps in quick succession. Even for the entire Solomons the total land area is small compared to the maps we have now. A British WW2 carrier would be fantastic and make a lot of sense for some European scenarios. It looks like the F4U will have to fight mostly German planes in the next few years.

    F-15E?

There is a video on Youtube in which a reporter sits in the back seat during a F-15E CAS combat mission in Afghanistan. An WSO AI would certainly welcomed by me, but I would prefer to have a fully functional Strike eagle first before they start to add features like that.
  10. They probably started to model the Yorktown class years ago, when the F4U was planned to be just the first step into a massive Pacific war project. I agree that an Essex class carrier would have been a better choice for what we have know. Never really understood why developers didn't focus on Korea first after the F-86, MiG-15 and a late model P-51D had been released back then.
  11. So say we all. One of my favorite WW2 planes, directly behind the F4U.
  12. There is enough space between Number 1 and 2 for Tomcats on the Nimitz class:
  13. Coders with the required capabilities to make DCS quality aircraft can probably find a better paid job elsewhere. For me flight sim development seems to be a work of passion, not a quick money grap. The gazillions of overly ambitious projects announced by the various teams over the last few years look more like the pursuit of their personal dreams than any sound businesses plan.
  14. This also matches my experience. I had to open my almost new CH Combatstick in 2012 to firmly attach a loose wire, but it works great since then.
  15. They are also installed to allow stealth aircraft to be detected by civilian radars and thus to operate safely in a crowded friendly airspace.
  16. I welcome each new WW2 aircraft. A grater variety of cheaper planes could bring a lot of new blood into DCS WW2.
  17. A massive Pacific Theater project was in development by LN in 2015/16 before the M3L/Heatblur split. There is no confirmation that this plans are still being pursued beyond the F4U-1D. https://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=3581001&postcount=9
  18. I guess they already work with ED's new damage model? I don't think including the different properties of structural materials was possible before, or is this limited to the visual display of damaged parts.
  19. That's news to me! :)
  20. Since ED made an AC-130U desktop trainer for the USAF a few years ago any cooperation would make a lot of sense.
  21. I wholeheartedly agree. I wish there would be just one DCS install with optional patches flagged as beta or release. I miss the old times when patches were just separate downloadable exe files and I could install whatever version I wanted to use.
  22. I really hoped to see a FC4 Typhoon or older Tornado model :(
  23. Yes, during Franzak's deployment dropping bombs was the exception, not the rule.
  24. Yes, the F4U in development by Leatherneck/M3L is the correct Corsair variant. The F4U-1D and its FAA equivalent operated from USN and RN carriers during the final year of the war.
