Debolestis Shapeways shop
VampireNZ replied to debolestis's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Aah those dimensions were of the printed part dude.. -
The movement does seem janky - like it is linked to the horizon bars on the HUD, so when you bank it scoots over to the side. In my experience with the tadpole it stayed pretty neutral horizontally and you could bank over to it and place the FPM on it, not bank over and have to try and guess where it will centralise again when you level out.

Edit-Rule 1.16: Google Search T.O. GR1F-16CJ-1-1 Supplemental Blk 50 with F110-GE-129 engine (Part B).

Yet another (virtual) ICP panel for F-16
VampireNZ replied to AnarchyZG's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Nice - that would be cool if I wasn't in VR! ;) You could probably slide the dobber over left a little and add the DRIFT C/O - WARN RESET switch also. Just lately found I have been using that a fair bit so had to add the mapping to my virtual ICP panel. -
Don't worry - in VR it will just be all one big blob anyway lol. :helpsmilie:

Recommend me a new throttle
VampireNZ replied to gavagai's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
My TWCS has lasted years and does the job great - I would just buy another one of those lol. Personally I am waiting for the VKB throttle. NB: Adding Nyogel to the slider rails transforms it also - so smooth after that! -
Yea I actually noticed yesterday flying with external tanks and switched QTY Indicator to EXT that there was an excessive quantity split (red needle indicator visible) till the tanks were empty.

Hah yea you get better at remembering...or make little tricks to help you out! You can see in the example I posted above you have to list 'everything!' So after doing this form hundreds of times for several years you soon remember a 53D weighs 17lbs, 1 liferaft weight 280lbs etc.
-
Absolutely. I used to do the W&B calcs for our P-3 aircraft every day and had a cheat-sheet folder with all sorts, including a complete list of all stores and their weights, and moments when installed at certain stations. A lot of W&B these days is done more 'electronically' - so just enter 2 in the Aim-120 box and it's all done for you. But we still had to do it the old school way using graphs and a calculator....and a slide rule - no jks lol. You only have a few weights to remember, and if you can't just make up a sheet for your kneeboard with the 2 A-A missiles the Viper currently carries and the handful of bombs and your GTG ;) If it makes you feel any better - we had to memorise 11 pages of weights and limits  Edit: Apologies - (been a few years), I meant you start with aircraft Basic Weight (no fuel or stores), add stores to get ZFW, then fuel. We have the A/C basic weight written on the TOLD (Takeoff and Landing Data) card sitting in the cockpit, so you referenced that when determining your current aircraft weight to calculate Best Range Speed etc. W&B form example attached.
-
In the real world you know your aircraft Basic Weight from when you signed it out, then you add the fuel weight (look at the gauge), and the weight of the attached stores (look out the canopy/SMS page). So to answer your question - yes there is, if you use the arbitrary ZFW in DCS for the aircraft that always stays the same  To not be cheeky - no, nothing specific on the ICP listing your total weight.

A2A Refueling "trick" to make it easier - CAT1/3
VampireNZ replied to DerekSpeare's topic in DCS: F-16C Viper
Just placebo I am afraid Derek. Cat III only reduces maximum AOA to 16°-18° from 25°, reduces maximum roll rate command by 40%, and maximum rudder deflection. So unless you are doing some pretty extreme AAR using the maximum control surface limits...then it won't make any difference. But hey if it works for you then roll with it. Also as you mention - opening the AAR door below 400 knots will put the FLCS into takeoff and landing gains setting (pitch rate command till 10° AOA then blended, and roll rate limiting). Edit: Yes this change is noticeable in DCS, at least if using the FSSB force sensing base. -

Sent through a PM with the dimensions of that tailpiece a while ago - are you still able to print me a version that fits correctly? -
Later, we will add more functions to the IFF system like other modes, time of day settings, and more TOD settings...so now we have to remember our new day modes and codes swap at UTC switch over as well?.....that will end badly lol. Nice. We had a crew of 15 and hopefully someone remember to call it on ICS so we swapped to new-day codes and didn't get shot down. But more importantly...stores jettison is now working! wohoo.

Yea that's what I have done - S/B to my cursor hat press on my throttle (cursor enable), so that matches as it should, then just modified press same button for the weapon select. Was just hoping to not have to deviate too much with workarounds regarding mapping and learning that, only to change it again later - but is no big deal. Is strange because the functionality for the buttons already exists (via the MFD button pushes) - so it just needs a simple addition to the mappable commands in-game for the cursoe/enable button and the long press for the NWS button. Can only assume it was an oversight during initial development/key mapping setup.
-
Does the CURSOR/ENABLE switch have any function at the moment?
VampireNZ replied to imacken's topic in DCS: F-16C Viper
Yea just map it to RH MFD OSB 19 for the time being, and toggle bewteen SLAVE and BORE with A-A weapons. I use the TWCS so the slew hat on the throttle has a press feature. -
Just map the slap-switch to CMS left...now you have your selected program and a standard 'emergency' program ready to go on the CMS. CMS Left is supposed to activate program 6 anyway (SS is prog 5)....guess not in this 'version' Viper thou.
-
Mate, seriously? You have the VR HMD with pretty much the highest resolution available on a commercial headset...just accept the fact that maybe others with different headsets with lower res are having difficulty reading the MFD's etc. Nothing to do with in-game settings....or what 'version' of MFD they got.

It is pretty easy to figure out, the delay cue is a commensurate height above the bottom of the HUD as the target point is below it, so adjust your speed/angle etc and you will see it move up and down...I was just testing it out so sped up, angled down etc and as I got closer the delay cue dropped off the bottom and the CCIP no-delay indicator was on the target. Was pretty close to the TGT by then thou. So it IS possible - but I would just drop them level in CCRP anyway after a CCIP designation - tis no biggie. You saw the full CCIP pipper more often before because it was travelling further in the unopened state (lower BA), so target point was more out in front of you. Same deal as slick vs HD Mk-82's for example.
-
It will initially be displayed if you use the same profile as before due to the increased BA - but if you pitch to a steeper angle etc it is easily possible to drop it in CCIP with no delay cue - have done it several times since the update. Just with it bursting higher it behaves closer to a high-drag weapon now, so yes the delay cue will appear more often than not.
-
Same deal here - have the MFD's, ICP and stick etc all set in same location as in the sim for the Viper and it works pretty well. I do use some small foam blocks on the side rail of each MFD beside the middle button on each edge to -orient- my hand a little when searching for a specific button, but generally can hit it bang-on now. Also having no trouble in VR using the ICP quickly inputting say new co-ords or something like that after a little practice, but having it right in front of your face and bracing your left hand on the edge of it makes alignment of your hand/fingers a bit easier. But def +1 for "Once that is set I will say that VR, a realistic instrument panel and HOTAS layout and SimShaker is incredibly immersive."
-
For the time being (till SP add via ICP is a thing) just edit a current steerpoint with the airfields co-ordinates on the ICP using STPT page and distance it that way - EHSI set to PLS/NAV mode with M button..
-
Updates on the project.....not literal 'software updates' like you allude to.
-
I own the Mirage and Gazelle modules.....the F-16 constant updates/progress so far is akin to hitting the module jackpot in comparison lol.

DCS isn't on the list of supported games on the GeForce Now site.
