How much is the MI-8 helping?
Focha replied to Rhinozherous's topic in DCS: Mi-8MTV2 Magnificent Eight
Both Mi-8, Ka-50 and Huey are great helicopters. The Mi-8 handling qualities without stabilization (some kind of SAS) are quite similar to those of Huey, although it's a bit more stable due to its weight. With stabilization on, it a bit more stable during hover, but you still have to manage anti torque. In cruise with stabilization on in roll/pitch, yaw and altitude, it is quite stable and you don't have to touch the controls. Regards. -
Really cool information and experience. Thanks for sharing. Sent from Tapatalk.

Cool! Didn't know the harrier nozzle could be seen glowing at night. Sent from Tapatalk.

have to trim to get full cyclic deflection range, realistic?
Focha replied to wolle's topic in DCS: UH-1H
have to trim to get full cyclic deflection range, realistic? I can't speak for the Huey, but the explanation above is pretty accurate for other helicopters with hydraulic assisted controls. But for the AS350 B3, with trim system (most of them don't have it), you can feel a little resistance due to the hydraulic fluid and some rotor forces. On the AS365 with dual hydraulics you can't feel the forces, the force you feel is an artificial one to assist in not getting pilot induced oscillations when you press trim release. But most of the time you will fly with trim and adjust with beep trim (hat switch on the cyclic). Only if large and abrupt maneuvers are required you will press the trim release. Else you will feel the magnetic centering force where you trim the cyclic. Also I have been using a MSFF2 and it somehow simulates the force, but there was a 3rd application program somewhere that you could use and simulated 3 parameters (centering force, resistance, dampening) which was a lot more realistic than the forces in DCS. If anyone knows the software name just post it here. Regards Sent from Tapatalk. -

central position trimmer mode bug

central position trimmer mode bug I think around 15%, yes. With MSFF2. Sent from Tapatalk. -
Sure. I agree with you... And I also agree that is a generation problem. And social. And global. We could discuss a lot. In my time, internet didn't exist, and the software makers did not reply or contact any community. I remember Jane's simulations, they just produced the sims and start selling the final product. Things were different, more simple. Today simulations are extremely complex and have to be constantly updated, it's the new norm. With that norm, comes the necessity to make money to work on a project. So I guess I can agree with you regarding the generation issue but it's a new world, with different marketing models. Yet, your little proverb will remain the same. I tell myself that only when they release finals I buy it, but then I have to test it. Guess the Beta marketing works on me. Sent from Tapatalk.

I've already reported this. And put some images to illustrate. Can't find thread now, I'll try to search it. Sent from Tapatalk. -
Sure, I was not trying to be aggressive. Sorry for that if it felt that way. I have described a few dynamics that the Gazelle shouldn't do (even with fenestron, a conventional helicopter is a conventional helicopter) but I am sure that those issues are going to be effectively better in the future, first because I and others have had already the opportunity to write about those issues in the appropriate part of the forum and secondly because Polychop acknowledged it and already said that would be improved. Also, and forgive me about this, in my humble opinion it does not mean much to say that ALAT uses the simulator. For what purpose the simulator is used? You know that you have levels of simulators in the real world. In some of those, the FM is truly terrible, really bad! In which you can only train operational/instruments procedures. I once was in a professional helicopter simulator that it was really bad regarding FM and in the end it didn't served any purpose at all, or at least the intended purpose. After certification I think it was rated as EASA FNPT instead of intended FTD. Don't remember the levels, sorry. Back on topic. Maybe the problem is in the question on this thread and some answers given here. After all it was asked for the best FM and I think that is a bit subjective. Again myHelljumper, sorry if I felt aggressive, it was not my intention, but sometimes, in this community, there are some people that think they have technical/experience knowledge to talk about some specific things, like for example, FM and probably I was a bit on the preconception side of things when I read your first post. I have to agree with what Bearfoot said in the first paragraph. I could say that each and every helicopter or plane in DCS is unique in some way. And that it is really difficult to answer the question's post with only one module. That depends what kind of aircraft do you like to fly and which era. Don't get me wrong in the Gazelle, I think it is a great work of art. And its a lot of fun online with a proper human gunner or yourself as a gunner. I don't really like the questions as it is in this thread. All are good depending one what you are looking for.

Sorry mate, can you put me in contact with some ALAT folks? Because if they say the FM is ok... Then it goes against all my life. :) You don't have to remind me that the Huey FM was not perfect before final. What I commented, was the conviction that Gazelle FM is good. It is not. And if I say it is not, it's because I have some background and experience to say it isn't. I really have hopes that they fix what it's not realistic in terms of helicopter flight dynamics. Right now, sometimes it feels like a scripted FM to be honest. But I agree with you, it's not final. What I was commenting was regarding the assumptions made that the Gazelle FM is ok. I cannot speak about airplanes, but I can speak a bit about helicopters. Cheers mate. PM: Also I went to the Helljumper's Youtube channel, I don't know if it's yours or not but I was reading the VRS statements and the little experiment with FM. Everyone knows VRS in the helicopter industry, it's not easy to get into VRS in real life, unless some conditions are present or you try to put the helicopter in those conditions. Those conditions must be avoided by the pilot. I never entered fully developed VRS but I have experience the initial VRS. I can say that it is represented by a lack of forces in the cyclic (cyclic is not so effective) plus a great rate of descent which is increased if you increase collective, to the point where if deep VRS state is encounter, some defend that you cannot recover the flight even by using cyclic or collective, because by that time your whole rotor disk is stalled. So the little video you have made, it can be representative of VRS initial state or not, because the collective is lower to enter VRS, so you have the right initial conditions, lack of forward speed and a descent rate more that 300~500 ft/m. I would say it is the initial VRS state, but the guy in the video did not increase the collective to see if the situation was aggravated, so you cannot take any conclusion from that like the guy who posted the video wanted to show. So... My point is: it would be great for this community if people who lack experience did not try to defend or comment on things that are wrong or that they lack enough experience or knowledge to comment. Because in the end we all lose. Regards.

Who is the comedian?

Sorry I have to intervene. Although I agree that Mi-8 and Huey feels extremely well regarding helicopter FM, Gazelle lacks a lot in that department! Gazelle team has to work a bit on the FM because there are inconsistencies regarding FM and what a helicopter should react to pilot inputs.

Adding a Track IR Reset/Reload function ?
Focha replied to Hueyman's topic in View and Spotting Bugs
Please! Please include this ASAP! Numerous times, about 10 minutes lost when you enter MP just to figure out that Track IR for some reason didn't load up. Thanks. -
The Brazilian is also quite impressive with the upgraded avionics. It would be cool to have at least a modernized HUD with CCIP and CCRP capabilities. Sent from Tapatalk.

Not really mate. Guess you aren't fully capable of understanding what a project means. I understand things are subject to change, anything in the world is. But I don't agree a bit with your comment there. I don't blame anyone, why blaming myself? I was just saying that for the price you have paid, and for the numerous times that it was said that would be a feature like that, its a bit on the side of the deception. And that's why it is a compromise between a company wanting to sell a beta product versus what can actually do. Now, imagine that a module is being sold as a beta, it is promised some features to be present in final release. You buy the beta, in the anticipation of those features. But now the producer has some other priorities and don't do all the features. I think you can understand the problem here and your reply is an understatement. Sometimes is better stay quiet if nothing will be said to improve the situation. Regards. Sent from Tapatalk.

Same problem after installing Simple Radio. Also multiple timeouts.

Neither. Fiber connection. 200 Mbps.

What is the real mechanism like? Sent from Tapatalk.

I also have a similar machine, but with 16Gb RAM and I just get the timeouts, some stutters but not much. The problem are the timeouts. Enviado do meu iPhone usando o Tapatalk

When I was young, I remember to see the Portuguese Air Force A-7P, crossing over the horizon, it was really a sight. 50 units were acquired, 44 A-7P version, were refurbished from A-7A with the Pratt & Whitney TF30 P-408 engines and avionics similar to A-7E. 6 were ex USN A-7As that comprised the TA-7P. I would be glad to have the A-7E version. :P

As far as I know, some of those weapons are not used in this version of the F-5. Enviado do meu iPhone usando o Tapatalk

He has some reasons there. When I bought Mi8 I though we were going to have Bombsight, because they said they would do it! So it is only fair for the price they've asked, that they should do it. But, of course things sometimes take another course when the product it's not finishes, so I understand both sides, client and provider. Enviado do meu iPhone usando o Tapatalk

If subjectivity repeats itself, when the number of repetitions are large enough, then it would turn out objectivity. So... if you repeat a lot of times that ED is creating a F-15C, DCS level, maybe it will happens. :P Yet, I prefer F-15E.

Absolutely amazing guys! Thank you for listening people that can offer something valuable (experience) to your already great simulation. Kind regards and continue the great work. Enviado do meu iPhone usando o Tapatalk

GPS is for those who do not know how to plot a route in a 1:100 000 or 1:25 000 map. Print one and forget F10. Now the fun begins. :D
