Currenthill Asset Pack (from 4/25/25 Newsletter)
Rudel_chw replied to NineLine's topic in Currenthill Asset Packs
Honestly, I can't really share this "new is good, old is bad" viewpoint ... it leads to never be satisfied with what one already has available, but instead always looking forward to the new. CH will not dissapear, what he meant on the FAQ is that his Mod Packs will not see further development, but instead he will work on new assets under ED's roof. I believe that view point is shared with a minority of very hands-on Users, I know that on my own case I updated the Packs only when really needed for the mission I was editing. Much better in fact ... I never shared my own missions that employed CH assets because I would have to do tech support for most people that use Mods without enough experience, but now that the assets will be built-into DCS, sharing missions become a much easier possibility. So, for me this is an excellent development and can't share your sad feelings -
not all vsn mods employ the F-15C binaries, some use the A-10A, Su-27 or Su-33 … I can fly the F-104 if I enter first the F-15C and then change slot to the F-104, as shown here:

While we wait, here is a video of a F-4U-4 fully restored to flyable condition, sharp video with nice sound ... it's not the same version as Magnitude's U-1, but its still very interesting to watch:

Mig-29 updated cockpit looks weird
Rudel_chw replied to Ala12Rv-watermanpc's topic in MiG-29 for DCS World
Unfortunately, the MiG-29 is ignoring any custom cockpit stored at /Saved Games/ ... the only way to get an english cockpit is by placing the texture files within the ED files path, for example: C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World 2.9.6\Mods\aircraft\MiG-29\Liveries\Cockpit_MiG-29A This works and looks like this: Unfortunately this will most likely break the IC for Multiplayer ... I wonder why ED lately is doing this kind of thing, that only preclude users from fully enjoying their Modules. After the nasty surprise I got with the new F-5E (which can't have user liveries made) I will not ever purchase an aircraft Module before its released and after confirming if it indeed can be customized or not. Bad move ED, hope you change your ways or you risk losing your most faithful customers. Eduardo -
Here is a very small Mod that makes a small fix on the entry.lua file of the F-15, such that it is not necessary to sit on an F-15 prior to flying the F-104. But it is not IC compliant, meaning that for multiplayer use you have to revert to the original entry.lua ... however you can use a Mod manager like OvGME to easily enable or disable this fix: below is the fix in OvGME format, if you'd like to try it. Military Assets for DCS by Currenthill
Rudel_chw replied to currenthill's topic in Static/AI Mods for DCS World
Regarding: Q17: Will the new core assets have the CH prefix in the mission editor? A17: No. For consistency and ease-of-use the new core assets will be integrated with other DCS core assets. I wish ED reversed this decision, as I find it useful to easily identify the asset's origin, in the same way as was done with Massun's Assets, plus it is kind of a recognition for his efforts to add AI units to DCS. -
OK, just tested and you are right, the VSN Mod does not allow you to sit on it right away. The cause is a change ED did to the way the FC3 modules are currently handled. On VSN Discord there is this workaround: We found a temporary solution for that problem. You need to jump into an F15C slot to load the appropriate DLLs. After that, you can change slots to a F-15C dependent VSN-Mod and it will work. To not break immersion, you can set the F-15C to late activation and change slots. That way the DLLs get loaded but you never entered a F15C cockpit, but the mods work. We will monitor the situation more closely and give you a "ping" once we know something (but only one Ping ) So, I added an F-15C slot to my test mission: so, at mission start I first take care to enter the F-15 first, and then change slot to the F-104, like this: Give it a try this way Eduardo

You need to have the Flaming Cliffs Module installed, as the F-104 needs it.

Yes, it could be that .. I'm using the MiG-21 (which has no data cartridge) and my cockpit triggers work fine, like this: + If you attach the mission I can inspect some of those triggers to take a look (if you want ofc)
-
I'm currently editing several Training Missions that employ that trigger, and I can assure you that the trigger is still working fine. What may have happened is that a Module update has altered either the device number (unlikely), the command (more likely), or the values that it accepts.

you dont have the fix files installed, probably the recent dcs update deleted them from your game.

Rudel_chw replied to VR Flight Guy in PJ Pants's topic in Flyable/Drivable Mods for DCS World
Ahh, I have no idea how to do that as I've never tried it. -
Saab SK-60 Trainer
Rudel_chw replied to VR Flight Guy in PJ Pants's topic in Flyable/Drivable Mods for DCS World
Don't have that Mod enabled at the moment, but doesn't Right Shift + P toggle the crew bodies? -
because some of it is undeserved? Some people want a perfect moon for 55 bucks

Any walkthrough videos available for the campaign?
Rudel_chw replied to goot66's topic in F-4E Red Flag 81-2 Campaign
really? .. the campaign was released a week ago (apr 17) seems you are a bit optimistic -
Entschuldigung, ich habe nicht bemerkt, dass der ursprüngliche Beitrag den deutschsprachigen Bereich des Forums nutzte. Ich werde das nächste Mal vorsichtiger sein.

Or set the mission date to a year where the A-10C was actually in service.
-
15 seconds when flying at MIL power. 5 seconds when using the Afterburner. 3 seconds when the emergency afterburner is used. After a negative G maneuver the pilot should fly 30 seconds at positive G, because of the time needed to refill the Inverted flight Fuel tank.

Agree, this size screen is perfect for reading and this is an early 10-year old 1st generation iPad Pro, but it still works perfect for this duty. On my PC I store my DCS documentation on a Cloud Drive, and on the iPad I employ the https://www.goodreader.com/ software, to get the manual from it. actually I never read on split-screen .. I was just showing off

Agree, but the cost is prohibitive to me (at least on my country), so I will stick to using my old 12.9" iPad for documentation

[PROCEEDURE] Max Continous Operating Temperature and RPM?
Rudel_chw replied to SOLIDKREATE's topic in DCS: L-39 Albatros
Maximum continuous EGT temp is 700 °C The "1" needle is for the rpm of the High-Pressure Compresor section of the engine, the "2" needle is for the Low Pressure Compressor.- 1 reply

Then you don't have any file of that map, maps are not like aircraft modules ... the latter are divided in two parts: those that have purchased the aircraft have at /Mods the files like its cockpit, full flight model, and missions, those that have not purchased it still have files for it at /CoreMods, like the external shape, liveries, and a simplified flight model.
-
True, this happens exceptionally when a developer adds stuff to an existing Map .. as was the case with Kola on this last update.
