[question] should I expect all the DED/ICP pages to be modeled?
VampireNZ replied to exnihilodub's topic in DCS: F-16C Viper
I really hope so too, 5 was probably my most pressed ICP button in BMS. Very surprised the Cruise pages still aren't functional on the ICP. -
All good man - yeah you too. Crazy times.

Lower Ejection Handle. The lower ejection handle is on the front of the seat bucket between the occupant’s legs. The sequence for ejection remains the same, since both the face curtain and the lower ejection handle initiate seat firing by mechanically actuating the escape system initiator. The seat initiator is fired after 2 inches of lower firing handle travel. Actuation of the lower ejection handle requires approximately 20 to 25 pounds of pull.

I think sometimes a developer just needs to swallow their pride and admit that something wasn't quite the great idea/addition to the product they initially thought it was, and remove it. Reflections seem to be the flavour of the month at ED lately, case in point the side windows in the new Ka-50 cockpit - yikes. Not saying you don't get reflections in an aircraft cockpit, but generally a: They are not as noticeable and b: they move with your head position and c: window reflections are not 'in focus and noticed' because your eyes are focused on the outside terrain etc. - you are not sitting their cross-eyed focusing on the window pane!

DCS: de Havilland DH.98 Mosquito FB Mk VI Discussion
VampireNZ replied to msalama's topic in DCS: Mosquito FB VI
I prefer 'that other sim' for my warbird fix....but the Mozzie might just change that! http://www.airforce.mil.nz/downloads/pdf/aircraft/de%20havilland%20mosquito.pdf Awesome aircraft! -
Polychop Simulations OH-58D Kiowa
VampireNZ replied to Polychop Simulations's topic in DCS: OH-58 Kiowa
Yes as Jester says above, all cyclic control inputs on the Huey actually go all the way top the top of the mast and tilt the rotating stabiliser bar which has weights on the ends and is very rigid in-plane due to high centripetal force, then the subsequent resultant movement of the stabiliser bar due to cyclic input is fed back down to the blade grips - also the stab bar movement is further damped by two damper units attached to the mast just below it, so TLDR the Huey is quite stable. Small lighter helis are a lot more twitchy and just need the lightest touch on the cyclic. -
Trouble picking up targets with new update
VampireNZ replied to drew03tx's topic in DCS: F-16C Viper
Having radar Spotlight Scan would be super helpful.....narrow focused beam while TMS held FWD. -
We were, and we didn't - It's ok thou - because as usual the community has fixed it instead - clear option here - https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.c...files/3308270/

Raining down death and destruction from above is generally the idea  In real combat you generally go with the most effective option, as opposed to the 'most fun' - but everyone can play DCS how they like, that's the whole point of it :joystick:

Have you considered using CBU-97s? Ideal weapon to take out multiple grouped launchers and a central radar unit. Ever heard the saying 'one pass - haul ass?' You're not an A-10 :music_whistling: Not telling you how to build your own missions, just a query. I need to go back in and start campaign again clearing out each site fully.... Regarding the SP 2 for timing, have you considered a later takeoff (save fuel) or loitering at SP1 till push time (radio msg from Hornets)? Is a little unusual to fly feet dry, then back out feet wet just for 'timing'.

All to do with HMI (Human Machine Interface) to differentiate them from the keypad keys. You will also notice that the ENTR button is higher than the rest to assist with location without looking. I personally have an ICP box in VR and having the offset/raised layout makes it very easy to swiftly press all the correct buttons with no visual reference.
-
You generally know the exact location of your primary target with associated comprehensive intel like satellite photos etc. Whole intel sections are focused on just getting as much intel on your target as they can and organising it into a briefing package for the flight. Insofar as every other enemy unit - not so much! Random placement and late triggers are the way to go - wish more missions and campaigns utilised random stuff. You usually have a good idea of the enemies capabilities thou. (IMHO as ex-military aircrew)
-
Hot pit ready to go here!! Being ex-aircrew the novelty certainly wears off after 6 years of starting the engines and systems everytime after a 1.5hr pre-flight. It used to be the ultimate luxury taking over from another crew with a hot pit - just get in and get on to the serious flying stuff lol.
-
Totally agree! - my post was just regarding the comment 'No promises being kept.' I would be happy to fly anything at this point!

Yeah you're not kidding - whatever happened to the Clear Tint Canopy option for the F-16 that was coming in this patch? Literally nothing was improved in the Viper at all. Couple of training missions and a page in the manual...wat? ... we have added an option in the Options / Special Tab of the F-16C to select between the gold tint and transparent canopy...https://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=4229005&postcount=38 Ummmm - no you haven't Wags. (yes I know everything else listed at link above is WIP...I mean what isn't at this point). It's ok thou - because as usual the community has fixed it instead - clear option here - https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3308270/ Also, ED must be the only dev that absolutely tanks the performance of their program so you can take prettier screenshots - because I mean lets face it that's all you are doing at 5fps...you sure aint flying a combat flight sim.

CMS mapped to joystick. Is the Thumb stick forward to release selected program on actual F-16 stick. Select the actual program to release on the CMS panel beside your left knee (program 1-4 - MAN) https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/f/fe/F-16_Side_Stick_Controller.jpg Yes MIDS always on.

[LATER IN EARLY ACCESS] Air to Ground missiles
VampireNZ replied to Dannyvandelft's topic in Wish List
Ssssshhh...logic will not be tolerated in this forum! Is sorta like if you are CCRP with the pod and move the target point - you are subsequently screwed for the rest of the mission if you need to ref that SP, as your SP is now permanently moved also. Clearly just 'saving' all your SP's co-ordinates in the sim at mission start, and having the option to re-position them all back to the default mission-start locations mid-mission, by perhaps pressing a MFD button, that could be labelled CZ for shits and giggles, until SPI stuff is done - is too difficult :music_whistling: But I digress lol. -
That is the best thing to do, as you can also zero out any unintended angles and lateral offset you may have input while 'saving' your viewpoint in-game. Ideally you want to just adjust height and longitudinal position.
-
Just ran first mission. First Q - are the SP's correct? SP1 takes you inland, then SP 2 back out offshore then run to SP 3 from water. (I personally just ran up the coast inland from 1 straight to 3.) Also I successfully destroyed both Silkworm radars at SP's 3 & 4 (with verbal prompts afterwards), returned to Kish, landed and taxied in to parking. Ended mission, and immediately got Campaign Failure message, and campaign is registered as failed. Also wingman just busts a move straight to the runway and takes off after taxi clearance, taking you out if you're in the way lol. Had an issue with the 'F-16C Arab Spring MDC' kneeboard page displaying correctly in VR, think you have some transparency in it? I resaved as .jpg and will try that. I do like your choice of taxeoff speed chart thou - whoever made that must be a legend.. :music_whistling:

RWR Intensity UP/DWN button mappings have no corresponding action in-game, no change to RWR intensity when mapped control used. Intensity can be altered fine by actually manipulating the knob with the mouse, so that works fine.

Strange writings in VR "main:" - "User1"
VampireNZ replied to Mike Wazowsky's topic in DCS World Tutorial & Help Requests
This has been fixed in the latest internal build, for next update. Can't remember the exact post but was reading it last night as have the same problem. -
All gd, sounds like a plan. The Viper will be more complete when you are ready to move over to something a little more deadly. Attached a couple of pdf's that I found useful with the 'Hog to help you out. Make sure you get Chucks Guide also! - https://www.mudspike.com/chucks-guides-dcs-a-10c-warthog/ TM HOTAS Warthog Stick Layout.pdf TM HOTAS Warthog Throttle Layout.pdf

Thrustmaster T.Flight Rudder Pedals are plenty good enough, is what I use. In so far as what aircraft - I would have to say the Viper! Awesome ground pounder along with being amazing at A-A, very simple to use - although the whole A-G aspect is still WIP or not implemented yet (proper TPOD control, AG radar modes etc). Plenty still working to get the job done thou. Yes it is FBW but personally I really enjoy the razor-sharp control you have - especially when using a force-sense sidestick like the FSSB. View from the pit is amazing (especially in VR). A-10 is of course a great ground-pounder too, but is slooow. If that is what you are after then all gd, just loitering around slinging stuff out. The systems are far more complicated to use than the Viper, or the Harrier for that matter. Many modes etc. for each weapon, you better know that HOTAS back to front and stay current! I did enjoy the Harrier when I was flying it (awaiting the Viper), again it is quite slow but a hell of a lot faster than the 'Hog. Very competent ground pounder but that is it - minimal A-A capability. Then you also have the nifty vertical flight aspect which is interesting and fun. I see ppl have mentioned the Tomcat, which is my personal fav aircraft IRL - but doesn't do it for me in DCS. Jester is completely hopeless (IMHO) and having no real control of the radar is frustrating (for me), compared to the Viper where you do it all. You also need a mod to control the TPOD from the front which is actually really fun to use, but which will be purposefully broken by HB when Jester can use the POD for 'realism'. The aircraft and flight model are beautiful and she is a joy to hand fly, fuel for days and you get carrier ops. Will probably re-visit her one day when HB stop changing the flight model every update, and Jester becomes more useful than a retarded monkey.
