How much does your DCS experience rely on community contributions?
Rudel_chw replied to Dangerzone's topic in Chit-Chat
Major, I enjoy trying out new community-created liveries, missions, campaigns, and new assets. Dcs would not be the same for me if I had to go back to official content only. -
I understand your logic, but I'd rather stick with my preference for finishing one item before starting another.

F-14A/B Tomcat Combat Fundamentals Guide and Checklist
Rudel_chw replied to NapaPilot81's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
Hi, Just downloaded your F-14 Guide, seems really well written and with a lot more information on combat than either the Heatblur manual nor Chuck's Guide. I'm not currently flying the Tomcat but a lot of its information is applicable to other fighter aircraft, I added it to my DCS library and will serve as night-time reading I'd love to see something similar but for the MiG-29, perhaps write first one for the Flamming Cliffs version? ... and then a 2nd version once the Full Fidelity aircraft arrives? Best regards, from Chile Eduardo -
but not any from Aerges .. they even redid their first Module with a fully reworked Flight Model and as a plus added a second version of it, the C-101CC, all free for their current owners, and did all of it before releasing their second Module ... a true example for other developers. Wonder how you can be sure of that, any users survey? .. I like cold war birds and thus I'm sure to purchase the F-104, but the Mirage F1 has a lot going for it: 4 versions including a two seater, a more modern radar and better air-ground capability, so I wouldn't bet that the F-104 would sell in larger quantities. According to the Spudknocker's 2024 survey the Mirage F1 was owned by 20% of the users that participated on that survey (which has probably a MP bias to it). Everyone can have his own opinion, but I'm really glad that Aviodev is opting for finishing their current Module first, before focusing on the next. Anyway, I'm sure they are advancing with the 104 in parallel, so I truly expect that the 104 will appear not too long after the Mirage F1M. Eduardo

It was still working for me on January of 2025, but have not tested it more recently:

while you wait for BD campaign, you could give a try to this user-made campaign: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3344992/

bad decision to finish one Module before starting another? Really? … that means you are OK with Modules left unfinished? … I strongly disagree, Aerges deserves all our respect for the way they develop on DCS.

Why some people expect to always get things for free? I've flown the -21 for years, so I feel that by now I truly got my money's worth.

Its correct, the VPC object light normally does not illuminate the cockpit interior ... on my case I placed the Canopy on the CW Germany Map, where the built-in light of the ramp does illuminate the cockpit for some reason.
-
@razo+r is correct, if you place the aircraft as "start from ground" rather than "start at ramp", then it can spawn inside a VPC Canopy, like this: If you want the interior lights of the canopy to work, then it must be placed as a ground unit of type "fortification", instead of a simple Static Object:

Strange bug .. the nevada mission on my DCS also shows tooltips (which I have not enabled on my config), so it is not a bug within your DCS, but rather something within the MIZ file itself ... but could not find the cause

LHD JUAN CARLOS I (L61) MOD// YA DISPONIBLE!

for me its a deal breaker, the F-5E was cheap at only us$ 10 but I still regret the purchase and have barely flown it. I have also passed on the Mig-29 and will refuse to spend money on aircraft that can’t have user skins nor can their cockpits be loaded on the ModelViewer
-
Hopefully the DCS Model Viewer will be able to open its 3D shape, so that users can create liveries and training missions for it ... unlike the F-5E Remastered.
-
these old missions were made for the version 1.3 of the uh60 Mod, perhaps you are using a different version?

Gunthrek Academy: F/A-18C Hornet
Rudel_chw replied to Gunthrek's topic in DCS: F/A-18C Hornet Tutorials
Thank you so much to both of you, this is an excellent example of how to build a great DCS Training series. I added a small thumbnail, renamed the campaign sections, and placed it within the DCS Main Folder rather than saved games, just to suit my preferences, but its otherwise unchanged: Cheers, Eduardo -
well, a store that locks out their customers is kind of shooting themselves in the foot.
-
None that I know of, the DCS Editor works on the assumption that you create your sound files outside of DCS and then allows you to add those sound files inside the MIZ so that the mission can play them when needed ... since you already have the sounds outside DCS there is no need for the Editor to export those out of the MIZ.
-
Only if you don't lock out all your family and friends in the process.
-
Perhaps, but instead of ED just suing the thief if/when such a steal happens, they prefer to reduce or eliminate the customization capabilities of their product .. not good, instead I will simply use my wallet to vote on this choice that ED has taken.

I don't really know if "a lot", but my DCS spending habits have certainly changed since the Razbam fiasco, I used to purchase almost every new item that came to the store, but now it is like this: on the second semester of last year I only purchased two items: FC 2024 and the F-5 remastered, just because its pricing wouldn't last, but it was just a fifth of what I usually spend, and so far this year I've only refunded the F-15E and used those funds to purchase the Germany map, for a total balance of US$ 0 this year so far. The Mig-29 was tempting, but having its shapes and textures encrypted made it a no-go for me, its a sad situation for me as DCS used to be my main hobby.

Store custom cockpit views to snap views 0-9
Rudel_chw replied to TheBiggerBass's topic in View and Spotting Bugs
not for the whole view concepts, but for snapviews there is this one: -
Store custom cockpit views to snap views 0-9
Rudel_chw replied to TheBiggerBass's topic in View and Spotting Bugs
RCtrl+Num0 : Changes snap views to "toggle" mode. Num1 .. Num9 (with no modifiers) will switch view to the corresponding snap view, and stay there until the user selects a different snap view, or taps Num0. -

You first select the snapview key with NumX + LWin, then adjust the view, and finally press RAlt + KP0 -
