Hi, I enjoyed a lot your prior Campaign (World Apart), so I purchased this new one as soon as it got out, but I must admit that I have not flown it yet because I have not flown the UH in a long time and so I need a refresher training on the type before I feel confident enough to fly this Campaign. Hopefully this video will compel me to fly it soon, as it seems a great campaign and I'm a fan of following real procedures as much as possible: I hope in future Campaigns you will move out of Caucasus, in particular I'd love a Campaign set on the CW Germany map, which I understand has sold quite well and so there should be many DCS users able to fly on it. Cheers! Eduardo

I know, but beginning with the cold start seemed like a more logical approach.

you use the same login on both dcs, it is not version dependant, just you cant run both dcs versions at the same time.
-
yes, its totally true and I intend to save a full dcs install just to run the mirage 2000 and the harrier, even if I have to purchase a second ssd drive to keep it, and freeze it to never update. it can be kept for ever, but just note that whatever module or map is released after you freeze that dcs install, wont be available to run in that dcs. But I don’t mind, I intend to keep two dcs installs side by side just to be able to keep using my 3 remaining Razbam modules ( the F-15E was refunded a while back ).

Airfield AAA emplacement templates for Normandy 2
Rudel_chw replied to KFP_CHIMKIN's topic in DCS: Normandy 2.0
Hi, I couldn't find the Cuesta's Mod, and as I was also in the middle of making other missions then forgot about it Hopefully you will be able to fix these templates. eduardo -
fully agree, its just that the free use of terms like "stolen" rubs me the wrong way ..
-
But no one "stole" it from you, its developer went out of business. Its the same as if you purchase a new car and a few years after its maker folds, after a time you can't purchase some spare parts for it, and in the long term it stops to function, its a risk we take when we purchase things .. would you say that the car company "stole" it from you? ... if you truly believe that then you should call the police and report the theft.

Hello, In spite that many systems are not fully modeled, I found that it was possible to edit a fairly complete Cold Start training mission, like this: If you want to try the mission yourself (requires the Modern Marianas Map), here is a download link: F-104C - Training - M01 Cold Start (by Rudel_chw).miz I will next edit a Taxi & Take-Off follow up mission, and then a VFR landing one, to get a proper training set. If you find a bug with the mission, please let me know here and I will do my best to fix it.

we clearly have a different meaning for the word "stolen"

the upcoming version 1.2 has a proper radio and so can communicate with the carrier in the same way as the f-18. Here is a recording I did while testing v1.2:

nice video, but I believe it would have been better to wait for the upcoming v1.2 before producing it.

Isnt this just an aesthetic issue? The Mig-21 has a lot of issues but, to me, this should be at the bottom of the list. We? shouldnt be an "I" ? ... it always strikes me odd when anyone start asking wishes in the name of other users

I tried Multiplayer for over a year, with a famous spanish virtual flight group, and you will never convince me that multiplayer is better than single player: I trust my own experience more than other people's sayings.
-
great tip, thank you, I didn’t knew what that button function was
-
Ahh, OK I didn't realize that you were talking about multiplayer servers ... I never fly on those because more than a simulation experience, it turns DCS into a gaming experience, and I have no interest in that, opting instead on flying single player with missions made by the community or myself.

Have you considered that a given aircraft can fly on either "blue" or "red" sides? .. an F-16 can fly for REDFOR with a Venezuelan livery, a Mig-29 can fly for BLUEFOR with a luftwaffe livery, and so on. You are putting on your own force-jacket when setting up your coalition's countries, instead of using your imagination and devising mission situations that are balanced for both sides.
-
Actually, that is the "Trigger Type": The difference between ONCE and MISSION START is that ONCE can only run after you have entered the aircraft cockpit and are seated on the aircraft, while MISSION START can run the moment the mission starts, for example it can run while you are still on the Slot Selection screen choosing which client aircraft to use.

Liveries taking up too much space for planes I don't even own.
Rudel_chw replied to MoCluck's topic in Game Performance Bugs
You are correct, I was assuming that the DDS built-in compression was better, guess it is tuned for faster uncompression than minimum size. However, on the liveries I tested the difference isnt as big as 55 vs 278: -
The ME offers two kinds of template, my original post uses "Static Templates" while you are using "Group Templates", mine look like this: 1) First I select the Static Template from my collection: 2) This template contains one aircraft of each type, for which I have setup its radio frequencies to be as compatible with each other as possible: Each of these aircraft can then be copied and pasted wherever you need it, once you have the mission ready you can delete these "template" aircrafts. However, the new DTC feature of DCS seems to be another way of attaining the same objective, perhaps you should consider it instead of my technique

zipping liveries does not save disk space, because the graphics format of the textures is usually already compressed.
