  1. Oh cm'on now, really? Did your solicitor also inform you that an integral part of any potential claim hinges on a successful 'Quantification of Damages' process? To put it in layman's terms, what exactly have you as an indie backer got to lose? I'll tell you: Sweetblowbuggerall  See where I'm going with this? Everyone should just take a step back, read Cobra's announcement again and comprehend the contents thereof. Then read it again for good measure: Quit the litigious to and fro cause it's just really funny and OT.......and yes, take my word for it, I do know what I am talking about.
  2. I was under the impression that the F-15 utilizes auto-trim, ie no manual trim.
  3. Yeah, I'm quite certain a substantial degree of Goodwill rides on this announcement we are all eagerly awaiting. Not quite sure I'm looking forward to it though......Sort of like staring at Johhny Knoxville........You somehow know it's gonna hurt but you just cannot stop looking.
  4. Try the 'Repair' procedure.
  5. Can also click on the 'Beta Teams' tab. Immediately brings up the 'ED Forums' link.
  6. That is the recommended way. Tailor your engagement properly and you'll never get too close, especially with the ML. Yes.
  7. Expert has been exterminated.

  9. OK I've snuck in as an Earl (Collector's Edition).
  10. Keep in mind that the Igla-S outranges the SA-13.
  11. In DCS I suppose if you want to show off or are dropping in on a SAM from above outside of effective range (3500m) where you can trade altitude to speed. In RL largely irrelevant as you'll be dead from the S-1 system 45km distant already :D
  12. Might be better to dig for info regarding the missile (9M333) as opposed to the system.
  13. Correct. When practising this do yourself a favour and set your waypoints approx 50km apart. Things get really tricky really fast if you are within 10-15km from a waypoint at a closure rate of 600km/h with any degree of Bearing deviation :)
  14. Depends on target aspect. Best-case scenario for these missiles are a 5km Max Range. Now with a head-on engagement, engine heat-signature shielded from the SAM sensors you have a launch range within the NEZ of 4km. A simple test with target off-set 90 degrees to the SAM gives us a launch range of 4.5km, still within the 5km Max Range mark and probably just outside the NEZ. Above accords well with the documented changes to the DLZ as published by the Devs. Personally cannot fault range presently as it relates to the Gopher. Yeah I agree that's fishy as the Gopher's missiles should be good against a target travelling at about 1500km/h in a head-on aspect.
  15. Correct. I usually fly a bearing intercept at 90 degrees as it will get you there the fastest. As you see from this pic, Course should be 318. We however have a Bearing deviation so I banked right 90 degrees, flying an intercept of 041 (should be 318 + 90 = 048 but close enough): Bearing pointer will slowly move down (counter-clockwise) the nearer I get to my desired bearing. This comes with practice, but once I am close, I usually intercept the Bearing on a 60 degree bank: Done correctly, you will roll out with the Bearing Pointer and Desired Course Arrow perfectly aligned with the Current Heading tab.
  16. No, the Yellow Arrow on the HSI is your desired Bearing Pointer: Are you sure you're not referring to the Required Bank and Pitch Indicators of the ADI? No yellow line on the HSI: Only on the ADI - Depends on what AP mode you have selected. Cannot comment without a track - if you still have issues post a track and I'll have a looksee. Here's the HSI: It tells you the distance to next waypoint (Upper Left - 2km), Desired Course you need to fly to get to that waypoint (Upper Right - 291 degrees), an illustration of the Desired Course you need to fly - and most importantly, the desired Bearing you need to fly on in order to maintain the proper flight-path according to your flight-plan - That Bearing Pointer is VITALLY IMPORTANT for the purposes of navigation, especially if you are to ingress to a target area along a predetermined 'Safe Corridor'. Say for example you are told to ingress along a narrow corridor safe from Air Defences. Go left of the 'safe-zone' and you'll be shot. Go right and you'll be shot. Now you can understand that even if you are on the right Course to target/waypoint, give or take a few degrees, if you are not on the right bearing you are in trouble! Let's look at my Pic again: Give or take a degree or two, i am bang on target (or am I?) for my next waypoint, 2km away. So my Desired Course is nearly spot-on (290 as opposed to Desired 291). HOWEVER I am much too far to the right of my intended flight path as indicated by the yellow Bearing Pointer. What I need to do is to bank hard left 90 degrees and fly until I intercept my Desired Bearing. When I do, execute a hard right bank to get onto the Desired Course, thus aligning the Bearing Pointer with the Desired Course arrow: Now I know I am on the right Bearing and Course, neither left nor right of my Flight Path but as near as dammit on my flight path as per the Flight Plan. Let me know if this is any clearer. If not, I'll post a wee track together with written commentary as further illustration.
  17. No effect on DLZ/NEZ. Results basically on par with Engine Idle No Flare and Engine Idle and Pre-Emptive Flare Deployment as detailed in my post above: Gliding in, the former results in a HIT whilst the latter results in a MISS. Strela Engine Off No Flaretrk.trk Strela Engine Offand Flaretrk.trk Obviously goes without saying that you should NEVER be gliding into FEBA in any event, unless you've been sodomised a few seconds earlier.
  18. Utilize the HSI for navigation :)
  19. Ran a quick test in a controlled environment with latest build against a Strela-10, flying a T-Toad. Let's see what the SIM says: Engine Full No Flare: 3010m AGL 750km/h IAS Launch at 4km as indicated on Shkval HIT Strela Engine Full No Flare.trk Engine Full and Pre-Emptive Flare Deployment: 3020m AGL 750km/h IAS Launch at 3.9km as indicated on Shkval HIT Strela Engine Full and Flare.trk Engine Idle No Flare 3010m AGL 620km/h IAS Launch at 4km as indicated on Shkval HIT Strela Engine Idle No Flare.trk Engine Idle and Pre-Emptive Flare Deployment 3000m AGL 600km/h IAS Launch at 4km as indicated on Shkval MISS Strela Engine Idle Flare.trk Conclusions derived from above-mentioned tracks/data: 1 - As evident, pre-emptive flares have no effect on range where launch takes place. SAM will launch when target is within SAM NEZ, irrespective of flare deployment. 2 - The only factor that seems to influence the probability of effective evasion/countermeasure success is the state of one's engines: With throttles at Idle, missile will fall for flare decoy. Conversely, throttle not at Idle will see missile track aircraft. Above results confirmed whether target is prosecuted from the Sun or not. As previously mentioned by ZaltysZ, the target's flight parameters (ie aspect in relation to sun, altitude etc etc) are relevant ONLY INSOFAR it relates to the DLZ (ie in the instance of factoring in the position of the Sun, it leads to a decrease in the NEZ). Again, only pertinent factor that seems to have an influence is Aircraft Throttle positioning which aids in defeating the missile/Countermeasure success: Pre-emptive release of flares has no effect whatsoever.
  20. Issue reported. Ta
  21. Aye man Kudo's for going through all that :) G's aside, if it's anything like being sea-sick then I feel your pain.......gawd that's something bad that is :D
  22. It is exactly as I said: Engage Armour from 0.7nm - 0.4nm. As for AD, wait for the Weasels or shoot them from stand-off range PRIOR to engaging armour. MANPAD's will however ruin your day EVERY time, but then again, that was not the OP's question now was it ;)
  23. It does: B7barPrsB5k Engage from 0.7nm - 0.4nm. 2-second burst good enough for a shallow dive as above, even less when dropping in from the top. Herewith short vid of an Abrams kill from a steep dive/70 round kill - same will apply to the T-90: wTa2vp0sf5I
  24. Cannot be a bad thing judging from the amount of fun you're having :D
